Truly budgeproof mascara

Could anyone recommend some completely smudge proof, waterproof mascaras please.
I'm a contact lens wearer and think I must also touch my eyes and whatever mascara I try I look like a panda within 4 hours and need to go and wipe smudges off under my eyes (and annoyingly this is difficult as the mascara then seems to be budgeproof!!!)
In the last year I have tried varying budgets of mascara from Lancôme to No7 to Rimmel (all waterproof) and all have failed.
I loved the Lancôme Hypnose waterproof the most but I still looked like I ate bamboo by lunchtime.....
Thanks!!

Why not dye them? I used to do this at home.

SpeckledyHen · 16/02/2019 17:59

Eyeko Sport waterproof doesn’t budge .

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 16/02/2019 17:59

Isn’t it he’d to get off though?

Beesneeze82 · 16/02/2019 18:02

You mention No7 but have you tried this
www.boots.com/no7/no7-3-for-2/no7-stay-perfect-mascara-10156448
It doesn't smudge at all. It is tear proof but comes off in flakes if you rub when it's wet. So it's easy to remove but if you rubbed your eyes swimming it would come away. But you wouldn't look panda like!

I second Eyeko. £10 for travel size on M&S website.

I removed it with Simple eye makeup remover pads.

But seriously doesn't budge if you get your face wet in the sea for example.

Beesneeze82 · 16/02/2019 18:05

P.s i also wear contacts and hear your pain but the No7 stay perfect has been a game changer for me

SpeckledyHen · 16/02/2019 18:07

Eyeko removes easily with any oil based remover . I use Bodyshop Camomile or even Almond Oil .

Thecreosotekid · 16/02/2019 18:16

The travel size eyeko on M&S website - it doesn’t say it’s waterproof? Do you know if it’s as good? Thanks. I’m 58 and STILL trying to find a mascara that doesn’t smudge on me 🙈

TrainSong · 16/02/2019 18:18

I use Maybelline Colossal waterproof in the bright yellow packaging. It doesn;t smudge but it also doesn;t flake like so many waterproff mascaras do, so it stays looking good all day.

SheldonandMama · 16/02/2019 18:22

I have tried a number of waterproof mascaras. This is what I discovered. It's not the mascara running, it's the eye cream or moisturiser softening it throughout the day. The solution for me has been to use Laura Mercier eye brightening powder before applying mascara. Now it rarely smudges.

The waterproof one is amazing, I always end up looking like a panda but with this I don't!!

Thanks Speckledy I didn’t see that. Need new glasses as well as mascara I think.

Thecreosotekid · 16/02/2019 18:57

I’ve ordered the travel sized eyeko sports one and collect it tomorrow. Will report back on Monday after a day’s wear.

Fridaysgirl · 16/02/2019 21:00

Thanks for the eyeko recommendation. I'm also interested that this might be due to my moisturiser.

I use one from Clinique - can't remember the name but sounds similar to the no7 one. It dries hard and doesn't move until you wet it and rub. After years of not bothering with mascara because of panda eyes, this has been a revelation!

wishingforalotterywin · 16/02/2019 22:29

The Clinique one is lash power. Amazing. Every other type smudges on me.
Ask at the counter if it's ok for contacts
Google tubing mascara for explanation

wishingforalotterywin · 16/02/2019 22:38

Sorry I just checked and my favourite is actually Clinique high impact curling mascara, removed with warm water

bakingcupcakes · 16/02/2019 22:42

I use No7 stay perfect. It's in a gold tube. I need warm water to remove it. It's really good.

LemonRedwood · 16/02/2019 22:47

Loreal double extension (red and white tube). It's a tubing mascara and has stayed put for me through rubbing of eyes, sweating/oily skin and full on snotty sobbing (not all at the same time Grin although it would probably cope).

I hope they never stop making it because it's my mascara nirvana.

Threeguysmommy · 17/02/2019 01:53

Estée Lauder double wear mascara sorted this issue for me ( also contact lense wearer), no panda eyes again 😀

MarthasGinYard · 17/02/2019 02:22

EL doublewear

Have to keep going back to it

Probably the mineral content of your foundation/eye creams may not help.

earlybirdhasanap · 17/02/2019 03:16

I use no. 7 stay perfect. After years of having panda eyes half way through the shift it's been brilliant.

Oceanbliss · 17/02/2019 03:40

Fridaysgirl I have this exact same problem. I'm going to try LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD idea.

ThanksItHasPockets · 17/02/2019 06:40

Yes, you need a ‘tubing’ mascara. Eyeko, Blinc, several Clinique (inc Lash Power and Flutter to Full), EL DW and L’Oréal Beauty Tubes are all tubing. The descriptions don’t always use the word ‘tubing’ but the clue is if they say it can be removed with warm water. Tubing mascara doesn’t budge except with water 37°C plus.
