I cannot believe this £5 Primark foundation

It’s amazing!

I bought it on a whim as all my usual (expensive) foundations have started to disagree with my face (breaking up, going patchy, shininess etc).

I’ve used the Primark one for a week now and it doesn’t do any of that, the colour match is perfect and I’m so pleased, it looks as good now as it did first thing and I’ve worked today so usually my skin looks a bit undone by now.

It’s the one that I think is their attempt at double wear but it’s not as full coverage as that, however that also means it doesn’t go cakey. It is slightly fragranced too so that might not be for some people.

I’m so rarely impressed by things nowadays I thought I’d pass on.

Are their Mac-esque lipsticks any good?

Ooh I'm tempted to hunt it out. What did you put underneath it??

DrBuckles · 02/03/2019 17:34

I can’t get on with primer so I’ve just used my moisturiser (I’ve used 3 different ones this week as I’ve been travelling and they’ve all worked just as well). A bit of powder on top and that’s it.

I have needed a bit of concealer on some spots I had (that I had before using this) where I might not have needed it with double wear or Mac but I can live with that for the other benefits.

Deffo, price being one of them!

xxlucybxx · 02/03/2019 17:39

What's it called?

SixFeetUnder · 02/03/2019 17:40

I think it's great too and their cheaper foundation (think it's £3) is really good for everyday use as well if you don't like as heavy a foundation for during the day. I use the £5 one for nights out.
Their £3 false eyelashes are brilliant too, best ones I've used actually.
No idea about their lipsticks though, will be interested to find out.

SixFeetUnder · 02/03/2019 17:41

Can't remember what it's called but it's in a square glass bottle for the £5 one (no pump which is slightly annoying).

SixFeetUnder · 02/03/2019 17:43

Just googled. It's My Perfect Colour Longwear Ultimate Matte Foundation.

xxlucybxx · 02/03/2019 17:53

Nice one I'll give it a punt for a fiver, thanks for sharing!

DrBuckles · 03/03/2019 09:01

This is the one I have- I wonder if they’ve maybe slightly changed the name of it

Might give it a try, I'm in the market for a new foundation!

Their gel look nail polish is also amazing, it's only £1, yes, £1!!! And is better than some more expensive brand name actual gel polish I have used. I got a nice grey colour first and loved it so much I went back and purchased all the other colours!

LoniceraJaponica · 03/03/2019 09:51

DD bought some the other week. The colour looked fine in the shop, but makes her look too orange in daylight.

SrSteveOskowski · 03/03/2019 15:52

I knew it would be this one before I opened the thread. Totally agree, it's bloody brilliant! It's the only foundation I have ever worn that's not coming off by lunch time but I don't find it drying either.

Also agree with @MrBrown, those gel polishes are amazing. They last 3-4 days on me without chipping. Normally nail polish chips on me after 3-4 HOURS.

Wendywoo1000 · 03/03/2019 19:47

I use the £2.50 medium coverage one. Love it! Still there at the end of the day. Must put it in quickly after moisturiser as it helps it blend in. This morning i waited and it was harder work!

Love their lippy for 90p and liner for £1. Found 2 that matched perfectly.

Plural · 03/03/2019 21:23

I have this and the estee l double wear. I use this day to day because of price and it's brill

Double wear does last longer but this lasts a good 12 hours
Just make sure you're well moisturised

emilybrontescorsett · 03/03/2019 21:29

Thanks for posting this.I
I bought the mascara for £2.50 and I really like it.

fairiesandelves · 03/03/2019 23:20

"You do you Babe" lipstick by primark is a dupe of Macs velvet teddy. £2.50 stays on ages and funky packaging too ! I bought their "glow foundation" on Saturday as recommended by a friend. Goes on like a dream and not too thick for day. Going back tomorrow for the double Matt one now. And they've got good SPF ! Usually wear Estee double wear but god it's so expensive.

winsinbin · 04/03/2019 16:16

While you are in the high st bargain hunting look in Poundland for the Good to Glow bronzing powder. It’s lovely, not matte, but not glittery, just a very natural sheen and hint of colour. Just lovely.

needsleepzzz · 04/03/2019 16:23

Thanks for sharing this, was considering buying but will deffo go for it now, just got to shade match.....
I have used their primer, very good, as is the charcoal miceller water. False nails are good too, had them on 9 days and i type a lot in my job.
Their perfumes are nice too, i have 3 fragrances and they are lovely, last too.
Thanks for the bronzer tip @winsinbin, always find those hard to buy

Heulog · 04/03/2019 16:29

Yes OP! Thier foundation is my favourite (I get breakouts, and I get dark circles under my eyes, this foundation sorts me out without concealer) I think they recently changed packaging slightly - see my pic, but I'm sure it's the same stuff inside. We live a good hour and a half away from a primark but I make a point of stocking up when I can.

And it has an SPF 15 as well. Fab.

Blankscreen · 04/03/2019 18:04

I also really rate the gel nail varnish.

I've got a lip pencil and lip gloss both of which are really good.

In going to try the other bits too, now.

fairiesandelves · 04/03/2019 20:18

I bought the double Matt foundation today from Primark. Good colour for me. Ill try it out tomorrow. Also 2 gel polishes which I never knew they even sold til reading this thread ! Got nude and a dove grey. I'm going back for the taupe tomorrow.

If anyone has a home bargains near them their "Olivia Hale" makeup (£1 every item I think) is worth a look. I wear the matt lip in naked mauve stays on ages. There's also a matching lip liner and gloss. I bought 4 of each to keep in the car, handbag, makeup drawer and kitchen drawer.

fairiesandelves · 04/03/2019 20:20

Thanks for the Poundland tip. It's next door to my local primark so I'll go there too.
Pics below meant for my last post

Bloodylegoeverywhere · 04/03/2019 22:17

Great ideas re primark, will take a trip there next week as I need some new foundation. Thanks Smile

Floralhousecoat · 07/03/2019 17:15

Can anyone say whether this foundation might be suitable for drier skins? The word matte is putting me off slightly. However, really tempted to buy it when my current one runs out. And I even found a colour match within the extremely narrow shade range, which with my Indian skintone is bloody hard in most foundation brands.
