Stud earrings for every day

Morning all. I stopped wearing earrings many years ago because I felt they aged me. At the time I used to wear scarfs so perhaps both combined didn't work for me. I don't wear scarfs as much so I'd like to try with earrings again.

I think stud earrings will be best for me and I was wondering what brands should I be looking for. I'd like something classic, pretty, not blingy, don't really mind if it's silver or gold but if it helps, my colouring is medium cool pale and I dress in black a lot; Ideally, I would like a pair that I can forget about, i.e. sleep in and shower with, otherwise I lose them Grin.

Ideas, suggestions and recommendations, step this way please!

99% of my jewellery is QVC (partly because of the returns policy , partly because I like to watch the presentations - yes they drivel on but hey , I can mute them Grin )

I've been really annoyed with Argos and Claires ( I did get my money refunded but only after a major stand-off ) . Argos pair lost a stone after a single wear , Claires ones had a rough post that made my ear bleed.
Accessorise are really flimsy,

I'm wearing a pair of princess cut Sterling silver Diamonique studs at the moment , really nice, I wear them day./night .

I have a pair of amythest screw backs DS bought them for me) really nice but fiddly . I would definately go for screw backs if I bought diamonds though.

I have some from H Samuel like this :

www.hsamuel.co.uk/webstore/d/9005005/silver+%26+cubic+zirconia+4mm+square+stud+earrings/

Bought them about 5 years ago thinking "ah well, if I break/ lose them they're easy to replace" but actually I still have them and wear them most days. They're simple and sparkly and make me feel a bit "polished" without having to do anything else.

Does anyone have any diamond studs (real or not) that don't stick out a mile from their ear? I have a pair (not real) from Heavenly Necklaces that are lovely, but I rarely wear them because they just look huge on my ears.

What sort of setting do I need to be looking for to avoid that, does anyone know?

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 25/01/2019 10:23

Schoeny a bezel set might be what you're looking for (rather than the claw set)
Not as much light gets in to refract but with earrings I don't think that's an issue so much.

Or a pave set style? A disc or knot style?

Thank you 70isa - bezel set is probably what I'm after.

Not on the high street website has some nice ones, I got a star and moon set and a pair of heart shaped studs

I only ever wear studs, anything dangly looks a bit much on me.
Depending on budget have a look at Pandora, Thomas Sabo and Monica Vinada.
The last pair I bought from H samuels were white gold but came with a silicon back rather than a butterfly clip, they told me they were moving onto these as they were better (and cheaper I expect!) I felt a bit ripped off but they do actually grip the earring well and feel more secure. You can buy packs of them dirt cheap.

thanks to this thread I seem to be spending too much time gazing at 6/7mm diamond studs or should I say CZ claw set studs. I am always loosing earrings can anyone link me to a pair in the Uk with the screw backs, they seem to be more of an American thing.

I Love the QVC diamonique earrings that were mentioned earlier but they seem to have butterfly backs.

Try Azendi

Alwayscheerful · 25/01/2019 21:11

@justthecat thank you ,some lovely diamond snowflake earrings but no screw backs.
