That is balayage

LaurieFairyCake · 28/02/2019 17:09

Yep, looks lovely

BirthdayKake · 28/02/2019 17:12

No I don't think it is? I had mine done yesterday and it looks nothing like that. But your hair is beautiful!

clairestandish · 28/02/2019 17:13

Looks balayage to me. Balayage can vary, did you show her a picture of what you wanted?

ILoveMaxiBondi · 28/02/2019 17:15

No it isn’t what I would expect if I asked for balayage. I wouldn’t be happy.

youaremyrain · 28/02/2019 17:17

Need to see a pick of it overall, preferably the back

TheRealHousewifeofCheshire · 28/02/2019 17:18

No i wouldnt say it is

LettuceP · 28/02/2019 17:23

Looks like balayage to me.

JacquettaW · 28/02/2019 17:32

Looks like balayage to me too. What about it isn't what you were expecting?

rosesareredvioletsareblu · 28/02/2019 17:43

I think I just thought the roof area would still be quite dark

Root

Hiphopopotamous · 28/02/2019 17:46

Did they ask you how high up you'd like your balayage? I like dark roots so mine starts the balayage about 2 inches down

BirthdayKake · 28/02/2019 17:53

This is mine. Sorry about picture quality, my 7yo took it!

Hoddykins · 28/02/2019 17:53

That is a balyage, it looks more natural and blended.

Ombré is where you leave quite a lot of natural root etc.

It looks so lovely though! It's really low maintenance and looks like it's blended lovely into your hair!

presentcontinuous · 28/02/2019 17:54

Balayage literally means "sweep" because the colour is swept through the hair (whole head unless you say otherwise), like traditional highlights but done in a way that looks more natural, not stripy.

So that looks balayage to me. Were you wanting a dip-dye type look then?

Hoddykins · 28/02/2019 17:54

This is my balyage, but as a previous poster said, it depends how high you wanted it

This isn't a balayage is it?
HJWT · 28/02/2019 17:56

No this is highlights

HJWT · 28/02/2019 17:58

This is balayage with a darker root

JacquettaW · 28/02/2019 18:09

Is it finished though? Mine looks similar to yours at the moment but what HJWT posted is the end goal. I started dark brown too and it didn't lift as much as we had hoped. It will lift more with each time and get lighter

HJWT · 28/02/2019 18:41

This was my before & after and I asked for a natural balayage

That's nice ..@HJWT how many attempts did that take ?

OP posts:
OnTheFrow · 28/02/2019 19:23

@HJWT has balyage the OP doesn't

Cloudtree · 28/02/2019 19:26

I think you’re mixing up ombré and balayage. You’ve been given balayage and it’s a decent job too.

Bigonesmallone3 · 28/02/2019 19:33

Can u upload another shot, just looks like highlights currently

Cloudtree · 28/02/2019 19:36

Balayage is handpainted sweeping highlights. You can tell the op has balayage since the lighter pieces start at different places on her head. That is where the stylist has made an artistic decision as to how to paint the hair to give a more natural and uneven look to the lightened pieces.
