DP and I are getting married in August. Pretty casual affair as it the second marriage for the both of us. We'll be getting married in a south London registry office, followed by a Reception in a live local gastro pub.

I'm in need of help with accessorising my dress. Needs to be v reasonable in terms of price! I don't generally wear jewellery day to day so I'm struggling. I like Art Deco style stuff - and prefer understated and subtle where possible! Please help!

Would you wear a bright shoe? Have you a colour scheme in mind at all?

AdaColeman · 03/03/2019 16:43

How are you having your hair?
Are you going to carry flowers?
What's your colouring Psychologika?

I think an imitation single strand grey pearl necklace and small drop earrings would look very classy/timeless.
Maybe an orchid or a couple of calla lilies pinned in your hair?

Bright pink shoes? Or metallic perhaps?

SteelRiver · 03/03/2019 17:04

Is the dress by Bombshell London? It's stunning!

I was also thinking of shoes in a stand out colour, and a decor style bracelet. If you do wear a necklace, maybe something simple, slim & elegant would work; the neckline of the dress is so lovely and will make the most of showing your neck and collarbone.

I think a bouquet arrangement of exotic flowers would look beautiful against the dress.

Psychologika · 03/03/2019 17:45

So, to answer some questions! Yes, it's Bombshell London dress, I've a few and I love the way they fit ☺️

I've attached a pic to show my colouring, outting, but, sod it!

DP is a bit shorter than me (and I want to be comfy!) so I will likely wearing a kitten heel. Probably in pale gold which I love.

My hair? Hmm. I have lots of very curly hair that I can't really do much with myself, so will probably be as is!

I have nothing to add OP, other than that you are exceptionally pretty!

AdaColeman · 03/03/2019 19:56

With your lovely smile you will be beautiful whatever you wear.

Pale gold shoes would look super, and you'll have a lot of choice for other items too.
John Lewis have got quite a lot of Art Deco inspired jewellery in at the moment with a range of prices, so worth a look on line for you.

Psychologika · 03/03/2019 19:57

@HarrySnotter gosh, that's really kind 🙈

OP I think a droplet necklace (because of the neckline) with a gemstone colour maybe matching DH tie would be nice. Your gorgeous anyway so minimal jewellery with a nice clutch and shoes that pop.

I love rubies so I would go with Silver and red jewellery but thats me.

Usuallyinthemiddle · 03/03/2019 20:08

Nothing to add. It's stunning. You're going to look so beautiful! I have huuuge hair envy!

Girlinstripedpyjamas · 03/03/2019 20:15

You are beautiful. I love the grey pearls idea

Nacreous · 03/03/2019 20:17

I'd be tempted by a lovely baroque pearl necklace in black or grey:

Sorry about the terrible link. Not sure how it would go with gold shoes, but I think it would be fab with the dress.

Dextrodependant · 03/03/2019 20:20

Wow you are really very pretty and I love your hair.

sue51 · 03/03/2019 20:27

That's a great dress and you look very naturally pretty and will be a stunning bride. I would keep jewellery to a minimum and go for bright shoes and maybe a bracelet to draw attention to your hands and new wedding ring.

Psychologika · 03/03/2019 21:07

Thank you, all. Some really good ideas to get me thinking. I'm glad you all seem to like the dress, I love it!

Has anyone seen any nice droplet style necklaces? How about earrings? Should they match do you think?

A friend of mine had a vintage era wedding and bought some accessories from here. Not sure if they will be your thing but we did find some good pieces and reasonably priced www.honeymcouturebridal.com/shop

Psychologika · 04/03/2019 10:10

@64632K ooh, some lovely things on this site ☺️

I think a solitaire gold pendant would look amazing.

Gentlemanwiththistledownhair · 04/03/2019 11:55

With your hair and colouring, I reckon you could go quite big with a statement pair of art deco style earrings. Especially as everything else is simple. Keep the metal gold to tie in with the shoes and choose a colour you think suits. I'd be tempted by a green / teal, so not too bright but lovely jewel tones.

Etsy have some lovely options:

For example, but there are much more ornate ones too:

I love these:

Sorry about the messy links!

Gentlemanwiththistledownhair · 04/03/2019 11:58

Personally, I would wear statement earrings and a gold bracelet with that neckline (personal preference - I don't wear a lot of necklaces). But if you do want to wear a necklace, I think complementary pieces, but not completely matching looks better. Eg both gold and the same stone, but different shapes. Keep within the same style though, ie both art deco inspired

www.johnlewis.com/john-lewis-partners-semi-precious-stone-hammered-disc-pendant-necklace/rose-gold-moonstone/p3909155

What do people think of this?

OP posts:
EgremontRusset · 04/03/2019 12:36

Hmm, I think with a v neck dress you need a curved line to the necklace, not another v shape.

AdaColeman · 04/03/2019 12:43

It's very pretty, though you might need a shorter chain. I'd keep the necklace quite high, close to the base of your throat, to let the neckline of the dress show well and clearly, not cluttered by a chain.

While the statement earrings are a good idea, if your hair is going to be down and forward around your face as in your photo, the impact of statement earrings would be lost underneath your lovely curls.

TrainSong · 04/03/2019 12:44

You have such gorgeous hair, I'd wear a big white flower in it, pinned back slightly so we can see your face.

If you Gog=ogle art deco pendant and bracelet set there ar eloads of surprisingly understated ones that would work well with that dress.

I'd wear silver jewellery and silver strappy sandals.
