soy, it’s absolutely beautiful.

FuzzyPuffling · 08/03/2019 16:19

twosoups we used to schlep across here from Kent (starting at 4am to avoid the worst of the M25) and it was always worth it. So we moved here!

SoYo beauuutiful curls.

SoyYo · 08/03/2019 16:36

Thank you! You’re all too kind Smile

Ellapaella · 08/03/2019 17:08

Cherries fantastic! So pleased that you are delighted with the results.. ❤️
Soyo looking good 😍 your hair looks amazing! What did you think of the olaplex? Has it made a difference to how it feels? It looks beautifully shiny and glossy.

twosoups1972 · 08/03/2019 17:32

fuzzy I salute you for the 4am starts! I know other people who did that driving down to the SW from London but we could never manage it. Hence we used to leave mid-morning and it took all bloody day!

Dh surprised me with a weekend at The Scarlet Hotel for our anniversary a few years ago. We flew from Gatwick! Meant not having the car for the weekend but it was so fast!

SoyYo · 08/03/2019 18:20

@soups what a lovely thing for DH to surprise you with.
@ella tbh I can’t tell olaplex has made it softer but having the treatment and head massage was super relaxing. Hairdresser explained it strengthens the hair bond so doesn’t make it much softer but it should help hair be healthier, hold on to moisture better.

On the cut thanks again I was a bit OMG (aside the colour) at how much he cut off even if I’m pleased with the result my greatest fear is to end up looking like the curly haired matron with her short helmet curls in Call the Midwife Grin

twosoups1972 · 08/03/2019 18:36

Do you mean Nurse Crane (Phyllis?) Soy You could never look like her in a million years Grin

neveradullmoment99 · 08/03/2019 18:44

Beautiful hair @soyo. I agree with soups, you couldn't look like her in a million years. Love the colour. I don't see much grey tbh. It just looks shiny and with light bits.
@cherries so pleased you are able to shower at last and the results look amazing in your photo.
Nothing much to report here. Have been using my exercise bike and using virtual cycling clips on you tube. Cycled for around 40 mins today around catalonia!!!!! [well virtually!!!]

SoyYo · 08/03/2019 19:06

Oooh @never virtual Cataluña cycling sounds good 👌 Well done (and Gracias!)

Yes @soup that’s who I meant: Phyllis 🤣

dontcallmelen · 08/03/2019 19:59

Soy beautiful beautiful hair, curls & colour 💓
Soups lovely top.
never am impressed with virtual cycling, well done you.

Back on the train home now after a loooong day. And I appear to have been volunteered to produce something in time for another meeting on Monday...But at least I managed to get a cheap first class ticket on this leg, so am consoling myself with the free Gin trolley and stretching out my legs. The report can wait... ( the Gin may have something to do with that)

cherries - yay, I'm so glad you can finally shower, and you got the thumbs up from the surgeon. Bodies are pretty amazing come to think of it...how they can fix themselves after pretty traumatic surgery. Even if they don't always behave as you'd hope. And good news that you are feeling a bit less traumatised over the intubation. It must be a huge mental thing to get over...and hopefully not something that you need to do too often in the future, but you know it can be done stress free.

fuzzy I'm so Envy of you in Cornwall. It's a lovely part of the world even though it seems to be blowing a gale every time I've been . DH grew up there so we went back around 10 years ago (pre-DS anyway) to see some of his old haunts. We did it by train from Scotland Shock and it took bloody aaaaaages (I think we flew back via my DP on the south coast). It seemed really quick til around Exeter, and then the single tracks kicked in where the drivers had to pass a wooden spoon between them, and it seemed to take another 4hours to do the last bit... Truly beautiful though. (Though PIL moved to Devon as soon as they were retired, to be a bit "closer to stuff"). And I agree with the others. No need to try well dressed while gardening. It's futile....

soy you look amazing!!! The shape really suits you, and your hair almost looks highlighted with the different tones. EnvyEnvyGrin

soups the colour of that jumper is beautiful. And I like the back buttons. It will be really useful I reckon.

And we'll done never on the virtual cycling. That's a really good idea! All the fun of cycling outdoors without running the risk of being squashed a juggernaut or boiling to death in the sun. Win win.

Right. Back to the Gin

Laska2Meryls · 08/03/2019 21:00

Soy Such antastic hair! As a Trich person , I struggle with having hair at all, and just cannot imagine having curls like that , but I am totally wowed (and in awe) by yours.

Trichotillomania people (as I am ) are a bit weird, (as in having hair at all is a big prob for us, ) but I have managed now - after many years struggling - to have conquered it enough to at least have a full head of v short pink hair.. but it has to be v short ....anything else I cannot cope with..

BTW i have only been able to tell you all this because you are such great and understanding people..

Laska2Meryls · 08/03/2019 21:02

Not after a v long day I am home and on 3rd Wine.there may be a 4th

NotAnActualSheep · 08/03/2019 21:28

Oh dear Laska- that doesn't sound good... hope your day hasn't been too hard. You went to see DF? How is he holding up? Flowers (and maybe a tiny bit of Wine ). I'd never guess from seeing your funky pink hair that you have struggled so much. It totally suits you and definitely looks like a style choice rather than "necessity". Kudos to you Grin

dontcallmelen · 08/03/2019 21:59

Laska yy Nots pp & definitely kudos to you hope you DF & DB are ok have a 🍷 & hopefully relax💐

Laska2Meryls · 08/03/2019 22:16

Well, we are all different.. & let us celebrate this on International Women's Day as who we are .. ..

