I hate hate hate hate hate hate hate ironing!!!!!

wearenotacodfish · 11/01/2019 21:27

If it really needs ironing I either get DH to do it or put it in the bathroom with the shower on. I am a total slattern.

FuzzyCustard · 11/01/2019 21:28

len you love ironing? That is the weirdest thing I have ever read on Mumsnet.

I like washing though....

neveradullmoment99 · 11/01/2019 21:31

I don't like washing or ironing. What is wrong with you people??? Grin

dontcallmelen · 11/01/2019 21:32

I know am officially a bit weird, I even do dd’s ironing when I pop over to her place.

Laska2Meryls · 11/01/2019 21:33

I hate ironing, luckily DH is a whizz at it.. but i hang all my washing on hangers unless its outside in the summer, reduces ironing massively...

according to some internet sources leather can be washed but not totally convinced , or that putting leather either in a hot tumble dryer ( we dont have one), or in the freezer, (possible). freshens it up.. I will review after a few wears.. of course ill have the non-vpl nicks (will get some more) and my trusty Dyson! ..

dontcallmelen · 11/01/2019 21:34

Yup vpl nicks & a dyson you are sorted Laska

dontcallmelen · 11/01/2019 21:36

I love ironing all dgd little vests & babygros, I need to get out more.

ilovecherries · 11/01/2019 21:37

I taught dd how to iron when she was 8. And for the next 8 years paid her £5 a week to do it. Then the little madam doubled her price :)

Now that @cherries, is a good idea. I have two possible slaves Grin

dontcallmelen · 11/01/2019 21:47

Must confess I used to pay dd to clean the oven once a month, I hate that job.

ilovecherries · 11/01/2019 21:49

My parents moved into a brand new house in the 60s we kids (about 5 /6 at the time) were paid 1 old penny a bucket to move rubble from the supposed garden area to where Dad was going to put down the driveway.. Exploitation? No! We thought we were on to a good thing! Grin

neveradullmoment99 · 11/01/2019 22:00

After spending over £200 on mine, not sure I could do that. Maybe when they are older. What about you @cherries? Will you brave it?

neveradullmoment99 · 11/01/2019 22:02

What about you @Laska. Wash them then a tumble dryer [ you could always take to a laundrette] OMG could you imagine they ended up the size of a Barbie outfit? shudder....

Laska2Meryls · 11/01/2019 22:02

.. however we tried the same with our kids when we demolished an old garage a few years ago.. they were not having it !!

dontcallmelen · 11/01/2019 22:03

My mum used to pay me to go to the launderette every Saturday morning I was still at primary school, I thought it was great as I felt all grown up being in charge of the shopping trolley.

Laska2Meryls · 11/01/2019 22:04

Can't see that on my phone..I'll have a look tomorrow never

Ellapaella · 11/01/2019 22:48

I hate ironing - in fact I never do it. I have a super fancy tumble dryer with a setting in for 'cupboard ready' - it all cone spit without a crease in sight.
DH has been known to buy more shirts in order to avoid ironing any (Blush) now he takes them to the local laundrette for ironing.
My eldest ds (16) however is obsessed with it and irons everything he wears, even his socks. I have no idea where he gets that from, he's the only reason we actually have an iron!
Don't get the peg thing, that is just a little bit strange too. And towels - totally not matching in this house. In fact I've never bought a towel! I have loads of John Lewis and Christie towels and they were all either wedding presents or hand me downs from my towel obsessed mother who has to buy according to colour scheme and therefore replaces her perfectly good quality towels every 2 years after she's redecorated the bathroom!

NotAnActualSheep · 12/01/2019 09:50

Lol- I thought I'd missed something sale-related, as there were so many new posts, and it's a page and a bit about laundry habits!!! I'm definitely in the sniffing and crumpled camp. I don't actually mind ironing too much when I get round to it, but I always seem to end up ironing more ceases into things, and it's such a faff getting everything out I generally don't bother unless for a particular occasion. Anything that creases creases anyway by the time I have got to wherever I'm going, so it seems like weeing in the wind a bit. Our tumble dryer is a life saver ignores the electricity use

I love the photos. Huff , that coatigan looks wonderful...and I bet it's really soft and cozy. I need to stop looking at the toast website. I love the red velvet jacket too fudge. The colour and shape look like they really suit you. Ignore DH...it will be a very good thing to have in your wardrobe!

soups- that burgundy jacket looks lovely. As we've established, burgundy is basically a neutral, so will go with loads!! Though what a pain about your CC...hope that is sorted soon. Glad your DD is feeling a bit better. I suppose now the pressure of mocks etc is off, it gives her more space to recover properly.

porpoise those boots are amazing, and such a bargain with the jeans!!

cherries hope the second leg of your journey goes well today. I'm afraid I'm with Laska here, that if you can afford both, I think you should!! You probably will end up wearing one more than the other, but if you are like me, you don't know which that will be! As never said, black is probably more classically versatile, but the burgundy also won't date, and look brilliant for a "softer" look with colours like Laska has. Hard decision!

Hello soy- hope you got back OK last night, and are planning a relaxing weekend. Sounds like a bit of a mega-week... Hope your DS is OK too.

NotAnActualSheep · 12/01/2019 09:53

Oh, and toast has reduced those cords to £75 now, typically...and some normal wide leg ones. Still quite ££ though, so I'm holding off at least til I have sorted finances for this month...

Laska2Meryls · 12/01/2019 10:38

wearing my wardrobe today, DF and DB coming over and we are going out to lunch as its DBs birthday (his first without mum and we are going back to a nice foody pub we took her to for her birthday a year ago) . am wearing my Hush leopard leggings and Celt and co geelong slouch jumper( which actually turned out to be the dress instead that DH bought me for Christmas . Mine is the charcoal .. it is lovely and soft but sadly not in their sale(and neither is the jumper I originally asked for -curses )

I have a resolution to wear my nice things this year and not just keep them in the cupboard for best .. I would wear the leggings today but as i say the jumper turned out to be a dress when i put it on , and is just too long for them ..

I did try my leggings with the red and yellow toast jumper and liked the combo, but it will be too warm for the place we are going to today .. I'm pretty sure that jumper will be reduced further at some point.. ( i paid £115 for it!) ..

dontcallmelen · 12/01/2019 11:25

Laska I hope you have a lovely lunch, that’s one of my resolutions as well, clothes are to be worn not waiting for best.
Jeans & another Boden jumper for me today.

dontcallmelen · 12/01/2019 11:27

That’s a lovely dress, like the colour.
