@len interested to know what you think of the leather jacket. Don’t let me put you off...

It’s sunny but bloody cold here, I’ve put the heating on already. Stopped work as the 2 hour call I attended earlier left me sore, back to hot water bottle and sofa now. I’d usually be getting ready for my Pilates class but no way Jose, not this week.

I can’t get my head round some of the wide leg jeans yet I don’t mind a nice pair of wide leg smart trousers...I think it’s the length that puts me off. Reminds me of that awful 70s band what were they called? Bay city rollers? The ones with the tartan vibe and the wide leg short trousers. Sorry! It’s just me being totally non fashion today...I’m also having a hard time with all the oversized blazer trend. A coat yes I get it. A blazer...not so much unless I want to rock the 80’s thang (been there done that).

@soups JL visit sounds really good! I’ll be interested to see if you try the ones I link here which a blogger raves about (I’d have to have them shortened to ankle length) but I reckon I could manage a transition from skinnies to this straight shape:

ilovecherries · 10/04/2019 17:52

I once snogged a Bay City Roller. Just saying :)

FuzzyPuffling · 10/04/2019 17:55

twosoups the best jeans I have found are Lands End. I buy theri mid rise straight leg version and they are very nice indeed. I only buy them in the sale - last time I got a £60 pair for £26.

Cherries You have to tell all now.

And thank you all for your lovely messages. They are very much appreciated.

dontcallmelen · 10/04/2019 17:55

Soy will take a look once dgd goes home, will have to be spot on though otherwise definitely going back, especially as I don’t need it just wanted it😂
Yy the bay city rollers, I wore tartan jeans when I went to see them at the Lewisham odeon in the seventies, must admit they are not for me I’m waaay too short for anything cropped, but do like smart wide leg trousers with heels or smart high waisted wide leg jeans with wedges/heels, but I’m no fashionista so feel free to absolutely ignore my style musings.
Yy freezing I have the heating on as well & was in my down coat, boots & woolly hat today.

dontcallmelen · 10/04/2019 17:57

Cherries you have to tell, my fourteen year old self would have been green with envy.

dontcallmelen · 10/04/2019 18:01

Soy those jeans are fab, my mission this season is too find a straight leg & some boyfriend jeans, usually the only ones that fit are either Topshop or River Island petite though which is quite limiting.

ilovecherries · 10/04/2019 18:14

Ha, they were almost local boys, though I didn’t know them. They did a gig at our city hall and a load of us girls were dancing, one (I will be discreet), came down off the stage and started dancing with me, and I met him afterwards for a very chaste snog in the park. My parents would not have been amused at the solo park OR the snogging, but he was very nice and it was all very innocent. I spent weeks afterwards convinced we were separated soul mates and writing his name inside hearts all over my jotters. Then I got off with the plumber’s apprentice when we were having a new immersion heater and hot tank fitted at home, and I moved on to pastures new.

Laska2Meryls · 10/04/2019 18:36

Hope you married the plumbers apprentice cherries he probably would have earned more by now 🤣
I've had a Wine ( white) sitting on. My friends back step in the sun, and we are just off for the local Thai restaurant's cheepo Wednesday buffet night! (Won't be getting into those star jeans this week,then...)

Laska2Meryls · 10/04/2019 18:37

...or perhaps the size 10 Moritz...

Laska2Meryls · 10/04/2019 18:39

Nice evening here but I predict frost, Sky v clear can see the moon already.. (and the sun still q high)

ilovecherries · 10/04/2019 18:41

Nah, my adoration for him was pretty short lived as well...

SoyYo · 10/04/2019 18:54

Oh cherries you are a ✨✨✨love the bay city rollers snog tale! I’m sorry if my comment upset you (I used to like the Carpenters and ABBA in my early teens so not one to judge, but became hard core rocker in my mid/late teens). My only claim to fame is Lenny from Motörhead chatted me up at Kensington Roof garden party when I was in my early twenties, but OMG much as I love him as a singer he was truly revolting physically so made my excuses and escaped, RIP to him he was a legend as are the Bay City Rollers boys.
Now a plumber bf is very very useful Grin

I think @len is right I’m so short I just look terrible with wide leg short trousers...even culottes I have to be careful with.

