Why the buggeration can't I get this hair colour?

Just had hair coloured again. Another new hairdresser. More bleach. Hair has been bleached that much that its on the verge of turning into chewing gum. Had the usual chat - clean blonde, not yellow, cool, ashy, not platinum though etc. Yeah, yeah, easy, can do that, not far off it anyway...... Showed them the obligatory picture. Have come away with super light, almost white blonde, rather than that lovely ashy blonde that seems so bloody elusive. Have washed it in purple shampoo but it's still not right. Wtf do I need to do?????

So the first pic is what I took in. The bottom colour is what I wanted. This is what I got

Try the bleach London white toner. It took my bleached hair from yellow to a creamy ashy white.

RuggyPeg · 05/03/2019 18:22

Ok, right, ok, so, I know it looks pretty dam close on those pics but it's not IRL. It's just not. Hhmmm. I'm just going to get comments now saying it's exactly what you asked for.....

I've got that toner. It'll surely just make it even whiter?

OP posts:
Lightsabre · 05/03/2019 18:25

It looks far whiter/silvery than the sample you took in. Can you complain?

EggbertHeartsTina · 05/03/2019 18:31

I know this misses the point entirely but I’m jealous of what you actually got.
You could look at the wella koleston range if you were confident mixing yourself? www.wella.com/professional/m/_master/products/koleston_perfect/PDFs/Koleston-Perfect_UsageBooklet.pdf

RuggyPeg · 05/03/2019 18:40

Oh jeez no, I darent try anything myself at the mo. It's on the brink of falling out! I'm just going to do loads of treatments on it, get a bit more cut off, play around with some temporary toners and avoid hairdressers for the rest of eternity.

This isn’t helpful at all but I LOVE the colour you have ended up with!

Girlinstripedpyjamas · 05/03/2019 20:35

I can see what you mean. No advice though sorry. It does look white but looks lovely and soft. I wouldn’t look and think it was bad at all!

NiceUnusualDifferent · 05/03/2019 20:46

Mine is very similar to what you are after, the hairdresser calls mine a dirty blonde. Mine is darker than yours (level 8) but the same tones.

RuggyPeg · 05/03/2019 20:56

It's not lovely and soft now I've washed it. It feels like synthetic dolls hair.

Try this shampoo. I found the bleach purple shampoo was very strong (my hair went bluey/purple at the ends!). This is a softer, gentler version.

Blueemeraldagain · 05/03/2019 21:01

and this did wonders for my over processed hair.

Winenotttea · 05/03/2019 21:21

My over bleached hair is like cotton wool, it takes bloody ages to dry as it’s sooo porous and right now I can’t even waft the straighteners near it without it singeing. The ends are horrendous, that’s the downside of the crap I’ve put it through to have silver grey hair.

My go to shampoo and conditioner is Wella Professional Brilliance for coloured thick hair, it’s miracle stuff. To counteract brassiness I also shampoo once a week with Schwarzkopf BC PH 4.5 colour feeeze silver shampoo and deep condition with Schwarzkopf BlondMe cool blonde tone enhancing mask.

Once dried it feels reasonably soft and silky. I also then use Tigi bedhead headrush spray shine very liberally and no one would notice how crap it actually is.

Winenotttea · 05/03/2019 21:24

You can also get a Wella Pro brilliance leave in spray conditioner and the same from the Schwarzkopf bonacure silver blonde range. I use both.
I promise that this isn’t an Ad, I work in IT 😂

Monkeyshorts · 05/03/2019 21:37

I think it's a nice colour, maybe go back and ask for some other colours to break it up a bit? This is mine.

I've got the bleach London pearlesence shampoo and conditioner already. I've just ordered some kerastase and some other industrial strength conditioner and have a mask on now to sleep in. First world problems but I could cry. I'm fat and old with a face like a melted welly and now ive royally fucked up my hair and look like Madge off benidorm. I'm going to have to get another raft of it cut off.

I think you need some low light baby foils mixed through. Lots of Olaplex for a few weeks then try again?

Winenotttea · 05/03/2019 21:46

Hey, don’t be so down on yourself, I’m sure that it’s not that bad , #big-hug x
With the right products you’ll be as right as rain.
I don’t know how to scribble out eyes in my iPad photo app but I can PM you a pic of me and my hair, it’s not falling out and I manage it quite well. We can be crap hair buddies 😊 xxx

bitofabelly · 05/03/2019 21:52

Low lights defo to break up the blonde and plenty of purple shampoo...

RuggyPeg · 05/03/2019 21:58

No way could it take any more messing with at the mo. It was bleached twice in a week about 3 months ago and now this. It's beyond olaplex!! Thanks for being kind tho everyone. Crap hair buddies 😂🤗

Op, my hair looks like Hagrid off Harry Potter. And that's on a good day. From what I can see of your hair it looks nice, even if you don't think so.

Wait a while, then try and get some lowlights in just to break up the colour a bit. I don't think it will take much to get what you want.

Don't feel down Thanks

Winenotttea · 05/03/2019 22:07

I’ll let you into a secret, I go the hairdresser every 6 weeks. Apart from a couple of weeks ago every single appointment has been at least 4 hours long and has involved at least 2 rounds of bleach.....
The longest session was 7 hours and 4 bleaches in a day. That was on my insistence as I know that my hair won’t fall out and I know how to treat it post crap hair treatment. What was hilarious that day was that I was consigned to ‘the back room’ where the regular clients couldn’t see the disaster that was in progress! In fact, I spent more time sitting in a garden chair (out the back) than I did in a salon chair 😂 lucky that the weather was fab!
I’ll add though that I’ve been going to my hairdresser for years and that we know and trust each other implicitly.

Winenotttea · 05/03/2019 22:11

The reason that my hair has taken such a battering is that I used to have it dyed bright orange, I kid you not. Going from orange to silver, as I have learned, is not easy.
One time I went overboard with the orange amd my lovely husband logged onto my Facebook account and replaced my profile pic with one of an Orangutan 😂

RuggyPeg · 05/03/2019 22:36

Bloody hell wine, your hair sounds like it could withstand a nuclear blast!
