How to prevent smelly underarms 🤮

Makeupaddikt · 15/02/2019 16:41

Hi sorry to write about this horrible subject but well I have horrible smelly underarms, I shave frequently, and shower daily, use deodorant (no particular kind just whatever is on offer) and I still find my underarms are smelly.

Does anyone have any idea what I can do to get rid of this?

Do you wear clean clothes everyday? If you do I’d go to the pharmacy and ask for a recommendation for a good anti-perspirant from the pharmacist.

Pinkyyy · 15/02/2019 16:44

Do you use deodorant or anti-perspirant?

Thecritchic · 15/02/2019 16:45

Im quite interested in the solution to smelly underarms as well. Sorry I can't be of help.

homegrownmumma · 15/02/2019 16:45

The sure deodorant that cost £4-£5 are amazing ! Give them a try I'm sure it will fix the issue !

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 15/02/2019 16:46

Coal
Tar
Soap.

Really transformed my whiff.

dementedpixie · 15/02/2019 16:46

Try using soap instead of shower gel. Is it anti perspirant you are using? I like sanex and garnier minerals roll on

TheWitchwithNoName · 15/02/2019 16:46

Soap, not shower gel and was pits twice

TheWashingMachine · 15/02/2019 16:47

Anti-perspirant like Sure mentioned up thread, wash with a bar of soap, clean clothes and undies every day.

FindaPenny · 15/02/2019 16:47

I second the sure deodorant recommendation.... They are really great.

lanbro · 15/02/2019 16:48

Use something like Driclor or Perspirex - you apply it at night, don't shave for a couple of days or it will irritate, then wash off and don't apply any deodorant. It stops me sweating completely for weeks at a time, and I used to suffer badly from sweat patches, although wasn't smelly

ThursdayLastWeek · 15/02/2019 16:48

Deodorant doesn’t work for me, it has to be anti perspirant.
And it has to be spray otherwise I get horrible itchy pits!

TheWashingMachine · 15/02/2019 16:48

Also dry pits well after washing ie use a cold hair drier and then apply anti perspirant to dry skin and give another blast on the hairdryer to dry deo

PoachedEggOnToast · 15/02/2019 16:49

Make sure you are washing your clothes on a hot wash with biological detergent and like other posters have said use a bar of soap instead of shower gel and make sure the deodorant says anti-perspirant as opposed to just a body spray type deo.

miggeldysthepres · 15/02/2019 16:50

Are you sure it's not your clothes? I had a real problem in the past , minutes after getting dressed I would pong, solved it by soaking underarms ( of the clothes, not MY underarms Grin) in white vinegar before washing, worked a treat.

EL2019 · 15/02/2019 16:51

You an get a product called Trust from Boots. It kills the bacteria that make the smell. Put it on once a week after using soap and water and you’ll have fresh pits for a week - honest!

Makeupaddikt · 15/02/2019 16:51

Thanks everyone, I’m not sure if it’s anti perspiration or deodorant 🤔 will have to check, but will defo check the other ideas and I do change clothes every day.

Youcouldbemysilversprings · 15/02/2019 16:52

Mitchum, the dry roll on, it really works for me 24 hours of freshness.

Youcouldbemysilversprings · 15/02/2019 16:52

Oh and use soap to wash under your arms, like imperial leather.

Iggly · 15/02/2019 16:52

Is it your actual pits that smell or is it when you’re wearing clothes?

Sakura7 · 15/02/2019 16:52

Definitely use soap instead of shower gel. If it's really bad use Dettol soap, that should sort it out.

I find unscented deodorants best as a lot of scented ones 'turn' on me. The Nivea sensitive roll on is my personal favourite.

MeetJoeTurquoise · 15/02/2019 16:53

Yep soap not shower gelhere too. Completely stopped the whiffs.

Narya · 15/02/2019 16:57

Mitchum roll on. Also try not to wear tops made of synthetic fabrics as much as possible. Check the underarms of your tops don't smell already before you put them on (hot wash if they do).

Makeupaddikt · 15/02/2019 16:57

Iggly it’s my actual pits, it doesn’t matter what clothes I wear I always smell? Even at night, but I’m going to try the vinegar tip that someone mentioned above just incase, and I will try soap rather than shower gel.

fruityb · 15/02/2019 16:59

I use Mitchum and it’s amazing. I suffered years of sweat patches on t shirts - it was ridiculous. Now nothing - have used to religiously for ten years.

I wasn’t particularly smelly, just sweaty. But that might help.

whatsnewchoochoo · 15/02/2019 17:01

Dettol or similar soap. Sure intensive anti perspirant
