tempted by Keihls 12.5% line reducing serum but it’s pricey - wondered if anyone had used it or could sing the praises of one they have used?

I’ve heard good things about the body shops drops of youth but not sure that’s vitamin c

LondonHuffyPuffy · 02/01/2019 00:13

La Roche Posay Redermic C10 is pretty good as is the Redermic C for under-eye area. I have just noticed it is on special offer on Escentual so I will be stocking up! Thanks for the nudge.

I have been blown away by the Vichy 10 day thingummy. Repeat purchase. I have never seen such a difference in my skin before. Seemed lit from within (in a good way!)
People on the skincare thread recommend one by GOW (iirc)
Avoid The Ordinary one- it's foul, like rubbing wet grit into your skin.

mmmgoats · 02/01/2019 00:33

I’m not familiar with many Vichy products and had never heard of GOW so just looking now thanks. I did look on the skincare threads but there was so much info I was a bit overwhelmed!

I use the Sunday Riley one, CEO rapid flash something or other, I really like it and it seems to brighten the skin almost instantly.
I’ve just bough the drunk elephant one which I’m looking forward to trying out.
I’ve not tried the khiels one as none of their stuff has ever really shown me anything special for the price.

mmmgoats · 02/01/2019 01:22

Thanks cake
the keihls reviews all seem to promise line fading properties which I KNOW is too good to be true but the sucker in me wants to believe!

Medik 8. None of the crap in it. Great serum, hyaluronic, and retinol products

Lottapianos · 02/01/2019 07:48

Garden of Wisdom 23% Vitamin c serum. Only a tenner, nearly twice the strength of Kiehls, nice consistency. Buy from Victoria Health website

mmmgoats · 02/01/2019 08:03

Interesting thank you! :)

If you want something natural but effective, try a Kakadu Plum & Quandong Serum. They are the most potent sources of Vitamin C. This is a good one. And it’s palm oil-free.

Kindnessisall · 02/01/2019 08:14

The Ordinary Vitamin C 23% suspension. Superb, a % that is actually effective and just a fiver. They do a 30% silicone based one but I prefer this powder based suspension. Amazing brand

CutesyUserName · 02/01/2019 09:23

I've tried a variety of Vitamin C serums and find the Garden of Wisdom from Victoria Health the best by far. As mentioned UT, only around a tenner, too.

absinthfaerie · 02/01/2019 10:29

i second sunday riley's ceo serum! also heard good reviews of beautypie's vit c capsules but i am yet to try them

Fibbertigibbet · 02/01/2019 11:31

Melano CC Concentration Measures Essence. It's Japanese, but even with importing it it's very affordable (maybe £9-11, lasts ages). Most vitamin C serums irritate my skin but this one doesn't at all, and visibly corrects and brightens my skin tone (I have acne pigmentation, results within 1 week). Can't recommend highly enough.

mmmgoats · 03/01/2019 11:52

thanks for tips!
I’ve got some samples of the keihls one and am thinking about ordering GOW because of the price!!
the Japanese one also sounds pretty impressive - where did you order yours from @flibbertigibbert

OP posts:
Fibbertigibbet · 03/01/2019 12:05

mmmgoats it's on Amazon, but often cheaper on eBay. The seller I use most often is ryushindojapan who are very reliable. make sure you get the stain remover serum/concentration measures which is a thin silver tube with a yellow cap.

mmmgoats · 03/01/2019 20:45

Thank you so much! :)

@flibbertigibbert I bought the melano one last night on amazon. Looking forward to it arriving

mmmgoats · 03/01/2019 21:05

@northerngravy excellent! Glad the thread was helpful to someone else too - what made you got for that one? I'm torn between it and the GOW one

OP posts:
NorthernGravy · 03/01/2019 21:14

@mmmgoats I hadn’t read this thread when I bought it! It’s been a total coincidence. I read it after reading up on vitamin c serums on reddit.

mmmgoats · 03/01/2019 21:40

Ah sorry my mistake @northerngravy hadn’t thought about reddit for reviews/advice as well :) hope it’s good when it arrives!

I started using the GOW serum a couple of months ago and see a noticable difference in my skin. Will buy again though have seen really good reviews of the Vichy serum so could be tempted to try it ... mind, GoW is much cheaper!

flourpower82 · 04/01/2019 04:25

I bought the obagi one recently - it was expensive but I was in the salon and it was there and I just wanted to start using something and knew it would take me a while to get round to researching and buying anything else. I'm pretty sure I'm seeing a difference already - my skin is looking good which I'm not used to!

However, it smells like death once it's reacted with the skin on my hand and I worry if it's making my face smell like that. I put moisturiser on on top of it and it's perfumed so I hope it's masking it but it is weird. Is anyone else having this issue or is it just me with weird skin (or a weird brand?)

mmmgoats · 05/01/2019 01:39

What’s the texture like @golden0ldie ? Is it a creamy serum or oily if that makes sense?
