Boots No 7 new foundation- anyone used it?

JinglingHellsBells · 28/02/2019 13:45

anyone tried it?
The one in a tube £15.

I tried some on my hand today and asked for a sample but they didn't have any tester pots.

I really don't like sitting in Boots having my face done so declined her offer to try it out and TBH I know my own skin and don't need a 'consultation' I just wanted to try a little bit!

Anyone used it?

Does it last- it's quite creamy.

Yes. I started a thread about this last week which had positive replies.

So got some the other day. Coverage seems good, it lasts. Someone asked me yesterday what foundation I use as it looks nice which is the first-time ever I've been complimented on my foundation.

JinglingHellsBells · 28/02/2019 14:00

Thanks!

I was using Dior Star and it's been discontinued.

I have got also Clinique Even Better Glow which is nice but have yet to find the perfect shade in Clinique- am using breeze which is slightly too pink even though it's supposed to be neutral.

My other choice is Bobbi Brown Stick Foundation but again, Porcelain is pretty pale on me yet the next shade up is slightly too yellow.

I was impressed that Boots had a shade lighter than Calico, but trying it on my hand it looks too pale- which is very rare for me.

It looks like a dupe of the IT CC cream.....?

DratThatCat · 28/02/2019 15:21

I use it. I struggled to find a foundation that was pale enough but the no 7 tube one is perfect. It covers well, stays on and doesn't make my eyes sting, so I definitely recommend it.

JinglingHellsBells · 02/03/2019 12:14

Just to report back.

I've bought it in Calico. What I find about Boots foundations is that the same shades come up differently in the different foundations.

I tested the Porcelain in the new one and it looked too pink for me.

I may be able to wear the next shade up in summer.

Calico is a reasonable match though still just on the pink side of neutral, perhaps?

I compare the texture with Clinique Even Better Glow- this one has the sheen and the same consistency and is dewy- maybe too dewy to last without some light powder.

The Clinique EBG though it not the right colour for me- I bought it in Breeze and it's far too pink even though it's sold as a 'neutral'.

The new Boots one was a bargain- there is a coupon in their latest mag for 250 points so it only cost £12,50 in effect and I was able to use a double points coupon with it as well.

Which is the new boots one? Could someone put a pic up or the name please,
Does it work for oily skin?

NicoAndTheNiners · 02/03/2019 12:22

It's the No 7 hydraluminous foundation. My skin is dry so not sure what it's like on oily skin, sorry.

TheHodgeoftheHedge · 02/03/2019 12:24

I like it lots for the price. Good coverage. Good colours. For the price, it’s the best thing on the market!

TheHodgeoftheHedge · 02/03/2019 12:25

Ps even better than the foundation is the concealer in the same range absolutely amazing and I love the smooth consistency.

Layoverlife · 02/03/2019 12:57

@NicoAndTheNiners

Thank you Smile

JinglingHellsBells · 02/03/2019 13:01

For me, it's all about the colour range available.

I've got reasonably good skin though need something very pigmented for under eye circles (concealer.)

In the past I've used Dior (now discontinued and I don't like the replacement), Clinique and Bobbi Brown. The plus for me is the shade ranges of higher end brands.

I am pale and often the pale shades are too pink, too yellow, ghostly white, or just too dark.

I've lost count of the Holy Grail foundations I've loved and which were discontinued after a few years.

(like the old Clinique Repair Wear.)

TheHodgeoftheHedge · 02/03/2019 13:15

Jingling you sound exactly like me! I am so pale that to find a good colour match I end up looking like a ghost.
I have recently been on a massive foundation search with very little joy. And I used to love the old Clinique candle glow foundation but hate all the new ones.

I’m trying to find some time to drive out to somewhere that stocks Charlotte Tilbury as everyone keeps talking about her foundations and “glows” which is exactly what I’m after.

NabooThatsWho · 02/03/2019 13:22

What’s the coverage like?

I currently use the No7 matte foundation, which has very good coverage. I heard the other No7 foundations are lighter coverage.

I love heavy coverage but would like a bit of a glow with it.

NabooThatsWho · 02/03/2019 13:22

Say coverage much Blush

NicoAndTheNiners · 02/03/2019 13:39

I think the coverage is fine. I prefer med-heavy coverage without looking like it's been put on with a towel....so still "natural". I think it achieves that.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 02/03/2019 13:45

I like full coverage because I have rosacea. I’m using maybaline 24 hr wear. It’s good coverage although the colour is a bit pink. I used no7 in the past and it was too light coverage.

JinglingHellsBells · 02/03/2019 14:49

@TheHodgeoftheHedge

I'm going to look at Nars again and Estee Lauder BW Water one!

Nars Glow- I used Gobi (they are really mean- won't offer samples or refunds) and it was a lovely foundation but Gobi was too yellow and Siberia too pale.

Now my Dior Star has gone (the replacement is full of alcohol) I'm back to Bobbi Brown stick ( Porcelain is just a tiny bit too pale but next one up too dark- I guess I could buy both and mix!)

Dior Star in ivory was perfect - it was pale and although neutral had a very light yellow tone that seemed to light up my skin.

I wanted to try this but I emailed Boots and it hasn’t been tested to see if it’s non comedogenic so I couldn’t risk it as I have v sensitive skin that clogs up easily. Currently having a nightmare with it in general so not risking anything new.
Its a shame as it looks nice

m0therofdragons · 02/03/2019 16:22

I always use no7 foundation - stay perfect or lift and luminate - as I'm allergic to most others. I love it but thought I'd give the new one a try. I'm wearing it today for the first time and seems really nice so far. Went on well without being too heavy while giving great coverage. I'm happy with it.

m0therofdragons · 02/03/2019 16:25

@cleaningadvice have you tried a makeup removing cloth with just water? I have the norwex one. Usually I hate mlms but this purchase was good as it's seriously helped reduce blackheads in just the first 2 days.

SatsumaFan · 02/03/2019 16:34

Ooh. Am looking for a new foundation, as have used Double Wear Light for years but am not sure about the new formula? Seems a lot more watery.

This review is positive so will try and get to a big Boots soon - thanks OP!

@JinglingHellsBells

Agree on Nars being tight with the samples. I’m Mont Blanc with them and did find it the best of the expensive foundations but not so good I wanted to spend £30 if you know what I mean?
I did find that on eBay there are lots of samples being offered for a couple of pounds so actually bought some that way to try. Not ideal but better than splurging all that money and not being happy.

reallemonade · 03/03/2019 07:53

I tried it and didn't like, not a fan of No7 tbh. The EL DW nude is really good, or one of the heavier formulations if need more coverage. I also like Lancome Teint.

JinglingHellsBells · 03/03/2019 09:50

@TheHodgeoftheHedge

Yes I agree. thanks for the tip about samples.

I am going to try EL Double wear Water Nude or whatever it's called :)

The No 7 is quite nice but I can see it may wear off without powder. I'll keep it as my everyday one and use it up.
The packaging isn't great- as it's quite runny, it tends to ooze out of the tube- I think it needs a bottle packaging.

Calico is okay- it's a good match BUT when I compare it with Dior Star in Ivory which is brilliant for me, it's more pink.

DS Ivory is classed as neutral but has quite a yellow tinge imo and it seems to light up my face more than other neutral shades. shame it's now discontinued. The replacement is more like Lancome Teinte Idole - very alcoholic and perfumed.

"I am pale and often the pale shades are too pink, too yellow, ghostly white, or just too dark."

DD has this problem as well. I will be near a Boots later today and will see if she can try some.
