I really, really need advice about this colour combination... it's an odd one but I think it could work...

Deep breath (please don't laugh)

Emerald green with blush pink???

I'm MASSIVELY STUCK on a wedding-guest outfit; I don't really 'do' dresses (at least not in a smart way, I like them for casual but for smart I feel much more elegant in trousers - hence my username...)

I've just seen this jacket from Hush

www.hush-uk.com/womenswear/daywear/jackets_coats/anita_blazer_blush.htm

which I like but which I'm wondering... could I wear it over an emerald-green silky blouse??

I love love emerald green and think I'd feel most comfortable in said blouse with nice smart navy cigarette pants, heels and...? What on top? It's an April wedding in north European city so it could be anything from sunny to chilly, I definitely need a jacket or coat of some sort.

When I try navy jacket with the emerald green it kind of 'kills it' if that makes sense? (Navy trousers fine as not on top of the blouse obv). Maybe I'm trying too dark a navy.

I can't find the right other shade of blue.

I have a yellow jacket but emerald green underneath makes me look like a daffodil :)

So I just saw this blush pink and I thought... maybe???

But I am nuts?

I love love love blush with khaki and wear it a lot, but is bright emerald going a step too far?

Any advice appreciated.

Apologies for massively over-using the phrase love love love in my OP Blush

Clearly I feel really strongly about the colours I like!!

I think it would kill the blazer it is too pale for a strong jewel colour

lozengeoflove · 28/03/2019 11:10

Sounds like a good combo. Go for it. Smile

HepburnKNotA · 28/03/2019 11:11

Hm, Oliversmum hadn't thought of that.

Would cream work instead, do you think? Wary of cream blazer as it's a wedding but I guess worn with emerald green and navy trousers it'll be fairly obv I'm not competing with the bride!

I've looked for an emerald jacket but can't find anything.

Oooh, thanks lozenge, I'm glad to hear there's at least one other person who doesn't think I've taken leave of my senses (my DH just looked at me when I asked his opinion as if I'd suggested flying to the moon... but then he loathes colour and probably thinks I shoudl go to the wedding in grey)

I'm not sure it would work - i think it would need to be a cooler more powder pink colour. Also having trousers and jacket in different colours might look a bit "messy"?

Could you look for a cooler pink trouser suit - that could work?

HepburnKNotA · 28/03/2019 11:16

sanity - powder pink trouser suit sounds AWESOME and I think might work well with emerald green (right??)... I'm off to google...

I've seen the combination in trendy interiors. Might make more sense if it was a blush blouse and green jacket, I think the proportions of the colour might look weird. But worth a try.

HepburnKNotA · 28/03/2019 11:18

www.johnlewis.com/french-connection-sundae-tailored-jacket/p3923299?sku=237920049&s_kwcid=2dx92700042322912193&tmad=c&tmcampid=2&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIys7B_9qk4QIVSrXtCh2XoAb2EAQYASABEgKOKfD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

So something like this maybe? (though I don't like the look of the trousers' fit...)

HepburnKNotA · 28/03/2019 11:19

gairy I think you could be spot on about the ratio, as it were...

The french connection suit is nice but a very different colour to the blush jacket.

Which colour suits you?

HepburnKNotA · 28/03/2019 11:30

fruit, I never quite know with pink, I'd need to try it on for absolutely certain. I'm finding as I get older (I'm 43) that the bold colours I avoided like the plague in my 20s are somehow 'right' for me now. Years ago I'd have said blush pink was absolutely my colour but now I'd possibly edge more towards the bolder cooler pink.

Couldn't be sure unless I tried it on (which is obviously what I need to do...)

There's a nice (and cheaper!) warmer/paler pink trouser suit on asos which is lovely too.

At the very least this thread has pointed me in the direction of what I've now decided is THE ideal wedding outfit - a pink trouser suit - worn with what other colour, I don't yet know!!

Why did I not think of a pink trouser suit myself?! Ideal to look wedding-appropriate without feeling not-like-myself in a dress for the day.

Thanks everyone!

I'm not very good with colours but if you type "emerald green blush pink" into Pinterest, you'll see loads of examples which may help you to decide.

GeorgeTheBleeder · 28/03/2019 11:35

Perfect in nature ...

Green jacket with pink shirt might be best - better proportions, like leaves and flower.

thank you housewife, hadn't thought of that!

Ah, George, hadn't even considered nature!

Trouble is I'm struggling to find a bright green trouser suit... will look now on Asos... they seem good in that department...

I agree wholeheartedly about proportions.

Agree with George, see this colour combo from current season Zara. It would need to be a cool pink rather than blush or dusty.

I adore that Zara pic BlairWaldorf. Shows how it can work with the right shade of pink (I think it needs to look like a deliberate striking combination rather than an accident if that makes sense?)

Struggling to find anything remotely resembling a green trouser suit in the emerald shade that suits me so I'm thinking I might order the bright pink trouser suit and try it with the green blouse. I do agree the proportions would be better with more green to less pink but it's not working in practice cos I just can't find the right stuff!

It's lovely isn't it! I was tempted by the blouse but not sure where I'd wear it.

The FC suit looks more purple to me. This one is the right colour but not sure about the style, it's not particularly flattering on the model. Might be worth a try though.

Do this.

Have you chosen shoes yet?

Silver shoes would look fabulous

Floisme · 28/03/2019 12:06

This may not be the right shade but Me and Em have also got this trouser suit in emerald green. They normally have a mid season sale.

I like pink and green and, as George says, so does nature. I think it's about the shades more than the colours themselves.
