Stud earrings for every day

AnotheChinHair · 20/01/2019 07:45

Morning all. I stopped wearing earrings many years ago because I felt they aged me. At the time I used to wear scarfs so perhaps both combined didn't work for me. I don't wear scarfs as much so I'd like to try with earrings again.

I think stud earrings will be best for me and I was wondering what brands should I be looking for. I'd like something classic, pretty, not blingy, don't really mind if it's silver or gold but if it helps, my colouring is medium cool pale and I dress in black a lot; Ideally, I would like a pair that I can forget about, i.e. sleep in and shower with, otherwise I lose them Grin.

Ideas, suggestions and recommendations, step this way please!

I wear small Diamond white gold studs . I don't think they are blimgy

happytobemrsg · 20/01/2019 07:56

I agree, small diamond studs go with everything. I prefer them when they are bezel-set like T&co Diamonds by the yard

IPromiseIWontBeNaughty · 20/01/2019 07:59

I agre Diamond studs. All the money I spent wasted looking for the perfect earring to go with different outfits. I wear my studs with everything. I got my second hand.

Mominatrix · 20/01/2019 07:59

I third diamond studs. lightweight, go with everything, subtle, classic.

Dimsumlosesum · 20/01/2019 08:02

I personally love my little sapphire studs I was given. They're petite enough I can sleep with them in, but catch and sparkle in the light beautifully. I think my mum got them from a jeweller on etsy.

Thank you ladies, any chance of some links please?

My default are my diamond studs, but I kept losing one here and there (taking top off, one would fall out without me knowing etc). After several house insurance claims for them, I had my last pair adapted so they have screw backs instead of normal butterfly backs, now they'll never fall out again 😀

anniehm · 20/01/2019 08:12

I wear tiny hoops and leave in 24/7 studs I find are uncomfortable. Mine are from h Samuel, as are my diamond studs for special occasions

hendricksy · 20/01/2019 08:22

My husband got mine in America , there they do screw backs so you can never lose them . I don't think it's a thing here yet .

AnotheChinHair · 20/01/2019 08:24

carrie74 those are so pretty. I think I'll keep my budget low to begin with in case this doesn't work for me though, so budget of up to £50 I reckon Smile.

Also, look what I found, looks really useful!

Dimsumlosesum · 20/01/2019 08:55

etsy.me/2W5vqY4 Sorry, that seems to work better.

Alwayscheerful · 20/01/2019 09:45

I like bezel set diamond studs, I need to buy them in bulk because I am always loosing them. Like the idea of secure backs.

hugoagogo · 20/01/2019 10:02

Since you are not used to wearing them I would go for these little hoops They are so easy to wear and comfy to sleep in. Then look in accessorize for something that appeals for days you want to make more effort or just have a change.

AnotheChinHair · 20/01/2019 10:25

That's actually a good idea hugo, and those are pretty.

What do you all think of these?

I love them. Stylish.

princessTiasmum · 20/01/2019 10:43

I have studs in my birthstone, bought from Argos about 15 years ag, sleep in them, and only take them out for cleaning every so often

sazzle27 · 20/01/2019 11:01

I wear a set of studs that are predominantly marketed to ear piercings other than the lobes, but they work perfectly for me.
They're simple studs that keep the holes open so I can wear more fancy ones for nights out etc, and they have a flat back - the bit at the front screws on!
I went for simple and plain, but you can get diamante ones and more fancy ones, different colours etc...
Not hugely expensive and comfortable to wear - no issues when I sleep and they dont catch on anything either - i can happily wear scarves with them!
Something along these lines - www.jobananas.com/internally-threaded-body-jewellery/?keep_https=yes

Apologies for the poor photos - it's hard to photograph an earring yourself!

AnotheChinHair · 22/01/2019 07:03

Thank you sazzle27. This might be the best option for me at the moment as I haven't worn earrings for so long. How do I know what length shaft I need?

OP posts:
linetta1 · 22/01/2019 13:16

I like stud earrings from qvc, their diamonique range, in particular. Comes in silver and gold, very reasonably priced, and 30 days money back guarantee

sazzle27 · 22/01/2019 22:45

I think I ended up buying a couple of different sizes as i wasn't sure!
Have a look at the length of earring shaft you already wear, allowing for the spare at the end normally have below the butterfly..

(If you order different styles in the different length, its easier to work out which fits too!)

And chances are you'll only really wear the one and bot take them out often 👍🏻👍🏻
