I have just bought a Barbour jacket, white stuff velvet top and Brora scarf - all half price at JL. Of course I didn't know I needed any of it.

OP posts:
Sturmundcalm · 26/12/2018 18:05

@velvetroses - mandmdirect. really limited sizes for the ones i bought although i think they might have other styles (£54 seemed like a proper bargain as i nearly bought them two months ago at £70).

AuntyJackiesBrothersSistersBoy · 26/12/2018 18:30

Good grief. Shopping....the National sport/pastime of the uk.

whambamthankyou · 26/12/2018 18:33

Ooh which Barbour jacket did you get?

Scabetty · 26/12/2018 18:59

I ordered a pair of heeled shoes from Cos which I tried on in New York in the summer but never bought. I have also bought a Marc Jacobs mini Boho Grind bag which I have been looking at for a while. 2019 is a saving year Grin so just getting a few essentials in.

JustanotherCHRISTMASuser01 · 26/12/2018 19:01

Brought a couple of jumpers from monsoon - Love the quality cant afford their full prices so stocked up a little.
Got a fair bit of Christmas spending money so going shopping some point this week

LoniceraJaponica · 26/12/2018 20:50

Went to pick DD up from work. Meadowhall was still very busy at 7pm.

HundredMilesAnHour · 26/12/2018 23:08

I bought a lovely red leather backpack online from Smythson, with 50% off. Smile

At lunchtime today we were at a local outlet shopping centre and the queues were the longest we have ever seen (even compared to previous Boxing Days). It was absolutely bonkers!

TheBlackPearl · 30/12/2018 21:55

£175 for a handbag, madness.

Reminds me of this quote.

‘Don’t buy that £175 handbag to have nothing in it. Buy that £10 handbag to have £160 in it. Don’t go broke trying to look rich’

31weeksgone · 31/12/2018 00:40

Well, theblackpearl above would hate me because I spent £236 on a mulberry purse in the sale today. I love it though. It’s the Darley in Grey.

TheBlackPearl lost a fiver along the way somewhere Grin

Bombardier25966 · 31/12/2018 11:06

TheBlackPearl lost a fiver along the way somewhere

But is still £160 up on the lady with the overpriced purse.

Fabulouslyfatatfifty · 31/12/2018 11:14

I have a funny story about an expensive purse .. last year I spent my Christmas money on a £300 purse in the sales.

I was so disappointed with the inside of it, where the leather finished at the top of the cardholders and the note pocket the leather deteriorated, so much that it was coming off on my hands, to look at it looked like flaky cardboard.

So, when I was in Cath Kidston the other day I bought myself a purse, reduced from about £40 to £15, I figured that if it lasted twelve months it would be fine.

When I was unpacking my old £££££ purse and transferring everything over I discovered that the bits that had deteriorated were in fact very thin silky cardboard (think posh purse packaging)!!

I hadn't taken it out last year, and a year on even posh cardboard looks like cardboard!!

‘Don’t buy that £175 handbag to have nothing in it. Buy that £10 handbag to have £160 in it. Don’t go broke trying to look rich’

Remind me again who that famous quote comes from.

Most people spending more than £10 on a handbag aren't going broke to do so.

AllPizzasGreatAndSmall · 31/12/2018 11:21

And I'm guessing HundredMilesAnHour's backpack from Smythson was more like £500, even in the sale, but it's her money and her choice -again I don't suppose she's starving her children to pay for it.

veganrunnergirl · 31/12/2018 11:23

Yes, I got some vouchers as Christmas presents and have updated my wardrobe quite a bit, not going to buy anything for a few months now!

Two really pretty skirts from Thought Clothing www.wearethought.com/clothing-sale/
This dress from People Tree: www.peopletree.co.uk/sale/va-cherry-orchard-dress
Two basic Lyocel tops from Whistles in burgundy and green
Some leggings from Sweaty Betty

31weeksgone · 31/12/2018 12:58

I don’t think it’s madness if you can afford it and it makes you happy. Some people have expensive hobbies, or expensive holidays etc. I’m certainly not broke now I’ve bought a purse and my child is still fed, it makes me happy so Grin

Also got the coach hobo and a lovely Aspinal coin purse.

I’m a handbag/purse collector.

woodhill · 31/12/2018 13:36

I like Radley purses and they are as much as I want to pay but do last well,

Floisme · 31/12/2018 13:41

I'm not into bags but I do believe anything that is well made should be priced accordingly. Otherwise someone somewhere is getting ripped off.

Part of the problem is that some high end fashion products are not well made but I doubt whether Smythson falls into that category.

Almahart · 31/12/2018 14:32

I’ve orders some Saucony trainers and some Cos trousers

starsinyourpies · 31/12/2018 18:38

Damn you all and your Coach bags, I have just ordered two. Oops.

peachypetite · 01/01/2019 17:57

Has anyone got any great bargains? I got some new Nike running trainers reduced to clear in John Lewis

peachypetite · 01/01/2019 18:01

Also got some amie joggers from hush!

UserMe18 · 01/01/2019 18:43

I added up that I got £950 worth of fat face clothes for £420- I'm happy with that!! Especially as some of it is being sold full price still in fat face (bought it from next) jumpers knocked down from £49.50 to £13.30!!!!

woodhill · 01/01/2019 18:44

Fat face sale was excellent

ThankYouDebbie · 01/01/2019 22:11
