Help me spend £1k on 2 bags...

I am in the fortunate position of having £1000 to spend, I have decided that I would like to get two bags, one day, one evening but which and what is another issue.

I like hobo style bags but think that I probably want something more structured so it will last better. I don't want a tote or grab bag (have already/not keen) and would prefer shoulder, maybe cross body.

I'm off to Bicester soon and hoping to maybe get one of them there. So far, after a lot of consideration I have the following options...

  1. Mulberry Amberley satchel & Ginger and Brown clutch
  2. Coach Sutton Hobo & Mulberry clutch (Amberley maybe)

What would you do, any other suggestions (not a Bayswater)?

Re colours, evening bag probably in black, day not black or tan, maybe oxblood or brown...

Sorry it's long, I wanted to give all the info!
TIA

The Darley is gorgeous- I’d definitely put that on your list

I've bought several
mulberry bags in the past (classics like Anthony and Bayswater and new bags like Greta) but I don't like the new designs or quality TBH

Have you checked DeMellier? I'm thinking of one of those next. Or a Cambridge Satchel Co Drs bag.

Enjoy the hunt!

The Darley is a perfect evening bag imo.

The lily is lovely but is less structured and will look a little tired after a while. Mine does, anyway.

The rosewater is lovely isn’t it. I’ve got a bag and scarf in that colourway on my wish list but I do agree, it’s a little nerve wracking with such a light colour. However it’s a definite hole in my wardrobe. We’ll see what actually happens.......I’ve got to to save up for it but that’s not my strong suit.

I second De Mellier London, gorgeous bags.

Naughtipidginsnest in the link above sell preloved but often immaculate/unused bags - keep checking the site (it's very reputable) to see what comes up

I was in the mulberry outlet in York on Sunday and they definitely had plenty of classics, I much prefer the older bags. I also have a cream/beige bag that I’ve used heavily for the last two summers and it doesn’t have a mark on it so don’t be too afraid of the light colours. It is in the newer leather though so maybe less likely to mark.

Thanks, I am going to go and have a look in Cheshire Oaks I think, there were lots of Bayswaters in Bicester. That's good to know re the lighter colours.

Just placemarking :)

I have the smaller size mulberry Amberley and a lily. They are great bags. Join the Facebook mulberry pages - like exclusively mulberry - there is lots of great advice and lots of bargains where people sell on bags which are barely used
