@Laska @Cherries, You both look FAB in the leggings and I wish I lived in the type of climate that would justify a pair - I honestly do! @Cherries - You're living up to your name in that lovely jumper! And the pre-birthday malaise is truly a thing. You look absolutely glowing and ever so much younger than most people "Down Under" - our climate does not do our complexion any favours (goes off to buy more hats and looks like a mushroom). Your style is totally ageless anyway.

@Ella - I'm sorry to hear of your health issues. I am glad you have a plan. Must have been a massive shock! I wonder if it's twice the hit when you're involved in the same field from the other side of the fence... I'm 46 and have just started studying nursing. (Literally first day yesterday.). Have decided to have a grownup job after being an opera singer and traipsing around the world, and then following husband's job as an expat (one of us had to take the cut when we had kids, and his job had the regular income.). I'm a bit terrified, tbh!

trader21c · 23/01/2019 06:35

Hey has anyone tried the Bronte coat? There are lots of warnings it’s huuuge but how big? I am usually a medium in Hush (often 14 elsewhere) will it drown me if I buy the 12? And is it nice on? Thanks x 🧥

ilovecherries · 23/01/2019 08:43

Oh, well done for going for it, lou, I hope you love it. I was a public health nurse practitioner for many years, it’s a great job.

@justilou1 good luck with your training - I'm
Sure you'll enjoy it, no matter how stressful it may feel at times it really is such a wonderful career, I have never regretted doing my training and can honestly say I love going to work.

Ellapaella · 23/01/2019 11:15

And my Mum was like you and did her training a bit later on - she was 53 when she qualified, she started her training shortly after I started. She'd been a teacher, a journalist and a full time mum in her previous life!

Ellapaella · 23/01/2019 11:16

@neveradullmoment99 love the red shoes. They would look good with a cropped black trouser, either slim cut or wide leg I think.

Ellapaella · 23/01/2019 11:18

No experience of the Bronte coat @trader21c but I actually find Hush have been a bit more true to size in outwear this season. I had the parka coat (sent back as didn't like the hood) in a 10 and it was a good fit (I am a standard 10).

Ellapaella · 23/01/2019 11:30

Hobbs are on Brand Alley and they have the Saskia trench coat on for £88 which is a real bargain if anyone interested

justilou1 · 23/01/2019 11:31

I love your summary, @Cherries. We often forget we are just animals. I was watching my giant, stupid, moose of a dog run away in terror because a dachshund barked at her. She has no idea she is a million times bigger than it. Her concept of “self” is different to everyone else’s perception. Just like me gravitating towards “fat lady clothes” when I am now really very slim. And you thinking that you are not in the right demographic for the leather leggings! Of course if you’re going to feel cringed when you leave the house in them, they’re not you. But you really do look great, and I wish you could see what we see!
Community Heath Nursing is one of my many areas of interest actually, @Cherries! I may come back and pick your brains!!! (It will be a while yet, I plan to go the more academic route if I can.) In Australia, Nursing is paid quite well compared to other countries - and I read today that salaries are actually going to go up over the next decade as well, due to increased need. Luckily this is one of the few areas I can say that Australia leads the way - pay for nurses. (Obvs could always be better!) I hope to work for a few years and then do my Masters and become a Nurse Practitioner. So many areas interest me - especially after having to be my father’s carer when he was dx with MND and then shortly afterwards, my mother with lung cancer. That’s what inspired my massive health kick and subsequent weight loss. Also having bone scans and MRI tomorrow, ladies - let’s dance the health scare dance! (I haven’t even told my husband yet, as he will imagine the worst, and I’ve got plans and health isn’t going to get in my way again!)

dontcallmelen · 23/01/2019 12:03

Just sounds like you really have a plan, onwards n upwards well done you, good luck with the health tests.
I have just had a reminder about breast screening, once I feel a bit better I will make an appointment, can’t keep ignoring the letters & should be thankful that it’s offered.
My halo still intact, day 23 it’s very boring though as I have avoided looking at any websites, not sure will be able to keep it up once the spring stuff starts filtering through.

Ellapaella · 23/01/2019 12:48

Good luck with your scans and MRI tomorrow Lou Thanks

These Levi's arrived today - they were reduced from £89 to £25, they are called 'Tapered leg' but actually they just seem like boyfriend jeans. I'm going to keep as the denim feels like such good quality and they really were a good price despite the fact I already have similar jeans.
They are a great fit over the bum - they kind of 'flatten' it if that makes sense. I haven't worn Levi's since being a teenager.

ilovecherries · 23/01/2019 13:43

Oh yes, bum looks great, Ella. Good find.

