Are these mum boots?

And does it mean they're uncool?

What's the cool boot style nowadays?

Need it for work and general merriment.

They do NOT look like they cost £400. I thought they looked cheap, tbh.

But no, they're not mum boots. I think they're horrible, though - but then, I'm old.

fancynancyclancy · 23/01/2019 21:28

I would class these as mum boots. I don’t think mum boots have to be the same but more a watered down version of a fashionable style eg, the soles not thick enough, buckles too timid.

Teacher boots. Church going, soup for lunch teacher.

sizzledrizz · 23/01/2019 22:22

I like them, I'd wear them.

Beamur · 23/01/2019 22:25

I wouldn't wear them.

I don’t think anyone really knows what mum boots are like. You might as well ask what the Bogey Man looks like. They’re just words meant to scare us.

I’m not keen but then I don’t really like heels of any description.

kittyhello · 23/01/2019 23:09

Just to clarify I have the original Pistols and not the updated version, I didn't see that extra wedge when I initially clicked.

Someone upthread asked if they were comfortable and I can confirm that they are.

Angelicwings · 24/01/2019 00:01

The heel is Ok but the platform front sole is too quirky/casual for office and makes them look a little like welly boots with heels (sorry) from an aesthetic point. I would look for similar heel and shape etc but not with that platform sole.

The styling details are nice (finish, zip etc) for a casual look.

Hate the first pair, second pair are better, both pairs remind me of the fashion for cowboy boots back in the early noughties!

BitOutOfPractice · 24/01/2019 07:28

That's a lot of money for a boot you're not sure about

Nenuco · 24/01/2019 08:04

I actually like the second pair more because of the lower heel.

Shall we not use 'Mum' as an insult please?

This.

LadyOfTheCanyon · 24/01/2019 08:36

The tabs on the front and back are going to flick against the hems of anything you wear. ( voice of bitter experience).

I'm not saying that you don't look like the model in the photo OP, but I find that these ' so casual, so thrown together' looks can be absolute bastards to pull off. Boots like these can't just be worn with jeans, to get the wear out of them you're going to be rocking 'a look' every time you put them in, otherwise yeah, they're going to look orthopaedic.

I agree totally that it's a lot of money to spend on something you're clearly not sure about.

Nenuco · 24/01/2019 08:58

Ok, so question again - I actually thought the last pair is kind of basic / can-go-with-anything boots.

If not, what is considered a can-go-with-anything pair of boots?

OP posts:
TeeBee · 24/01/2019 09:09

They're just horrible boots.

TeeBee · 24/01/2019 09:11

Second pair marginally better.

Nenuco · 25/01/2019 00:31

Thanks!

I checked Whistles and I saw some boots there that look like the second one. Also ASOS.
