Just noticed you were quoted in the Mumsnet Swears by @never Smile
Extolling the virtues of the Hush star appliqué shirt.

neveradullmoment99 · 26/01/2019 19:04

Ah the fame of it🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Well my ds and his wife and baby all away now and now i have a fabulous flu bug. High temp and loaded with cold, aches and pains. Not helped by the pile of work i have to do for Monday. Thinking maybe not to go in, especially if i feel this way.
Anyway @ laska, it will be a change having your dh with you all the time. I'm sure you will adjust. My dh moans about my parcels. I was so glad my toast one came when he was out. The blue jumper is lovely but not sure i can afford to keep that and the hush stripey one. @Ella, i dont have the 3d jumper but have been tempted.

dontcallmelen · 26/01/2019 19:11

Never oh nooooo hope you feel better soon doe yourself up & keep warm, aww you will miss dgs & all the cuddles when will you see them again?
Laska I would love a big shed, I would fill it with old furniture & do it up.

I’m really nervous about us retiring this year. When I took early retirement (forced really) in 2012, I hated it. Lasted about 6 weeks. The day I caught myself making an excel spreadsheet for cleaning was the day I decided I needed to get back to work. All our money goes into one pot but of course consultancy is either feast or famine, (and long lead times for payment), whereas DH has the regular salary. I’m going to give retirement another go in the summer when he retires, but I really am very nervous. And not sure what either of us will do all day. It sounds very sad, but my hobby is work really. Have always loved it

Cherries I know exactly what you mean, I didn’t have many interests outside of work & have found it very difficult at times, I was hoovering the bathroom walls a few weeks ago & just thought WHY is this what my life has become, but one bonus has been the bond I have with dgd which probably wouldn’t have happened, as I was at work pretty much seven days a week on call at night.
I must admit I do envy these couples who do loads of stuff & have a whirl of a social life, neither me or Dh are interested in golf, Bridge, bowls etc we do like travelling but dunno what else we are going to do.

Laska2Meryls · 26/01/2019 20:06

We have a campervan /motorhome plan..I have been savnig for years for it and have the ££££££ now ( as long as effin Brexit doesnt F it up.. )

Laska2Meryls · 26/01/2019 20:09

Dinner was lush.. Sat night catch -up TV now with DH (it has to be done) looking forward toposting my parcel finds tomorrow.. (btw i challenged him and he said he didn't mean to be critical.. [hmm ]( well he knows now not to be )

Laska2Meryls · 26/01/2019 20:12

Excel spreadsheet for cleaning Grin I sure hope that is not what I am going to do -although i did clean out and rearrange the kitchen cupboards this afternoon!

ilovecherries · 26/01/2019 20:17

That’s it, the thought of golf, bowls, bridge, WI, etc makes my skin crawl. I already do about 6 hours of vol work (adult literacy teaching), and I enjoy it, but don’t want to do more of it just to fill time. Travelling was always our dream (and we already have the camper!), but somehow I never really considered that I would end up the only child of very old parents. Mum and dad would hate to think I was limiting myself because of them, and I know I can’t make up for the missing two siblings, but I know mum already finds it hard since we moved here - and I go to see them every month. At the moment they are both fit and well, but you know that sits on a sixpence by their age and I WANT to be there for them. My DH is very good with them as well - he is really kind to them.

excel spreadsheet. I know! All those cleaning tasks I happily ignored while working suddenly went on sodding rota. My DH thought I was deranged. Wash skirting boards, scrub tops of kitchen cupboards, scrub window frames, change curtains (yes curtains) regularly, etc etc. He bought me a MacBook to get me out the door again!

My grout has never been as clean, before or since!

I'm in exactly the same position @ilovecherries
I am one of 3 but lost both my DSis and Dbro when they were in their early forties. I went from being the youngest of 3 (by 8yrs and a 6 six year age gap) to being an only child. It's a very complex thing to be catapulted into for all different kinds of reasons it's it? Thanks

ilovecherries · 26/01/2019 20:37

Yes, you are completely right, gin. There is all the practical stuff, plus the emotional stuff from survivors guilt to realising that no matter what you don’t, it can’t ever be enough. Plus the responsibility to actually just stay alive and not give them any more grief. That’s one of the reasons I’m so afraid of this breast reduction surgery. My mum is convinced every day that I have died if she doesn’t hear from me. I DH calls it my ‘proof of life’ text every evening. I think he is joking...hmm.

