Seriously fed up with cropped trousers!

Just a rant really I cannot find normal length trousers anymore and I'm 5ft 8in - so ankle length trousers are actually calf length.
Anyone else desperate for this trend to disappear?

of sorry see you've tried them, jaegar are very long look at the outlet

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 06/01/2019 14:25

Try doing a search by length on the John Lewis website. There are still some full length trousers around.

I’m fed up of it too tbh.
I managed to get a great pair of long trousers on nosiy may on asos just plain black they cover my ankles are high waisted but they are not tight fitted thank god. I’m literally living in them.
I’m searching on asos today for black trousers that cover my ankles but all the size 8 are out of stock sadly...and I find it impossible to find a decent pair of black trousers that fit in the shops

I really like them, I wear them (in slim fit) with socks and block heel ankle boots. The socks have to be really loud/ contrasting (but still coordinated with my overall outfit) as they can be seen when sat down!

I’ve worn them with flat brogue ankle boots (which I love) but they look slightly too Max Wall with flats!

DontFundHate · 06/01/2019 14:59

Yes, so annoying op, and I've found they don't even label the trousers and jeans as being shorter

The socks have to be really loud/ contrasting (but still coordinated with my overall outfit) as they can be seen when sat down!* I love proper ankle skimming length trousers too with a vague hint of groovy socks - I'm so hipWink but ankle length is calf length on me.... which becomes more clown like. I've taken to buying knee length socks to prevent flesh exposure but I'd ideally like longer trousers.

I’m 5’ 7” so not much shorter than you. I tend to buy 7\8ths in long length which are ankle grazers on me.

I have one ‘proper’ length pair, they are ankle grazers that I bought in long length, they’re ‘just’ long enough.

leaveby10 · 06/01/2019 15:32

@WineNotTea but my legs might be 2-3in longer than yours - depends on body proportions and shape, waist height etc. I need a 33in leg in jeans.

OP posts:
WineNotTea · 06/01/2019 15:37

Very true! My jeans are 32”

I haven’t looked but GAP may have some, mind you they drive me crazy because (online) they never have anything in stock in my size.

MikeUniformMike · 06/01/2019 19:44

I think that Uniqlo or Gap (can't remember which) tends to note the inside leg of the wearer on cropped items not the inside leg of the garment

halfwitpicker · 07/01/2019 01:15

God I couldn't even begin to consider having to incorporate matching socks into my wardrobe to coordinate with all the other stuff 8n order to wear these cropped trousers : it's all just too much!

Milliy · 07/01/2019 01:37

I don't ever buy ankle length. I'm tall so always buy 33 inch leg. I know it's a personal thing but I don't like the look of trousers that look like you're grown too much . Happened to much as a kid.

HundredMilesAnHour · 07/01/2019 09:11

I don’t see any men wandering around with exposed ankles in the winter.

Come to east London. There are LOTS of them. I particularly recommend WeWork in London Fields. You'll be hard pressed to find a covered-up male ankle there.

SoupDragon · 07/01/2019 09:16

Have a look at esprit www.esprit.co.uk/womenswear

Their trousers come in lots of styles and often offer different lengths (check the description to see what they actually say the length is rather than just going by the size. Bizarrely it's not always the same. I think the size is the leg it should fit rather than the actual length so cropped ones for a 34" leg won't be 34" long). Returns are free so you can order loads to try.