If I could be considered Beautiful and Bald, then believe me, I would,no doubt .. Anyway, but sadly I cannot ... But until then v.v.v short will do ..(and Kudos to all with long , or curly also ..I celebrate you all)..

Enough for now, you have my secret, I am in Wine and now off to bed.. (with my lovely Dh who knows all, having been with me for 25yrs now..)

Laska2Meryls · 08/03/2019 22:19

DF & DN ok Not But we are all sad and upset on and off, but that is normal I think.. DM only gone from us since November, it will take some time yet, i suppose..

Laska2Meryls · 08/03/2019 22:20

DB i meant, my Brother , (not DN)

dontcallmelen · 08/03/2019 22:33

Laska it is indeed very early days for you all, as you know my parents have been gone nearly sixteen years now & I still have days when the grief feels still quite raw, you hear a tune on the radio or a whiff of perfume or aftershave & the sense of loss rises up for a few moments.
But you do get used to it & my Dh always says as long as they are in your thoughts, they are never truly gone xx

justilou1 · 08/03/2019 23:26

@fuzzy - sorry I was confused last night. Had been out for Fizzy Friday to “celebrate” a friend giving up work and moving into a more suitable home (which is divine and she loves it), but it was bittersweet as the reason is that she is becoming increasingly disabled. We made it extra fizzy. Everyone brought food and we all cleaned up before we left. We are all so supportive of each other and try and try to help. Women are amazing creatures.
Meanwhile, a shopping trip to Cornwall to play Barbies with you would be awesome. I have friends near Cornwall who I have been promising to visit for about twenty years!

@Laska- it’s such a hard road to travel when the relationship between parent and child changes. Both of mine died after long, horrible illnesses, and even though they were not nice people at all, I came back to Australia from the Netherlands so many times with my kids (who were v. little when Dad became sick- Mum died 2 years ago) to try to be the best human I could be. It was exhausting, emotionally draining, etc... all the hard things. On top of that I had to try and fight to get my mother off the road, etc.... (And they were nasty, difficult people at their best.) It is very difficult to see that you are doing the right thing at any one time, especially if they are distressed or cross. I do hope your DF is happy and peaceful! You have my empathy.
@Soy... your hair looks so glamorous! I think you will be looking like a movie star in no time. Maybe Alex Kingston. Someone definitely sexy!!!! My hair started falling out in big chunks due to stress and perimenopause. I stopped dyeing it (and soon discovered that I’d been throwing my money away for years because my natural colour is nicer anyway!) and using silicones about four years ago. It has made a big difference! My skin is clearer too! It’s also made me question whether we should be washing silicones into the sea at all anyway!!!
How was your shower, @Cherries? Was it a game-changer?
How are you feeling, @Ella? Does knowing that this is the new normal make it feel less scary? Your heart must be so strong to have carried you along so well at part power! Can you imagine how the rest of your life will be once you have recovered and become accustomed to your superpowers?

BobbilyBoo · 09/03/2019 09:00

Hi everyone!

I was pointed in this direction last week when I was looking for some leather leggings and the hush ones were recommended.

I ordered them and I love them but there are a little longer than I would like, I was considering just taking the scissors to them as they are raw edged but I thought I should ask the experts over here first? Smile

Has anyone shortened their leather leggings? Is there a better way of doing it?

Ellapaella · 09/03/2019 09:21

@justilou1 I think I will feel better, they've said a couple of months most likely. All the research I've looked at about this shows that people who have this done have improved cardio pulmonary function at 6 months post procedure which is great, there isn't an awful lot of research out there though on long term follow up.
I was ok before - up until early this year I could run 5 k a couple of times a week without too much bother. There's always been a bit of a limit on my fitness though, I could never push myself too far and even when doing 5k I was always quite slow and would often have to slow down to get my breath at times despite having done it for several years. As a kid I was fine playing sports (hockey, netball) but would struggle with long distance running - the torture when they used to make us run 5 times round the school field omg! I always used to get recurrent chest infections as well which is another tell take symptom apparently .I always assumed that was just normal for me but now I know I've been walking round with a huge dilated right heart for years I do wonder whether now my exercise capacity will eventually improve.
It would be great if it did, maybe one day I'll be able to do the Great North Run!

I've just discovered a great FB group called 'styled by Susie' - it's a bit like our thread, lots of lovely peeps sharing a style tips and inspiration.

My striped wide jersey top is on its way but still at the main sorting office so looks like Monday for my delivery.

dontcallmelen · 09/03/2019 09:28

Bobbily hi, I don’t have the leggings, but a few posters on the thread do, tbh as they are so expensive I would be worried about possible damage, I would have them professionally shortnend sure someone will be along who has them soon & they could advise.

dontcallmelen · 09/03/2019 09:41

Ella it’s mad isn’t it, walking around with a heart that doesn’t work properly, I’m constantly amazed at how the body can compensate & adjust, I had no symptoms at all was as fit as a fiddle until I had the stroke & the DCM was diagnosed, so I would imagine that your body will take time to make adjustments & that over the few months you will gradually feel the improvement in blood flow, also it must have a huge psychological effect & that takes time to get your head around.
You will definitely being doing the Great North Run💐

ilovecherries · 09/03/2019 09:41

bobbily, I have the leggings and to be honest, I just tuck the extra up inside. It sort of sticks to itself and never budges and you can’t see it - and it also gives me flexibility for different shoes/boots.
