I do love a great charity shop - there are some fabulous ones near where I live
Just bought a jaeger dress, planet dress and max studio dress plus a shirt for DS total £13
Same shop a few weeks before Xmas got some jimmy choo sandals and a jaeger cashmere coat for £20 total

I'm having a lean spell at the moment but someone, somewhere has bagged a beautiful cashmere coat with a Parisian label. I walked away from it on Friday (too big, I'm not supposed to be spending and I've got about 20 wool coats) but today I cracked and went back for it. Too late.

Floisme · 21/01/2019 18:29

Sorry posted too soon. In case that wasn't clear, I meant: Too late, it had gone. Sad

Which is a lesson for us all.

TheGirlWithGlassFeet · 21/01/2019 18:30

I never find anything decent and end up coming home with a musty paperback.

Christmasfairy07 · 21/01/2019 18:34

I LOVE charity shops! Have to hold myself back though as my wardrobe is already overflowing. There is a Hospice shop with a huge warehouse at the back & they have rails & rails of clothing at £1 an item. I’ve had some really good stuff. One of my best buys was from another Hospice shop - a full length backless midnight blue velvet gown covered in sparkles for £5. Fits me perfectly.

They do feel a bit quiet for this time of year. Why isn't everyone having a January clear-out? Haven't they heard of Marie Kondo? Angry

Bluesheep8 · 21/01/2019 19:14

Recent lucky finds (none are designed though) Clarks distressed brown leather fur lined biker boots £7, a gap denim dress £5, a fat face shirt dress £3...I buy most of my clothes from charity shops and regularly get compliments.

SallyCinnamon3009 · 21/01/2019 19:16

Box of duplo and a leapfrog house. The house was £3 and was on sale in boots this christmas for £24

Redandblue11 · 21/01/2019 19:19

My most precious possession is an amazing Sonia Rykiel jumper that i got last year in near perfect condition for under £20. Very unusual, yet wearable, i always get compliments.
Also a Diane Von Fus.. dress pristine for under £20
I bought both in a dress agency
Jace where are those charity shops??

archaeoptyrx · 21/01/2019 20:32

Love a walk round the charity shops on a Saturday. This week’s purchases were an oversized Hush jumper (a bit pricey at £8 but pristine), a Seasalt jumper (£4), Me and Em jeans (£4), a Barbour jumper (£4) and a Joules vest top (£1).

Floisme · 21/01/2019 20:38

That’s a good haul. EnvyI think everyone must be shopping their wardrobes round these parts. I blame Brexit.

JaceLancs · 21/01/2019 20:52

Penwortham near Preston
However due to my job I travel all over the county and stop in various charity shops if I’m near anywhere around breaks or lunch
My favourite are BHF as they split up the clothes by category not colour

I’m near you OP. What shops are these?? Message me if it’s a secret! I never find anything good

Moominfan · 21/01/2019 21:35

I'm in north west op. Love Kirkham for charity shops and Preston

Polkapjs · 21/01/2019 21:37

Wondered if she’d say Southport though people tell me there’s a more top end shop in Penwortham somewhere?

beela · 21/01/2019 21:37

This week, all for the dc:
3 dvds
1 fairy umbrella
1 shark game
1 domino rally game
1 whoopee cushion

... All for under a tenner altogether.

My best bargains last year were a couple of immaculate mini boden coats for dd for £4 each.

ABigBraclet · 21/01/2019 21:40

Any good shops in West Midlands area?

PassTheGinPlease · 21/01/2019 21:41

Not for me but DD needed a nice dress as it's DHs 50th soon and she lives in hoodies and leggings usually.
Got her a satin Oasis dress, brand new, it's a dark purple peplum. £2.50! It was hard work getting her to agree to a dress, she plans on wearing it with biker boots, opaque tights and her biker jacket with a messy bun. She's 12 so it doesn't cling or expose anything. At that price she can launch it to the very depths of her wardrobe afterwards.

WingingWonder · 21/01/2019 21:45

It’s literally primark tat here for same as original pricing- we’re in a naice area, but I’m
Not unconvinced the ladies what lunch and teens who volunteer there for d of e don’t skim the many bags of premium stuff I know they do get and resell on eBay...

FutureMrsTempah · 21/01/2019 21:51

A princess dress (amazing condition but missing accessories) £4, toddler has been flouncing round the house in it at every opportunity!
A while ago I got a wonderfully cut LK Bennett dress for £6
Most of my work wardrobe seems to be charity shop bits and I'm always getting compliments!
I do send lots back the other way too

JosephineHass · 21/01/2019 22:04

This week for my dc:

  • this super gorgeous fabric doll house with furniture for £5!

Think my best bargain was an immaculate set of Glencairn crystal Rennie Mackintosh whisky tumblers, in their presentation case. I paid £15 and when I looked them up later I think they were worth around £150, even now there are some on eBay for around £100.

EunikeLavender · 21/01/2019 22:23

Oops thought we were in chat. Still my best bargain. Have never been so lucky with clothing as anything I see in my size is old fashioned and not in a cool vintage way. Grin

cavycavy · 21/01/2019 22:28

The charity shops in my nearest town often have naice clothes on from decent shops (nothing high fashion, but eBay sellable brands like Joules) and I’m always amazed people don’t try selling them. Some brands sell on eBay no matter how old the item provided it’s still in a wearable state.

I often spot something and feel like buying it and then selling it on eBay but I can’t decide if that’s morally ok or not.

Butterfly84 · 21/01/2019 22:42

I only ever find books...

WineNotTea · 21/01/2019 22:46

No charity shop bargains here but hopefully I’ll be able to help someone on their way to a bargain soon. I have 4 bags ready to go and 75% are things that still have their tags on.... they range from M&S jeggings to Jaeger suits. Yes, I know that I could sell them on eBay but I really can’t be bothered, sorry if that makes me sound like the slattern that I am!
