I’m getting all my hair lopped off on Saturday

Please convince me it’ll be great!
It’s currently just below my shoulders and I hate it, it’s really dry and taily at the end where there’s old bleach damage done, all I ever seem to do is throw it up as it takes soo long to wash, blow dry and straighten every day (has to be every day otherwise it’s a frizzy kinky mess) and I just want a fun but feminine style that will take less time to dry and straighten but I can still have fun with.
But. I have a big round moon face 🙀 will it suit? I’m thinking something like the pic that’s hopefully attached, I do have very high (slightly chubby) cheekbones and a heart shaped face and I reallllllly want it short but am so worried it won’t suit!
Opinions gratefully received 😊

I’ve had a similar hairstyle but with a totally different hair type - fine, soft, never coloured - and it was still high maintenance.

It may just be the damage that’s making yours difficult to manage but with short hair you can’t just tie it up! Do you have a regular hairdresser you go to?

GlitterPixie · 31/01/2019 20:43

I did the same and have never looked back!

ACoverIsNotTheBook · 31/01/2019 20:50

@takeachanseyonme I am very lucky my hairdresser is one of my best friends and will talk me through every step of the way as she knows what I’m like lol, I’m thinking with it longish at the front I can still pin it back in a backcombed quiff this thing and image had it shortish before but more an angled bob than anything this drastic, I think the damage is definitely swaying it but also I my hair at the top is in great condition, it’s fine-ish but I have a lot if it which looks a bit like the model? It’s not the styling I’m worried about as I already spend so much time on it now and it still looks crap! more that it really won’t suit my face and I’ll end up looking like Shelly from eastenders? Also my hair is a dark chocolate brown not that beautiful blonde on the model 😂

@glitterpixie so glad to hear that! But are you one of those elfin looking beauties who can pull off any style? Lol

Do it! I went from bra strap length to pixie cut (in one go) this time last year and I haven’t looked back.

I also have a round face, i was worried that it wouldn’t suit me but everyone commented that it looked great and that it did suit me.

If you always wear your hair up now (as I did) it WILL suit you as you will be able to properly frame your face and wear it in different styles according to your mood. Although mine is a pixie it’s slightly longer on top and I can wear it similarly to the pics you have posted or also like Jedward if I feel that way inclined 😂

WineNotTea · 31/01/2019 20:55

I am most certainly NOT an elfin!

ACoverIsNotTheBook · 31/01/2019 21:01

Yay so glad to hear that winenottea! I’m thinking I’m going to tan, have my eyebrows threaded and tinted and go heavier on the make up so it’ll not be such a shock as seeing it in my usual unkempt state 😂 I go to the gym a lot too and being able to jump in the shower without spending 45 minutes on it after I really feel will be life changing! I’m still a nervous wreck though 😂

It will be lovely , I had mine chopped last year with the lovely sienna as inspiration , short but with enough movement to play with it fir slightly different looks
So time saving

I’m not one for makeup everyday, I work from home 4 days a week so am lucky in that regard but I will admit to wearing more makeup when I first went short, to be honest that lasted about 3 weeks and now my normal ‘not going into the office’ consists of eyebrows (I have very thin, over plucked blonde brows) and mascara when I need to venture out in public, nothing more!
If I have time tomorrow I’ll post before and after shots.

WereYouHareWhenIWasFox · 31/01/2019 21:14

I did this last year, best thing ever. It looks young, fresh and edgy. It isn’t a lot of upkeep either, I went to a very good (eye-wateringly) expensive hairdresser and the style takes minimal upkeep and looks good for months!

WineNotTea · 31/01/2019 21:17

What I also love is that I only wash mine twice per week now, in between I just use a bit of hair putty to style it, most days I don’t even use a hairbrush 😂

Crusoe · 31/01/2019 21:22

Do it! I’ve been long and short so many times in my life and do you know what if you don’t like it or get bored with it after a while it will grow again!
Be brave, I’m sure you will love it.

HaveYouNamechangedForThis · 31/01/2019 21:22

It would cut most if not all the main damage out in one go - possibly managing the damage is taking up a lot of time in terms of making current hair look good? So then after a short cut, you'd only be really styling mostly good condition hair (which I think's a lot easier). Also you could easily grow it out to a short choppy bob in a few months if you don't like it.

You won't know until you try! And if you really trust your hairdresser then she'll take time to tailor the lengths to your face shape perfectly.

GlitterPixie · 31/01/2019 21:28

Haha @ACoverIsNotTheBook I’m definitely not actually pixie like at 5ft and 16 stone Blush I went for very similar style to the picture of Julianne Hough you showed it was one of the pictures I showed the hairdresser actually. I went even shorter this summer more like Katy Perry when she had it cropped it I’ve grown it back out a bit more like the original picture now but with an undercut because I’ve very thick hair. It’s so low maintenance but looks really nice I’d never grow it longer again

GlitterPixie · 31/01/2019 21:31

Here’s a picture outside the hairdresser after chopping about 9 inches off

Looks lovely

VWpurse · 31/01/2019 21:41

GlitterPixie You’re rocking that!

ShivD · 31/01/2019 21:50

I did the same almost a year ago, it’s brilliant. My hair was always just a bit crap long and now it always looks at least semi styled.

I kept a bit of length on the top so it can be glammed up if I need it to be.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 31/01/2019 22:41

I've gone from shoulder skimming bob to pixie (had a disaster layered cut in between)
I'm now growing it out.........it is a nightare to grow out a pixie , you get through the "Aargh" stage where you want to run back to your hairdresser and scream "Cut it off, cut it OFF ! "

Why not try taking off the ends , have it sitting on your shoulders. You'll till be able to tie it back but it'll be easier to manage . You can have more cut if you want later .

I'm going back to the bob as soon as I can.
Thise people who say "It's hair , if you don't like it , it'll grow back" . If I could hide from the world for a year, I would !

DontCallMeCharlotte · 01/02/2019 11:25

I normally have a similar cut and also have a round face. It looks great, is easy to manage and takes years off.

CountFosco · 01/02/2019 13:04

Love my pixie. Do it, it is so liberating. I swim every morning then it just needs a quick towel dry and quick finger through to get it into shape. I use no product and only blowdry it if it's cold outside.

Jacksback · 01/02/2019 16:41

Love it

ShakeYourTailFeathers · 01/02/2019 16:48

Do it!

You might have to still wash it every day (I look like Worzel Gummidge when I wake up) but it takes no time to dry and style it.

Annasgirl · 01/02/2019 19:17

oh. it looks fab on you well done.

PaulHollywoodsleftbollockhair · 01/02/2019 20:04

Go for a pixie with more height on top and less volume at the sides if you want to slim your features.

Pixies are the best! 🙂
