Good place for affordable bras?

After many years of breastfeeding I've finally stopped and want to get new bras! Have been measured as a 34DD. My "personal spends" budget is £50 a month so don't want to blow the whole lot on just one or two bras (though I could spread it over a few months) but don't know where is both not too pricey and also good. Thanks!

Personally I get my bras from eBay. Sometimes new, some ex display, some second hand, I’m not fussy. But I pay circa £10 max for a branded bra that would cost me £35 in Bravissimo. But I’m a 32G which is a size that’s not available in Asda/Primark etc.

Did you do the boob or bust measuring guide to get your 34DD?

OutwithMyRemit · 15/03/2019 14:00

I just did the measuring myself tbh (with DH help Blush) following online guides. I know it's better to get it done in a shop but we have two young kids and don't want to have to take them, and we live rurally so if I left them with DH to get it done in the nearest city at a weekend it'd be a 2 hour round trip and I CBA with the hassle.

I'll have a look on eBay Smile

If you didn’t do boob or bust then definitely use that method to get your size. I get my bras from Bravissimo and they are great, they deliver. Not overly cheap though.

Mocha3105 · 15/03/2019 14:03

I always get mine from the sales section in Debenhams. You can pick up a bargain, most recent one bra reduced to £7.80 from £34. It means you can try them on before you buy. Their own range I find fit well and are reasonably priced, about £20 for two. They wash well too, no escaping wires 😂

OutwithMyRemit · 15/03/2019 14:16

I'm not sure what the measurement I did is called but I measured under the boobs and at the widest point and put that into an online calculator Smile

I'll keep an eye out for sales at Debenhams, and maybe Bravissimo too. I think I'd rather get a couple of nice ones than a load from Primark (not out if snobbiness, just cos I want them to last!).

Primark bras are fine, and Asda are surprisingly good

Tomtontom · 15/03/2019 14:22

If you are a 34DD I'd look at the supermarkets. They're no different in quality than other brands.

Get some from somewhere that offer free returns, then when you've got the right size you can look at other options.

OutwithMyRemit · 15/03/2019 14:55

Just had a look at Asda online and they don't do 34DD. Is there a way you can go up one measurement and down another e.g. get a 36C or did I imagine that? I'm actually 33 inches across the bust though if that makes a difference?

Brastop
Crazy clearance
Amazon

RoseAndRose · 15/03/2019 14:58

Asda for some bizarre reason don't do DD - try 34E or 36 D

XingMing · 15/03/2019 15:01

Another vote for Brastop... also good for bikinis, especially out of summer season.

BikeRunSki · 15/03/2019 15:03

I’m a 34E and get bras from Asda. They are very good for about £5!

SorrelForbes · 15/03/2019 15:15

If you're 33" across the bust then you almost certainly aren't a 34DD as that is for someone that measures 34" underbust and 39" across.

Try re-measuring following this guide.

dreamingofsun · 15/03/2019 15:18

its a shame you cant go for a fitting. i went to john lewis after many years of wearing old bras and found i was using totally the wrong size.....38c and should have been 34f. i found this a really good investment of time and bought a few bras and was then able to buy more of theirs in the sale online as i knew my size. you book a free slot with their bra fitters

OutwithMyRemit · 15/03/2019 15:24

Oh no sorry, @SorrelForbes I'm 33 under bust and 37 over bust. Got a migraine and can't think straight despite the meds killimg most of the paim!

OutwithMyRemit · 15/03/2019 15:27

@dreamingofsun my nearest John Lewis is 2 hours away unfortunately. There is an M and S and a Debenhams about 45 mins away though.

SorrelForbes · 15/03/2019 15:44

Ah, that makes more sense! Try a 32DD/D and a 34C/D

AteTooManyCrisps · 15/03/2019 16:08

M&S are well known for being crap at fitting.

AskMeHow · 15/03/2019 16:29

I really like my Asda bras. Glad to hear I'm not the only one. Went for a fitting at Bravissimo and spent a shitload on two bras and matching pants Confused

Couldn't afford to buy a decent range there so bought a few on spec from Asda when we did the next shop in the same size and they're really good. Quality isn't the same, but they've lasted well and still look fairly new after 4 months.

ConfCall · 15/03/2019 18:40

I've ordered from Brastop and Curvy Kate sales sections recently. Went through cashback site Quidco, too.

PorterBella · 15/03/2019 18:49

I find this site very good:

lingerieoutletstore.co.uk

OutwithMyRemit · 15/03/2019 18:57

Thanks everyone. Bristol looks good, it's a £75 spend for free delivery Sad but returns are free so I guess I could over-order and then return Wink

OP posts:
OutwithMyRemit · 15/03/2019 18:58

Brastop, not Bristol! Though I've heard it's a nice place Wink. Will check out the lingerie outlet store too

dancemom · 15/03/2019 18:59

Those measurements should make you a 34C not a DD

MrsMoastyToasty · 15/03/2019 19:04

I'd recommend going to an independent lingerie shop. Actually we have one that I recommend if you decide to visit the Bristol area.
