It's my friends 30th and we are going to york which is about a hour away for the day end of feb.
We are going around lunch time till 9pm
Has anyone been?
What do you wear?
I'm thinking a white cami with skinny jeans, ankle boots and a jacket (a dressy one as it's going to be freezing )
Is that too under dressed tho?
Can anyone advise

A coat as the pubs are far apart as I remember!!

lucyhar · 30/01/2019 19:09

I was worried everyone would be in fancy dresses or mini skirts and I rock up in jeans

Not heels as the cobbles are beautiful to look at - but epic to cope with in heels !!

Jamhandprints · 30/01/2019 19:11

York is quite dressy stylish. And coats are allowed! :-)

PinkysEars · 30/01/2019 19:11

Also came to say "a coat"! We have cold winds and it can be mithering - not convinced you'll be warm enough in a cami.

Flat shoes/boots (cobbles).

I'd add an extra layer (at least).

Jamhandprints · 30/01/2019 19:13

But I've no idea what stylish means in terms of clothes these days. I used to live in York but now live somewhere a lot less classy.

Aprilshowersarecomingsoon · 30/01/2019 19:14

Unless you are a fellow Geordie who obviously won't need a coat!!

In my day we didn’t dress up for a pub crawl. But times change. It will be cold, so wrap up warm.

mummmy2017 · 30/01/2019 19:15

Big jumper and big bag...
So you can off load if too hot...
Flats in your bag, for when your feet hurt, and socks....

TulipsInbloom1 · 30/01/2019 19:16

I'm a Geordie and I would deffo be in a coat!

Tetrapanex · 30/01/2019 19:16

Your outfit sounds perfect but would probably wear a nice coat or leather jacket with a big stylish scarf. It gets cold there!

And as PP's have said high heels and the cobbled streets don't mix.

It's not the fashion capital of Yorkshire so I wouldn't worry too much. The going out crowd is a mix of locals, uni students and hen and stag parties from places like Newcastle.

legolimb · 30/01/2019 19:37

Anything goes. Especially if you are starting out in the daytime.

I say keep it smart casual, but comfortable. Good shoes for the walking and a coat. I am always cold in York - even in summer.

Enjoy!

Weezol · 30/01/2019 19:39

Whatever you're comfortable in. It's not Leeds!

lucyhar · 30/01/2019 20:00

I am from Newcastle actually ha ha

I'm assuming end of feb is still going to be freezing and knowing my luck snowing.

I would wear something like this.

What to wear for a day pub crawl in york?
hugoagogo · 30/01/2019 20:10

Jumper, jeans, boots, coat.
Don't fall flat on your face.Grin

lucyhar · 30/01/2019 20:13

@TulipsInbloom1 that's lovely
Not sure I could pull off a sophisticated outfit like that tho.

Hahahaha at the idea that you need to be dressy to do an afternoon pub crawl in York. I don’t live there, but friends do. It is as trashy as anything on Saturday afternoons. Wear a stab vest.

Aprilshowersarecomingsoon · 30/01/2019 20:17

No coat.
Stay true to your roots!

PUGaLUGS · 30/01/2019 20:17

Wear what you feel comfortable in.

PUGaLUGS · 30/01/2019 20:19

@Nettletheelf

Your post made me chuckle. S’true though 😂

BuzzLightyearsHoneyBun · 30/01/2019 20:20

I wear a midi dress, ankle boots with heel - but a nice thick and solid heel and a midi length smart coat.
There are all types of outfits there- from girls shivering in tiny outfits to just a casual jumper and jeans.
Enjoy, it is a fun day out, but avoid the last train to Middlesbrough as it is hell on earth. (I come from Middlesbrough way and that last train is not a good advertisement for Teessiders)

Awks · 30/01/2019 20:30

We call the late weekend trains home from york the vomit comets 💫

lucyhar · 30/01/2019 20:31

@Nettletheelf really? Ah no way
I haven't been since I was a kid and assumed it was lovely.
