Ohhhh. Op, you are right near me. (Makes plans to visit Penwortham charity shops)

I went to Lostock Hall and Leyland charity shops on Friday with a friend, and got a gorgeous M&s black mac for £3 and a Zara dress for £2.50. Amongst other things.

Sassandfaff1 · 21/01/2019 23:52

I think my best ever bargain was a boys pair of fat face combats for 10p. Or 2 debenhams school pinfore dresses for 49p or a boys pair of Armani jeans for £1.75. But....i did get a free accessorize handbag on friday, because they were throwing out all the handbags in their bargain bin, due to being unable to sell them. I had yo rummage through some right tat to find it. I noticed straight away it was better quality, and when i opened it, it had their name in it. Happy me.

Two unworn cardigans from a French brand that retail at £180 each for £7.99 each.

BertBox · 22/01/2019 09:25

A full size Malin & Goetz candle for £4 this weekend. Everything else in the shop was VERY well researched - they wanted £69 for a scarf!

JaceLancs · 22/01/2019 09:27

I never find much in southport although there is a new hospice shop near M & S which looks quite promising I bought a jaeger cashmere cardigan there a few weeks ago but it was £10

I got a royal blue cashmere jumper yesterday for £4.50, a Uniqlo cotton spotted cardi for £4 and a faux fur Topshop coat for £6. And an absolutely stunning Ted Baker coat the other week for £15, I've seen the same one sell on ebay for £70. And some really nice White Company trousers for a fiver. I've had some lovely stuff in January.

I'm currently stalking for a new leather biker jacket as mine is too big.

drspouse · 22/01/2019 10:52

I'm in the NW as well and must check out the Preston/Kirkham shops some time!
Any that are particularly good for primary aged children's clothes? I tend to find that people mainly buy Next at best and sell loads of frilly baby stuff on FB but don't seem to donate anything that's not Primark with loads of stains and frankly tiny and shrunk to our local charity shops.

PaulHollywoodsleftbollockhair · 22/01/2019 11:41

TOAST long jersey dress with button back for £7- currently on their website for £100.

Masai clothing company jersey striped dress £5

MacarenaFerreiro · 22/01/2019 11:43

Have mentioned on these threads before but my best bargain ever was a never worn 100% wool Hobbs winter smart coat for £15. It's the loveliest, smartest coat I've ever owned.

Another great deal was a pair of Doc Marten chelsea boots for £10. Also brand new and so comfy and sturdy.

I find quite a few children's clothes in charity shops, but sometimes the best deals are to be had on the children's bundles of clothes on eBay.

Beebumble2 · 22/01/2019 12:51

Silk Phase Eight dress, still with hanging label for £1.99. I’ve worn it to two weddings with the £7 (£250) unworn shoes.
I like small independent charity shops, they seem to want turnover rather than huge profit. Local people also seem keen to donate and therefore seem to give better stuff.
I always donate to the local independent charity shops.

I was looking to buy a pair of Toms. My favourite colour was olive. The price was out of my range. I happened to walk by a charity shop and there, on the window were a pair of olive Toms. My size. For £3. Best day ever.

HelloDarlin · 22/01/2019 13:02

I live in the city near some really good charity shops. They get the more premium stock & brand new ex-season from M&S, TK Maxx, Debs, large department stores. Most of my clothes are tags-on charity shop finds.
I regret walking away from an Oasis full-length black cashmere coat (always look out for Oasis/Warehouse/French Connection/Monsoon from 10 plus years ago. Even Topshop. All of them are rubbish nowadays).
And a black Moschino dress for a tender... What was I thinking?

HelloDarlin · 22/01/2019 13:03

Bee, I always donate good stuff too, to keep the circle going!

HelloDarlin · 22/01/2019 13:04

Tenner, obvs...

Notquiteagandt · 22/01/2019 13:29

A charity shop by where I used to live sold samples from lots of brands. So all brand new.

Nabbed a lamnskin coat brand new for 5a that had ink line on it from a biro. Took it cleaners and for £20 they got it out. Coat must be about 800quid plus new.

Traid charity shops do the best clearnace every few weeks everything £2 got cashmere jumpers, alexander mcqueen trousers, prada dress, whistels workwear, pieces for £2 each!!!

goose1964 · 22/01/2019 13:54

Unfortunately the local shops are aware of brand names. Saying that there was a pair of Karen Millen jeans for £7.50 and a seasalt knitted dress /cardigan for £7.99 in one shop, but we were looking for a blue top

ToEarlyForDecorations · 22/01/2019 14:08

A jewellery box, brand new, white outside, turquoise inside. It's an American brand and would be twenty quid new. I got it for £4, that was half of the £8 it was priced up for but the cashier said it was priced wrong !

I got a dinner and tea service for £15, 'Harvest' by St Michael that's old style Marks and Spencer. I suspect it was someone's, 'keep for best' as it was in perfect condition. I gave the tea set back, as lovely as it was I just didn't need it . I'm not that civilised ! (I looked it up on E-bay and could have made money from selling the tea set but I just can't be bothered !)

DandilionBreak · 22/01/2019 14:25

A midnight blue velvet swing coat (no label) when I was a student many years ago. I bought it for £2, it was in perfect condition and I wore it and wore it. I had a clear out after I hadn't worn it for a year or two, gave it back to charity and I've regretted it every day since. It was gorgeous.

drspouse · 22/01/2019 15:30

When I was younger and skinnier, I had a pair of original Land Girl cord jodhpurs from a charity shop. Very sad to see them go...

mywigwamneedsnewflaps · 22/01/2019 15:49

Got a good as new copy of one of my favourite cookery authors books yesterday for £1.50 , looked at reviews on amazon and it's £35

sugarbum · 22/01/2019 15:52

I never find clothes bargains.

I did get a lovely set of pearlescent M&S teacups and saucers from Mencap this week. For a fiver. I have no use for teacups. BUT THEYRE SO PRETTY.

Marie Kondo would not approve.

Maybe not to everyones taste, but I also got a Dupenny mug and plate for 2 quid from Wood Green Charity shop.

Oh I would have been tempted by those too sugarbum. Not that we have space with the 2 or 3 sets we already inherited.

You reminded me though that I got 3 little Wade pin dishes recently. £1.75 for the three.

XingMing · 22/01/2019 16:34

Glad IronFloor found the dream olive green Toms. They could have been mine, if they were glazed linen. They cut into my heel. HTH!

DoodleLab · 22/01/2019 16:54
