How to prevent smelly underarms 🤮

Makeupaddikt · 15/02/2019 16:41

Hi sorry to write about this horrible subject but well I have horrible smelly underarms, I shave frequently, and shower daily, use deodorant (no particular kind just whatever is on offer) and I still find my underarms are smelly.

Does anyone have any idea what I can do to get rid of this?

It may be worth having a quick scrub with some exfoliating scrub as well. If mine are really bad, I add some drops of tea tree oil into some body scrub, and have a gentle go ag my pist.
Otherwise yes to soap, drying properly, and not staying loyal to one brand.

fruityb which one did you use?

Sure deodorant! The only one that works for me. Every other brand still won't stop a whiff.

mrswx · 15/02/2019 17:23

I would also recommend Mitchum, roll on!

dementedpixie · 15/02/2019 17:24

I don't really rate Mitchum roll on especially as it seems to take about 30 minutes to dry

FourEyesGood · 15/02/2019 17:28

Another vote for using bar soap instead of shower gel. It’s made such a massive difference to me and my formerly stinky pits!

Ratatouille76 · 15/02/2019 17:29

Mitcham deodorant. It's super strong

Richlyfruited · 15/02/2019 17:32

I used to have this issue too but thanks to a previous MN thread it's completely sorted!

Using soap instead of shower gel and soaking the armpits of tops with white vinegar before washing works a treat.

I just use Bionsen spray deodorant now which works absolutely fine. No need for the heavy duty stuff!

Halo washing liquid on clothes

TacoFlavouredKisses · 15/02/2019 17:36

The Mitchum Ultimate deodorant (think it's similar to the £5 Sure one mentioned upthread) - complete gamechanger for me!

PigeonofDoom · 15/02/2019 17:41

Driclor. Hurts like hell but it’s amazing. No sweat for two weeks. It changed my life, I no longer have to chuck clothes after a years wear

MrsSchadenfreude · 15/02/2019 17:44

Wash your underarms with Hibiscrub. It will make a huge difference. Also wash your clothes in big box biological powder or Halo sports wash.

EggbertHeartsTina · 15/02/2019 17:45

YY to Driclor and it was mumsnet that taught me to apply talc to clean dry armpits before applying the driclor - really helps to control the itch / sting

Happygolucky009 · 15/02/2019 17:47

Mitcham Roll on is the only thing that works for me! The spray isn't as good!

bugaboo218 · 15/02/2019 17:48

Dettol bar soap, as it has anti bacterial properties. Or a tiny bit of well diluted Dettol original disenfectant really well diluted

And

Sure anti perspirant deodorant spray

With tops washed on a hot wash with a bio powder and no fabric conditioner.

With natural fibre tops changed daily

You will be fine.

My MIL is a clean freak and uses hibiscrub in the shower and for handwashing but I'm not sure where she gets it from. Personally I'd rather not smell like a hospital. Washing once with simple soap and then with shower gel straight after works for me.

teta · 15/02/2019 18:00

Ds2 stunk to high heaven until I discovered Perspirax. Also soap and a proper scrub with a flannel.

CherryBlossom23 · 15/02/2019 18:03

You don't need antiseptic soap, just use any regular soap and a flannel to wash your underarms. It cleans much better than showergel.

EjectorCrab · 15/02/2019 18:03

Hibiscrub is excellent for foot odour, not sure I’d be willing to try it on the sensitive underarm area though.

otterturk · 15/02/2019 18:05

Diet maybe? I find I only smell when I've eaten unhealthily for a couple of days

AnnaMagnani · 15/02/2019 18:05

Soap and flannel.

Mitchum antiperspirant.

Job done.

PrimalLass · 15/02/2019 18:05

Use proper biological washing powder.

fruityb · 15/02/2019 18:08

Mitchum roll on - I don’t like the spray and the stick dries out quickly. It has honestly made me one of those women on the adverts with her arms in the air!

Gatekeeper · 15/02/2019 18:09

I second Trust cream from Boots...brilliant stuff
