The thing is that I can totally see why william/the palace would threaten to sue for both scenarios (he's innocent or he's guilty). But actually, i think threatening to sue when you know it's a lie is more likely. Threatening to sue when a story is true is very dangerous because if the story is true and it comes out, you are screwed.

What gets me about that while thread though is that it is entirely plausible 're the argument between Harry and William. However, there were also rumours about them fighting because William told Harry not to marry Meghan so quickly, which is also believable. There could be a million reasons for the two to have fallen out, including things that are entirely unrelated and that we know nothing about.

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 01/04/2019 00:41

itswinetine The people who have worked with him don’t know him, they know how he is in that environment that’s all, imI am sure he is a perfectly charming and pleasant during his working life, it’s just the impression I get, but none of us will ever know what he is really like.

Rhubarbisevil · 01/04/2019 00:54

I was under the impression that Cambridge Baby 3 was supposed to be the sticking plaster on the marriage.

What was it that Jilly Cooper said? In the country you need to either ride, drink or shag (other spouses).

itswinetime · 01/04/2019 00:54

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo completely agree like I said no one knows what someone is like in private lots of people who seem charming and down to earth aren't behind closed doors was just trying to give some balance to things.

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 01/04/2019 01:00

Always good to have a different perspective itswinetime keeps the thread interesting.

George is on holiday now. He gets a month for Easter.

I presume Kate would have gone straight up to Anmer. Which would be tough as she’s down the road from the Chumleys.

If William has been playing around, it might explain why she’s had a zillion new designer frocks this year. Retail therapy.

polarpig · 01/04/2019 01:43

More pubic duties likewise

I've never heard an alleged affair described as 'pubic duties' before but I suppose it is kind of apt.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 01/04/2019 06:07

Cheesy mother’s day pastiche of Kate ( I think it is sweet though!)

I guess the affair rumours are flaring up in the absence of any other royal stories. I think if the Chumleys divorce, then that will add fuel to the fire. I’m sure they probably have some kind of “arrangement”.

I think we’ll just see more joint engagements with will & Kate. I can only remember 2 recently. The Baftas and Dundee. (I am going to scrutinise the videos now)

But the press haven't come out and said he's having an affair, just that Kate has fallen out with Rose. Which is a strange thing to sue about.

By that I mean The Sun. Plenty of other outlets are now saying it must be infidelity-related but all The Sun did was report on the alleged falling out.

QueenOfTheAndals · 01/04/2019 06:46

@CurlyWurlyTwirly Plus the NI trip and the Commonwealth service. Kate had a face like thunder for the latter but that's neither here nor there.

I do hope it's not true.

I really don't see anything odd in not wanting to live next door to your brother.

mrscampbellblackagain · 01/04/2019 07:35

Some people are just desperate for the rumours to be true though. Lordy what a load of made up bollocks that twitter thread is from a very pro-Meghan 'writer'.

And as if Giles Coren has a clue about what is happening in William and Catherine's marriage - he is just a trouble maker who likes to appear to be in the know.

BlingLoving · 01/04/2019 07:45

I am assuming they threatened to sue of the papers published stories of infidelity. So they haven't. Which also suggests their sources are not iron clad.

The more I think about it, the more I think his affair is unlikely. There is something else going on, but not that William is shagging rose. Could be genuinely bad or could just be usual issues between people blown out of proportion because of who they are. Hell, if me and/or The woman from the school playground with whom I had a large public fall out were famous, who knows what would have hit the press.... (and, interestingly, while there was no issue about our respective husbands, it would have taken very little creativity to make it seem like it was...)

QueenOfTheAndals · 01/04/2019 07:49

No, it's The Sun they've threatened to sue. The outlets that have speculated about an affair are US websites. U.K. ones have been far more circumspect.

OP posts:
QueenOfTheAndals · 01/04/2019 07:52

Sorry @BlingLoving, just realised I misread your post due to the of/if typo. So ignore my previous one!

OP posts:
mrscampbellblackagain · 01/04/2019 07:56

The US websites will print anything from what I can see. And I do wonder what contacts/sources they have from within the RF, umm yes that will be none then.

As a previous poster mentioned people just seem to print stories lifted from other papers rather than having actual sources.

beanaseireann · 01/04/2019 07:59

If it is true and I'm really hoping it's not, William likes tall, slim brunettes.
Would he, could he really be that stupid ?
I don't believe the William / Harry cooling has anything to do with an affair.

Actually I don't know what to believe Sad

QueenOfTheAndals · 01/04/2019 08:14

I thought the rumours were ridiculous but it was the Richard Kay piece in the Mail that made me wonder. The stories in the Sun could all be dismissed as silly rumours but his article was as obvious a palace plant as Meghan's friends speaking to People. It was a bit of a misstep as it's ended up giving the rumours more credence than if they'd been ignored.

OP posts:
CurlyWurlyTwirly · 01/04/2019 09:11

Agreed. Richard Kay has been the unofficial mouthpiece for Royals since Diana’s day.

Exactly bling why threat of taking legal actions if the rumors are all true?

What i found truly shocking in those tweets is that it says the writer is a Harvard graduateHmm

Rhubarbisevil · 01/04/2019 09:17

I hope they sue Giles Coren, what with his innocent face and all.

queenofarles · 01/04/2019 09:38

True or not. the comments are really hilarious and juvenile, just like the writer.

SevenSeasofRye · 01/04/2019 09:41

I just think the papers are full of a lot of made up bullshit about feuds, affairs etc which are most total lies. The love and affection between W and Kate is clear to see. I don’t believe a word of it.
Kate has been looking strained sometimes, but always at dreary functions. When she and W do an engagement together they are so in tune.
What passes for news these days is just nonsense.

BlingLoving · 01/04/2019 09:43

@queenofarles - are you talking about the one with the long thread re the split between Harry and William?

And can someone please tell me what Giles Coren said? I think it's been deleted. I used to be a huge fan of his, but over the years I've found him more and more pompous and the kind of liberal I hate - the ones who are all for anyone achieving anything, but think it's all hard work and "pulling yourself up by your bootstraps" with zero understanding of the real issues real people (who aren't white, male, middle class) face.

[It's why I like Meghan - she gets it!]
