I actually think Raine was treated quite badly by the Spencer children particularly Charles and Diana, I watched a documentary on Raine Spencer and to say the children gave her a hard time was an understatement, it’s alleged that Diana pushed her down the stairs. Raine was not perfect by any stretch and apparently she did not let the children visit their father after his first heart attack which caused more animosity. As soon as Earl Spencer died Charles a arranged for her bags to be packed immediately and she was turfed out of Althorp so had to cope with the loss of her husband and home, though I think she remarried quite quickly. However during the later years of Diana’s life Raine and her became close and their rift was healed so there was a sort of happy ending between them.