I’m wearing jeans, the custard yellow Vickie from last year, and heatgen. Off to have my eyes tested in a bit. I don’t know why having that done stresses me out, but it does! My glasses still actually feel ok, but my contacts don’t feel like the right prescription anymore.

@ilovecherries it's having someone so up close in your personal space that I don't like about it, also hate it when you can see the vessels on your eye 🤢

ilovecherries · 23/01/2019 14:01

Yes, I hate the personal space bit, and that thing where you have to count the flashing dots. And I loathe the retinal photography. Actually I think it’s that ominous poster they have up about how opticians can identify all sorts of things you didn’t know you had that really freaks me out.

Ooh I'm am so excited to say that the DM's fit! Hoorah! Arrived just now - this has made my week a whole lot better. Can't tell you all how much I love them. Let's hope they don't break my feet by the end of the week. Excuse the fluffy socks (wearing to break them in)

FuzzyCustard · 23/01/2019 15:17

ella I cant see you photos, just the little crosses. Is this because you are using the app and I'm not?
Disappointed, really wanted to see your DMs)

Ellapaella · 23/01/2019 15:26

Not sure Fuzzy - I am on the app and they seem to be there

miffy2 · 23/01/2019 16:28

Ella, just to echo what the others have said (as I have been reading a bit nut not able to post over the last few days) - I am hoping all goes well for you with your tests etc. I am sure it was a bit of a shock. DD has a heart murmur and was being monitored for it, but at 18 we discovered she had another issue which meant her heart was beating way too fast, too often. She had an EP study and ablation done last summer and has been fine ever since. I hope you are as easily sorted out :)

I love love love those DMs - well wear. I have a similar cheap version in black from Penneys and I find them so comfy. The Levis are cool, too. Is that a long grey jumper from H&M by any chance? I got a light grey one this winter but it has balled up really quickly.

Wearing my grey puff sleeve dress with thermal T and thermal tights today. It is baltic out but I need to be able to get my (fitted) under armour winter coat over my clothes for yard duty so can't wear anything too bulky. This worked out fine.

I am slightly tempted by the short tweedy frayed jacket but even with a £20 off code I would find it out of this month's budget. Hoping it sticks around or that something nicer catches my eye in February :D

Re: eye tests, I got an implant in one of my eyes almost 4 years ago (an alternative to laser surgery) and it was the best thing ever. I can read again! However the yearly tests are quite invasive and this year's one is going to involve dilation etc. I don't mind too much though as it is so liberating not to need glasses any more.

miffy2 · 23/01/2019 16:28

I meant 'but' instead of 'nut'. obviously.

Ellapaella · 23/01/2019 16:43

Thank you Miffy for your kind words. I'm going to see the adult congenital heart specialist tomorrow so will know a lot more soon and hopefully get an idea of when I have my procedure.
Yes the jumper is from H & M, I got it just before Christmas, think it was about £25 but I've worn it loads and it's lovely and warm.
Re the DM's - oh my goodness I can't stop looking at them, they have got to be the best thing I've bought in ages I think.

AFingerofFudge · 23/01/2019 17:12

Not much time to post but trying to keep up a bit and wanted to say ella I hope your appointment goes well tomorrow and that the fears will diminish xx

FuzzyPuffling · 23/01/2019 18:23

Slight name change...still me!

trader21c · 23/01/2019 19:11

Thanks Ella 😅

SoyYo · 23/01/2019 19:12

ella really like the Levis (I have a soft spot for Levi jeans as I wore them exclusively in my youth and DH refuses to wear any other jeans brand so a bit of a Levi household here) and that price! Amazing
AND the DM’s they look great! Surely those are not vegan ones? They look exactly like leather ones...wow and a good sign things are looking up for you Smile Stay positive by whatever means.

never I was super tempted by the Hush red shoes but thought they’d be too narrow for me Sad so I hope they’re good as I really think they’re lovely

I ordered some last minute Hush bargains last night: a couple of T shirts (one short, one long sleeved) the sweat in the lovely turquoise shade (spring round the corner after all) and some burgundy tights as they were a bargain at £5 AND got tempted by the Devore tiger camisole. I’m an idiot I don’t like wearing strapless bras and getting rather old for flimsy camisoles so that’ll probably go back. I just wanted to “stroke” it lovingly Grin as I think the leopard print fabric is great.
Should arrive tomorrow

justi what an interesting life you’ve had! Soprano singer now retraining as a nurse in Australia. Wow. (Btw I love Opera)

Ellapaella · 23/01/2019 19:18

@SoyYo these are leather in next size up. Last time I tried the 6.5 (my usual size) but I couldn't even get them on my foot!
These are a 7 and are a perfect fit. I was confused as all reviews said to size down as they are a big fit but I haven't found this at all.
