Does anyone have the girlfriend chinos? I'm not sure about the stripe down the side and the reviews say they go baggy. I'm on the hunt for the perfect chinos

gubbsywubbsy · 11/04/2019 19:24

@spamandbeans I do .. they are lovely .. low to mid waist which I love .

legoqueen · 11/04/2019 19:49

never & not I fear that you are right about the back/bra showing. A shame as I love the tiger pattern. I've a feeling there were trousers in the same pattern originally but they seem to have disappeared...thanks for your advice

neveradullmoment99 · 11/04/2019 20:01

@legoqueen. The trousers are still there:

never too kind! I had been looking on John Lewis as I have a voucher!

Laska2Meryls · 11/04/2019 20:39

Not it's a proper Panama! With Made in Ecuador on the inner brim and everything - and yes, made of proper straw (and not paper as so many 'straw' hats seem to be) so that's why its ££ i suppose . .But its fab.
I love hats, so pleased with it , also because they come in real hat sizes , I always find sunhats sold in places like Monsoon etc are too big ....

They have lots of rain in Ecuador dont they? ( but not like Scottish rain I'm sure !! .... it'll be warmer anyway !! Grin)

NotAnActualSheep · 11/04/2019 21:20

I'm so glad you had a good time ella! And yes, I had got it totally wrong, though did at least recognise the royal mile, and from the right direction 😂. It's odd that I feel so much "pride" for the city, even though I wasn't born here, and only moved here by accident. Been here about 13 years now, and still feel a bit of a newcomer, and still get excited around the festival in the summer and so on. I joke that we shouldn't really complain about the weather, cos if it was better everyone would want to live here, and then it would be too busy Grin.

lego I love the tiger print too! That was what attracted me to the jumpsuit I think. I also fancied the cropped easy trousers and knot skirt, though having seen the material I'm not sure they would work on me, as its a bit shiny (assuming it's the same fabric). My bum does not need any kind of sheen... Someone upthread tried the black one though, and she looked amazing in it, so you may get on with it. (if that's like the black easy trousers, that is more matt).

Right. I'm really tempted by the hat now. May ask for that for my birthday later in the month. Thanks laska! (genuine thanks, not sarcastic thanks...) 👍
Also quite like the look of this zebra top though its only available in large. And there are some sparkly socks... You can never have enough socks...

Ellapaella · 11/04/2019 22:35

@NotAnActualSheep every time I've been to Edinburgh it's been sunny. I can do cold as long as it's sunny and not raining!
Today was beautiful, we were all in our t shirts at the zoo - my two ginger boys have caught the sun, youngest especially had pink cheeks and ears this evening!

It's a very stylish city as well - saw lots of super stylish people wafting around looking effortlessly cool.

Haha 🤣 Yes, DS was the same today (also ginger!) I felt a bit bad sending him off without suncream, but I wasn't expecting it in April... Was freezing and really "dreich" earlier in the week! And yy, I always feel very frumpy in some parts of the city (not so much out where we are! Definitely more polyester trouser and sportswear out here... and students which are a law to themselves).

legoqueen · 12/04/2019 08:21

Ella & Not you can't beat Edinburgh in the sunshine, but even without sun it has a unique charm. I would love to live there - travelled there for work frequently over the last two years but that has now stopped - am bringing DS age 13 there for a few days the week after Easter as our school hols are late - can't wait! Am now looking at the Daphne jumpsuit which I missed last year but its out of stock in my size. I think that me & jumpsuits maybe aren't meant to be....

neveradullmoment99 · 12/04/2019 08:24

I had the daphne in floral. Wore it to a wedding and then sold it on ebay. You might find one on ebay. Its lovely. I sold it on because i didn't think i would wear the floral again( It was a summer wedding) but i would have kept the black.

neveradullmoment99 · 12/04/2019 08:26

My ds went to Edinburgh uni. We went through frequently to meet up. Its a beautiful city.

Binkybix · 12/04/2019 08:45

Oooh the tiger print bomber is drawing me in again! However, just back from Switzerland and feel very poor Grin

Elllllle · 12/04/2019 09:00

I don't live in the UK at the moment, but Edinburgh was one of my favourite places to visit when I did.

The hush sale is looking pretty amazing - I am very happy that the jumpers I ordered are not in the sale though as I have to pay non-UK postage and reordering etc would not be worthwhile! However this looks beautiful (the Emmeline jumper) and is now actually within a reasonable (sort of but not really ....) price. I would buy if it didn't have such a high wool content.

legoqueen · 12/04/2019 09:05

never I have been keeping an eye on e bay (it's the floral I like - having dressed soberly for decades I have reached 50 & am unashamedly embracing pattern like there's no tomorrow) - have been trying to get hold of the iconic Yes Sir I can Boogie t-shirt via e bay plus the FB Hush/MV group but clearly no-one's giving that up Grin

neveradullmoment99 · 12/04/2019 10:07

Well @ lego, i am 51 and spent years embracing floral but find i veer towards single colours with the odd outburst of print!
Well holy red jumper arrived. Its very short in the body. Beautiful holyness except the shortness prob means its going back! Really busy today( visitors) so will post puc when i get a chance.

neveradullmoment99 · 12/04/2019 10:08

Pic not puc!!!!

ilovecherries · 12/04/2019 11:16

The leather jacket arrived. My plan was to turn it straight round in an hour if I wasn’t keeping it but have left it hanging on the back of the door in the sunlight to let the creases drop out. (I know it’s in the sale, but was enraged that it was actually just stuffed into a plastic bag with no wrapping or protection). It’s very beautiful, but very pale! I’m totally undecided. I’m so bloody pale myself since my surgery, I’m walking around looking pretty shit and it’s making me feel a bit bleurgh in everything right now. I’m alright if I pile the makeup on, but otherwise I’m as white as a sheet and look knackered. Might leave it for the weekend and dress for it on Monday.

neveradullmoment99 · 12/04/2019 11:40

Heres a quick snap. Not sure about usefullness. Its not a lightweight jumper!

Hushista's stepping into spring...
neveradullmoment99 · 12/04/2019 11:41

What do you think?

neveradullmoment99 · 12/04/2019 11:42

Its still expensive at£65

SoyYo · 12/04/2019 12:58

@never I like it! Lovely colour and the textured knit gives it a “folksy” character that appeals to me. I’m surprised it doesn’t make you look big either, it’s a lovely shape on you but you’ll need to decide if you’ll get enough wear for the £65. That colour will go really nicely with your kakhi skirt too...

@cherries look forward to seeing leather jacket on you. It is very annoying the cheap packaging when you’re forking out so much £ Angry...

Ive received my sale parcels but trying on will have to wait. I’m working and DH and DS at home which is annoying when I want to try on/take pics by myself...

Ellapaella · 12/04/2019 14:09

It's a nice colour Never and I like it - if it was winter still and I knew I'd get lots of wear I'd probably go for it but for me personally I'd be worried it would sit at the back of my wardrobe now until October/November. Having said that it's only 8 degrees here today so maybe there's still plenty of winter left!

OP posts:
dontcallmelen · 12/04/2019 14:34

I like it never suits you yy end up back of the wardrobe if you don’t get much wear out it until next winter.
cherries really annoying with poor packaging, especially for something so expensive, maybe give it a few days & try it on when you are feeling a bit less ropey.