GinandGingerBeer · 26/01/2019 23:37

So true cherries, I had the dilemma the other day on my dsis anniversary of not knowing if my mum would remember the date as she has dementia. Didn't want to upset her unnecessarily but knew she would expect me to call if she had remembered. Aggghh! The responsibility of it all through the years takes its toll, but how can I moan about being 'The one' still alive.
I fantasise about getting on a plane sometimes and not telling anyone Smile

Laska2Meryls · 27/01/2019 09:00

So sad cherries and gin.. with my DM now recently gone I am calling/seeing my DF more , but he does at least have my younger DB living with him and is still active and able to drive....also he is 7yrs younger than my mum was so still in his 80s and in good health luckily .

Hush news! The SS new collection is on PR shots now Grin I def think those star denim shorts will be minne...

Ellapaella · 27/01/2019 09:48

Ooh Laska thanks! I too will be coveting those shorts! In fact lots of lovely bright colours there for the spring.

neveradullmoment99 · 27/01/2019 10:12

Thats great @laska. Id given up looking. Thought they might have stopped the PR shots. Love those shorts.

dontcallmelen · 27/01/2019 10:32

Gin I am truly sorry to hear that you also have suffered the same losses as cherries life can be so incredibly cruel at times.

Huffthepuff · 27/01/2019 10:45

Hello all, sorry for the radio silence. Getting back to full time work/gastric bug/DS's first birthday all got on top of me. Have just spent an hour reading through the last week of the thread.

Some exciting purchases from you lovely ladies! Look forward to hearing how your eBay leather trousers work out Laska.

Ella so sorry to hear about your health. Hope the next few weeks of tests bring positive news and hopefully the fact that you've gone so long without symptoms means that you are in otherwise excellent health. Love the Levi's and DMs!

Never hope you feel better soon. I hope you keep the other Toast jumper. Their stuff really is so lovely.

I've been buying less stuff since being back at work as I've been busier and less time trawling the sales on my phone whilst feeding ds. However I gave in yesterday and bought a woollen skirt and jumper from the Toast final reductions yesterday. Very naughty (although good reductions) and that's my clothes spending money for February gone so that's it until the end of next month now.
Have been wearing my Toast navy coatigan loads so that feels like it was a good purchase. It goes with everything in my wardrobe.

Not inspired by anything in the Hush spring collection so far but will check out the PR shots you've just linked to Laska. With it being so cold I'm not listing after any spring/summer clothes just yet.

Huffthepuff · 27/01/2019 10:52

Ooh there's some lovely stuff in the pr shots! Yy to the star print shorts. Also the denim skirt and a couple of lovely dresses which I'll be tempted to try

wearenotacodfish · 27/01/2019 11:55

Thanks for the link, I'm loving the colours of the new stuff. Definitely going to be harder to resist than the last lot.

GinandGingerBeer · 27/01/2019 12:47

Thanks for the kinds words @laska and @len.
Few interesting things on the link laska, all looks fairly casual which is a good thing! Some of the accessories look promising too Smile

Talisin · 27/01/2019 13:51

Thanks for the PR Shots heads up, Laska. Will almost certainly get the denim mini as I got the black one in the sale last year and love it. Some nice looking things but nothing says wowza to me right now.

neveradullmoment99 · 27/01/2019 15:05

There is an awful lot of repetition in the collection. Laska, your star shirt is there and quite a few other things. I wonder if it is mixed with previous seasons. If not, there are an awful lot of things from last summer season. Apart from the star shorts [ And I can't get excited about them at this time of the year] There isn't much that comes out at me.

neveradullmoment99 · 27/01/2019 15:06

Of course, it might be different when they are modelled!
