Seriously fed up with cropped trousers!

Just a rant really I cannot find normal length trousers anymore and I'm 5ft 8in - so ankle length trousers are actually calf length.
Anyone else desperate for this trend to disappear?

I'm 5'5 so find most of mine are long on me and need taking up to 7/8 length.

Have you tried Paul Smith/Jigsaw/Prada? My last pairs from each needed shortening so might suit you Smile

leaveby10 · 06/01/2019 12:47

Grin Thanks but no I haven't tried Prada or Paul Smith!

Jigsaw are not cut to suit my shape...trousers are a tricky thing to buy anyway!

Not me - sorry but I love them. My ankles are the best part of my legs thank you.

I thought it was a passing trend at first but now I'm starting to think they might be around for a while - just like low waisted was.

But I agree about calf length. I like them to end at the top of my ankle. And no bare skin in winter.

SinisterBumFacedCat · 06/01/2019 12:53

I hate them. I think they look ridiculous. And who wants cold ancles in January?

magbob · 06/01/2019 12:57

At 5'1" I now have 2 pairs of jeans that I love. They should be ankle length but are full length on me. I also have a pair of wide legged trousers that are perfectly full length on me. I ought to stock up whilst there is such a good choice!

MrsL2016 · 06/01/2019 13:00

I am finding this so frustrating when I want to wear socks and ankle boots for work. Walk outside in all weather so good footwear is important. Flat ankle boots look stupid with this type of trouser.

OrangeSamphire · 06/01/2019 13:01

I don’t see any men wandering around with exposed ankles in the winter. Can you imagine if menswear was full of only cropped trousers?

I’m so bored of it too. I won’t buy a single pair until this is over. Why should women totter about with frozen ankles? In the name of what?

WitsEnding · 06/01/2019 13:02

I hate them. My ankles aren't thin and I have large feet, so this style is the opposite of what suits me.

I shan't be buying any more trousers or jeans until normal-length trousers become available on my high street. Can't be bothered with internet shopping for things that are difficult to fit anyway.

There's a gap in the market here somewhere.

Lollicent · 06/01/2019 13:04

I'm 5'10" and I know what you mean! I buy my jeans from Land's End. They do different lengths.

Everley · 06/01/2019 13:08

I’m with magbob, I’m 5”2 so cropped trousers are often the perfect length for me to wear as full length Blush

Scabetty · 06/01/2019 13:27

Have you tried Uniqlo? I am 5’5’’ and find their cropped trousers cover my ankles so their full length would be too long for me. Good price and quality too. I used to buy Boden cropped but too £££

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 06/01/2019 13:32

I really like them - wide-leg crops and culottes have become a bit of a uniform for me. I wear knee-high socks or patterned tights under them at the moment, and either brogues or trainers.

Aaaahfuck · 06/01/2019 13:49

I'm 5'5 Nd sick if ankle length trouser not because they're too short. Well they are as they're ankle length and not full length! As it is bloody winter! I can't be the only one who gets cold ankles.

Thundertoast · 06/01/2019 13:56

YES OP
I love them... but in summer when a light breeze around the ankle is welcome! I have the worst internal temperature control and am always freezing.
Every pair of work-suitable trousers in the shops at the moment is cropped - i sit at a desk in a freezing cold office all day, i need ankle coverage! I'm 5"7 as well - hardly gigantic. I keep looking in the tall section out of desperation but all those are cropped too so the proportions are a bit off. The only successful trousers i've bought lately are from Roman and they are more like leggings anyway.

SouthWestmom · 06/01/2019 13:59

I managed to get some plain black full length ones from Next. Never shop there but I was desperate.

Pinkyyy · 06/01/2019 14:00

OP you need to buy from places where you can choose the leg length, I'm half an inch taller than you and I wear a 34" leg but most of my height is in my legs

Anyone seen the meme for ankle scarves? Grin

That was weird bunz Grin

leaveby10 · 06/01/2019 14:18

I have tried Uniqlo - they still aren't long enough. My legs really aren't that long but this trend has been too all consuming for far too long. I would love a pair of almost slouchy trousers, maybe in a pinstripe - not baggy - I like androgynous styles, but mens trousers don't suit my curves...I could probably find a pair of black ones but that's it, I want to break free!

OP posts:
MikeUniformMike · 06/01/2019 14:21

I dislike them because my legs aren't very long so they don't suit me. When I do wear them someone will ask "Are your trousers meant to be that length or did they shrink in the wash?" Every sodding time.

TSSDNCOP · 06/01/2019 14:22

Next: almost all the women’s trousers come in really long length if you scroll down the size list.

Processedpea · 06/01/2019 14:23

Uniqlo wool blend trousers are full length, I live in them in the colder months. they also do stretch trousers that are long so would fit you at 5 8