@Fuzzy we are here sending you positive vibes many many times over. How is DH now? And I know you’re having to be the “strong one” but we don’t mind if you rant here at the sheer unfairness of it all. Wish I was closer to give you a big hug, with tea and a piece of cake/ or wine if you prefer. I went through a similar traumatic time 10 years ago. My DH lying in hospital with serious injuries after a motorcycle accident, 2 Young DS at home, no family nearby and my DM passed away...I don’t like to dwell on it as it was so sad, but we are stronger for the experience and let me tell you I found out who my real friends were then and I cherish them for the help they gave me. I hope in some small way we can help with moral support but also wish lots of RL friends are running to help you and surround you with love now.

ilovecherries · 10/04/2019 19:30

Goodness, no, not upset me at all soy. Remember I was 15 and basically a walking hormone stew :)

FuzzyPuffling · 10/04/2019 19:43

Wise words SoYo. You DO find out who your friends are and I do have lovely friends in RL. DH had a lengthy GP appt today (with me in attendance) and a GP who was fascinated by his rare condition. Lots of questions and prescriptions later he declared "You have had a lot of shit over the past few years. I recommend the nearest beach and an ice cream. And bring me one back...." He;s terribly tired but I've done his eye drops (he hates eye drops...it's worse than worming the cats) and he's comfortable. He's also wearing an eye patch and looks like a very rakish pirate.

I too am tired. This bit between death and funeral is very difficult; I'm so in limbo.

dontcallmelen · 10/04/2019 19:49

Fuzzy yy & reiterating Soys post, truly hope you have support & definitely here for virtual hugs.
cherries laughing at the hormonal angst, yy the plumber would be very handy & probably untold riches by now plumbers rates round here are extortionate.
Laska sounds a lovely evening, reckon frost here as well tonight.
Soy jacket going back, agree colour is a bit meh & it had a really bad crease all the way down the lapel, also the bottom edge seam very uneven, shame as the sleeves actually fitted normally I have to tuck them up a few inches, so 😇 back intact.

dontcallmelen · 10/04/2019 19:53

Fuzzy Gp sounds great, yy the worst bit is definitely the limbo in between passing & funeral especially as in the U.K. the wait can be so drawn out, my family are Irish & the longest you wait for funerals in Ireland is maximum three days, I think lots to be said for such short timings & having to be the strong one is emotionally so tough, hoping that you can find a bit of time for yourself, take care xx

spamandbeans · 10/04/2019 20:29

If anyone is interested I bought the embroidered Cami but it's really see through and yellowy - couldn't justify £49 for it.

SoyYo · 10/04/2019 21:27

Thanks for reporting @spam we’ll steer well clear unless vastly reduced at the sale.

@cherries hormone stew Grin btw glad your DD is doing better and seeing the light at the end of the tunnel

@len such a shame! But it does explain the bargain, too good to be true all my other Muubaas are superb so not up to the usual standard. I recommend hunting again for a better one directly at the Muubaa site when they have a sale but won’t be so cheap (around £180/240 mark for a good style/colour) at least our 😇 are intact and we scratched the itch..

Fuzzy I’m pleased to read DH is a little more comfortable, that you have a good GP and supportive RL friends. Lean on them. They’ll be glad to help and you know you’d do the same for them. Maybe find a good book to take your mind off the current limbo, or do something small that nourishes your soul, aside the beach walks, planting a pot of violas, or watching an old movie with DH (assuming he can with his eye patch), or a hot chocolate and delicious cake/scones in a cafe after a seaside walk. Basically try and do little, only things that bring you a little pleasure/comfort or you must do (sod lots of housework, cooking unless you enjoy it, etc).
And come back often for inane fashion talk to the thread. Sometimes all we need is to take our minds off the shite for 10 minutes xx

Ellapaella · 10/04/2019 21:32

Just catching up - in my hotel room in Edinburgh with DC. They are scoffing smarties chocolate eggs and I am having a cup of tea and a creme egg 😋

Edinburgh is just such a beautiful city - I could definitely definitely live here. We're having a great day sightseeing and off to the zoo tomorrow.

My lovely DH surprised me last weekend with this little book “because I was looking in Amazon and this appeared and I thought of you” btw I take it as a compliment he indulges me with my woo woo witchy leanings Grin
I’ll see if I find a self care recipe for grief @fuzzy and if yes will pm to you.
It’s a really lovely little book

ilovecherries · 10/04/2019 21:38

I love Edinburgh, that’s where I did my post-grad nursing course (and met my DH). Had a flat just along from Haymarket station. Have a lovely time, ella.

SoyYo · 10/04/2019 21:38

Ooh @Ella my DH hometown! Lovely place!! Where’s Not? I’m sure she’ll have great tips.
In past visits we enjoyed the zoo when Boys were little, and St Mary’s passage with its medioeval spooky tour (I remember boys were scared!)
Have tons of fun!! It’s a magical place

Ah yes forgot to attach my witch book pic

SoyYo · 10/04/2019 21:40

Hmm sorry for posting twice the pic, didn’t show first time round so I thought I did it wrong

SoyYo · 10/04/2019 21:45

We also bought a garden broom at Tesco at the weekend and when we got home after putting away the weekly shop I asked him
“Did you put the broom with the garden things?”
DH “No...still in the car boot...thought you might need it if the car breaks down”
Grin

whiskyremorse · 10/04/2019 21:48

@fuzzy. So sorry to hear your news, you and Mr Fuzzy must be reeling. Be kind to yourselves, making soup is a great place to start when your world is blown apart ❤️
