Bought this for a wedding - what shoes?

DirtyDennis · 15/03/2019 11:37

I bought this for a late-April wedding I'm going to.

What kind of shoes should I wear with it? I can't wear high or thin heels. Flats would be ideal but I could wear a small chunky heel.

I'd ideally like to wear shoes I've already got (lots of dolly-type ones including a patent pair with a jewel cluster on the top, a pair of peep toe sling backs).

So what type of shoes would you recommend with this, please?

Can't see anything?

babysharkah · 15/03/2019 12:33

Oops seen the link now. You need sandals like the model is wearing, flats won't work

DontCallMeCharlotte · 15/03/2019 12:33

That's nice.

I'd go with the peep-toe slingbacks if you don't want to buy new (although what colour are they?). Don't actually think the ones the model is wearing are right.

I found these for someone else the other day?

I couldn't wear the ones the model's wearing - the heel is far too high and thin.

My peep toe sling-backs are black patent with a bow on the top. They might be a bit "delicate" for this jumpsuit, it's quite bold.

I'm not too keen on the Oasis ones linked but I like that kind of style.

I've got a fab pair of cream pumps that go with this jumpsuit perfectly but are too casual for a wedding. DAMMIT

You need colour in your shoes

DirtyDennis · 17/03/2019 09:52

@Unutterable Really? I really like black and white. If I was going for a colour, what colour though? There are sort of mint green flecks in the jumpsuit but I don't want to get shoes the same colour as it'd look too matchy.

Unutterable · 17/03/2019 10:09

I was going to say red but I hadn’t realised there was mint in the jumpsuit (do you mean along the edge of the leaves?). That being the case you probably can get away with just a black or white shoe. If you did want to introduce colour then any from the same palette as mint should work (so pastelly type colours - that wouldn’t normally be my first choice with so much black and white but should compliment the mint nicely). It’s a lovely jumpsuit by the way.

DirtyDennis · 17/03/2019 10:21

Yeah, the flecks are just on the edges of some of the leaves.

I was thinking of a funky clutch bag if I can find one which could be a way to introduce some colour.

I do have pink hair so I guess there's a bit of colour from there Grin

I’d wear it with heels, but failing that I think a flat very pointy shoe should be okay. I actually think you ones you describe sound fine, but it would help to see a photo of you wearing the dress and shoe options.

I’d get a yellow or pink (or similar, pastelly) clutch bag to add a bit of colour and a counterpoint to the outfit. Then in won’t matter too much if your shoes are too delicate for the jumpsuit, nor that they’re black.

namechanger0064 · 17/03/2019 10:28

I think the sandals the model is wearing is perfect. Definitely think you need a proper heel otherwise the outfit will look a bit frumpy.

DirtyDennis · 17/03/2019 10:35

I can only wear small chunky heels, not high or thin ones.

I found [https://www.newlook.com/uk/womens/footwear/shoes/sandals/wide-fit-black-lace-up-ghillie-block-heels/p/616075501?comp=Browse these] which are a bit pricey but what do you think of the style?

I'll do a photo tomorrow so you can see what the shoes I have ATM are like

I think they look nice, wear what you are comfortable in.

MumUnderTheMoon · 17/03/2019 11:03

What about these once you take the platform into account they aren't mush higher than the black ones and the pop of colour would be great.

I know you've said you can't wear thin heels, but have a look at the Clark's Linvale. I wear these for work every day, they so stable and comfortable that I can run in them!

The nude patent might work for your jumpsuit.

DirtyDennis · 17/03/2019 11:27

Ha, yes I did see the orange ones earlier actually. They're really nice too Grin

I'm not keen on the Linvale shoes, sorry @Throughabushbackwards They look okay if you work in a smart office-type environment (I don't!) but I want something a bit funky I think.

God, I'm so bloody hopeless with shoes.

Unutterable · 17/03/2019 13:00

I like those black ones you posted OP, and the orange ones. You definitely don’t sound like a nude patent kinda woman, give them a swerve!

Alsohuman · 17/03/2019 13:13

Mango has some brilliant shoes at the moment. How about these?

Alsohuman · 17/03/2019 13:14

They’ve got some lovely yellow ones too.

ZaZathecat · 17/03/2019 15:12

How about these from Primark? I have them in pink and found them comfortable for a wedding.
