Yes, Queen - I would love to know how much the security costs are.

Did I read correctly that Harry commented that social media is more addictive than drugs etc the week they launched the sussex Instagram account? Again, more of the do what I say not what I do which is what I find very irritating about him in particular.

mrscampbellblackagain · 06/04/2019 13:26

God we really need some clothes to look at don't we? How long till the summer season begins in earnest??

TyraAllen · 06/04/2019 13:37

MrsCB - yes he did, in the context of children using it, I believe. The timing could have been better, obviously, given the record breaking launch of the Instagram - and it probably would have been a good idea for someone to have got in touch with the previous holder of that username prior to the launch! The whole launch is rather one of those things which should have been positive all round but it doesn't look as if anyone had really paid attention to the very small details, which are always the ones which end up causing an issue.

Security costs would likely change very little if we were to be come a republic. Presidents are hardly cheap!

FlyMayBe · 06/04/2019 13:46

Yes I'm afraid we will @user1457017537. It's not even about Meghan really. It's just like how I think men should listen when women talk about sexism (rather than ask why they care about a pay gap when FGM exists) I prefer to listen to POC when they talk about racism. 🤷🏻‍♀️

This. 100%

Well said, @QueenOfTheAndals

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 06/04/2019 14:31

I'd rather keep the royal family than have an elected head of state as we could end up with someone like Trump, a pussy grabbing, lying, racist misogynist who could turn this country into a laughing stock.
The RF have their moments but they are benign.
Anyway let's bring on the dresses.

Shmoople · 06/04/2019 14:50

Trump is May's equivalent, not Queen Elizabeth's. Ireland has a President which is ceremonial post in the main. They manage to elect sane people to that role.

Princess Beatrice meeting children who have benefited from The Helen Arkell Dyslexia Charity Centre on Friday.

Yeah, but .... it’s not a lifetime appointment you know. Unlike the monarchy, where you can’t get rid of someone totally unsuitable. Look at the current Thai monarch ...

Horsemad · 06/04/2019 15:11

I'm glad sheer black tights are back!

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 06/04/2019 15:27

Yes I know Trump is the politically the equivalent of Teresa May but he is also the US head of state.
Our Queen is head of state but has no political role, the ability to make and pass legislation resides with an elected Parliament.
I was using Trump as an illustration of the type of person we could get.

I don't think the British public would put up with a monarchy that behaved unconstitutionally.

motheroftinydragons · 06/04/2019 15:58

Sadly, I think exactly the opposite judging on the current shit show the British public are currently tolerating from our politicians!

Paradyning · 06/04/2019 16:25

Trump is head of state like QE. Hence state visits with tiaras when Obama came.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 06/04/2019 16:49

The trouble with sheer black tights is that they look so awful if you get a run in them. At least with nude it could go unnoticed. I notice Zara favours opaque black tights often with a heeled ankle boot. They suit her somewhat athletic legs very well.

Here's a photo of everyone's (well quite a few posters) favourite prince CPH meeting the King of Tonga on Friday when he arrived in Tonga on Friday

I presume this is the son of the “horse fart” King of Tonga, otherwise he’s been to weightwatchers

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 06/04/2019 17:05

The current King of Tonga’s Father with HM.

QueenOfTheAndals · 06/04/2019 17:12

I was going to say he's slimmed down dramatically but then realised he was too young to be that king of Tonga!

Has hottie Haakon shrunk his jacket??

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 06/04/2019 17:49

It’s all that time in your airing cupboard! Grin

Very flattering article; slow and steady wins the race.

Camilla's awesome. She is Patron Royal and supports Helen House, a children's hospice

QueenOfTheAndals · 06/04/2019 18:24

Who would've thought 20 years ago that she'd be held in such high regard one day?

frugalkitty · 06/04/2019 18:58

My airing cupboard, Curly and I manage to shrink everything else round here so that wouldn’t be entirely unexpected Grin

QueenOfTheAndals · 06/04/2019 19:01

Well as long as everything wasn't shrunk Wink

I'm finding the increasing drip of stories about what will happen when the Queen dies in extremely bad taste. We all know she can't last forever but we don't need pro- Charles and Camilla pieces forced on us continually.
