Opinions on these boots please?

These arrived today and I can’t decide - partly because they’re a bit higher than I would normally wear. I want some going out boots to wear with skinnies and a naice top or a short dress and opaques. What do you think?

I usually wear quite mum-ish and boring boots I think, so wanted to try something different - be as brutal as u like!

Boots

Nit sure about the buckle

WoahThereMama · 12/02/2019 17:22

I still think these are within the boring category OP Blush I really wouldn’t consider them as going out boots - to me they are inoffensive, perfectly fine, daytime boots.

Badtasteflump · 12/02/2019 17:27

Ha ha well that just shows I really don’t have a clue Grin... I thought they were really different and a bit wacky!

What kind of thing should I be looking for then? I want an ankle boot preferably in tan with a going out feel (which I clearly have no clue about!)... would be really grateful for any suggestions...

Boring and don’t like the buckle

Boodlesnuts · 12/02/2019 17:32

There are some nice leopard print ankle boots around at the moment.

Deeedeeee · 12/02/2019 17:33

Going out as in going to local pub, yes. But they don't say "out-out" to me, I think because they're quite chunky. They are higher than I'd manage for normal day to day, so that puts them into "slightly smarter" category for me... I like them, they'd be nice with jeans.

Surfingtheweb · 12/02/2019 17:34

Really nice & a great price too.

Penhaligon · 12/02/2019 17:37

I really like them 🤷🏼‍♀️

CottonSock · 12/02/2019 17:39

I like them too. I'm not very trendy really though

Bluntness100 · 12/02/2019 17:41

I'm also a bit surprised. When you say going out, do you mean out out or just leaving the house? I'd consider them a pair of fairly normal mumsy casual boots,

Not in tan, but here is what I'd consider a going out boot. But I mean going out out,

Ethel80 · 12/02/2019 17:50

Yeah they're not going out boots and are a bit mumsy, sorry!

WillowG · 12/02/2019 17:57

They’re not bad but I don’t like the way the front points up? I think black boots have more of that going out feel whereas tan is quite daytime.

Badtasteflump · 12/02/2019 18:02

Ha well for me ‘going out’ does usually mean going to a local pub, or slighter further afield for a curry Grin

I think they’re going back, anyway. Can going out boots not be tan then? I’m clearly very out of touch.

@bluntness your comment about leaving the house made me snort! And as much as those boots you linked really are lovely, I would totter about five feet then start swearing and probably fling them at the wall - sorry Blush. I am now realising just how old I’ve got.

Those Asos boots are gorgeous

Badtasteflump · 12/02/2019 18:05

Cross-posted with you willow. I wasn’t sure about the pointy up fronts either - it reminded me of Mary Poppins and I don’t know if that’s good or bad.

OP posts:
WillowG · 12/02/2019 18:09

Of course they can! Just for me black boots are more going out and I like my tan ones with jeans during the day. ASOS have a huge selection!

FormerlyFrikadela01 · 12/02/2019 18:09

I don't think tan is a very going out out colour. It has a casual vibe I think.

And as much as I quite like the boots you linked I agree they are a very safe daytime mumsy boot, I quite like them though, I've been after something like them.

Bluntness100 · 12/02/2019 18:31

Lol, ok, what about these then? These are wide fit, but something like this would work ie lower heel?

And I'd agree, go black, go more delicate. Not clumpy.

Margot, yup 😜

Wallabyone · 12/02/2019 18:35

I don't like them, I think the toe makes them look like they belong to an elf. I would go black or a more camel suede.

CocoLoco87 · 12/02/2019 18:43

Those going out out boots from asos are fab! I can't cope with heels these days but I do really like them.

Bluntness100 · 12/02/2019 18:44

it reminded me of Mary Poppins and I don’t know if that’s good or bad

Unless you're going to a job interview to be a nanny, fancy chimney sweeps, and a re prone to singing about a spoonful of sugar, it's never good 😆.

Bluelady · 12/02/2019 18:54

Sorry, OP, I suspect I'm a LOT older than you and I wouldn't be seen dead in them. The second Asos pair, on the other hand, are lovely.

Thistledew · 12/02/2019 18:55

Sorry, I think both those ASOS ones are really boring.

How about these from Shoe Embassy if you are after something with a little individuality that are going to be reasonable to walk in?

PaulHollywoodsleftbollockhair · 12/02/2019 19:12

Frump-a-delica.
