Eyebrows - should I go ahead? Pic

Posted yesterday about microblading.

Had a consultation today. It’s been on my mind to get it done for ages.

This is the planned end result, should I go ahead?

Honest opinions please.

Onviously before and ‘after’

Am totally confused now!

Please go for SPMU rather than micro-blading. The latter is much harsher on the skin and can leave permanent scars which can be really hard to tattoo over when you inevitably have to make the switch to SPMU (which you will have to eventually because the hairstrokes blend out over time, meaning after maybe 2 or 3 2yr retouches with hairstrokes you will need to go for an ombre/ powder brow if you want to continue with permanent brows).

Disclaimer I am in no way an SPMU artist or anything like that, I do get mines done though by a lady who is regarded the top of her field for this part of the country and she is constantly posting photos of her fixing microblading. Sadly she has to turn some people away because they just can't be fixed to her standards!

I absolutely love having permanent eyebrows though and haven't paid for a wax or thread in 5 years as the upkeep is easy peasy and you have a clearly defined template to pluck. I really like the photo you posted of the finished result, it's important to note that eyebrows can never be twins because of our bone structure.. it's like trying to draw the same picture twice, once on a ball and once on a piece of paper- the pictures are never going to look the same but the trick is to get them looking like great sisters which I think the picture you've posted achieves 😊

Thomlin · 10/12/2018 22:02

Also agree with the poster who said the start of the brows shouldn't be straight up and down/ 90 degrees.. they should be at more of an angle!

Zoosie · 10/12/2018 22:03

I know I said microblading but it actually is semi permanent make up, not microblading.

Ahhh ok zoosie that's good then! Is it a combo brow you're getting or an ombre? I had a combo brow first and then switched over to ombre which I love, wish I'd been brave enough to do that the first time 😊

Womantheonlykind · 10/12/2018 22:07

Don't do it! Natural looks better.

MazDazzle · 10/12/2018 22:07

The top pic is much better! Have you seen plenty of pics of people’s eyebrows she’s done? Have any of your friends had it done by her?

I never wear makeup and neglect my brows, so would be the last person to go for microblading. A couple of my friends got theirs done though, so I went for it and I am so pleased! They are very soft and natural looking. It ‘finishes’ my whole face if you see what I mean and looks like my eyebrows have been tinted and filled in slightly.

My friend had hers done 2 years ago and they still look good. Another friend’s only lasted 6 months though. It can depend on skin type/lifestyle etc.

Bluntness100 · 10/12/2018 22:08

Ach op, you need to remember there are folks on here who think women who wear make up have some form of mental health issues, they don't dye their hair, and would never share their legs and are happy with their pubes hanging out their swimming suit. So micro blading will be like some form of crime against feminism.🤪

The after, the top photo, is better, it looks fuller and more youthful, your natural brows are little too sparse, and the bit closest to your nose is not full enough.

They are fine, but yes, I'd go for it. They look great.

Zoosie · 10/12/2018 22:09

I guess this is really just personal preference judging by the vast range of opinions from do it to don’t do it.

She’s going to use a much lighter tint that the picture! It was just done with an eyebrow pencil, so they were drawn on!

StarkatHeart · 10/12/2018 22:14

I think both looks are good.
If you prefer the natural look, stick with your own and grow them out and shape them as you want (as much as you can as hair growth does slow down as we get older sadly) and then you could use pencils daily to thicken etc.

If you're going to do anything which is perm just be sure first Smile

By the way Op I am not one of these women 😂 I wear make up everyday and am very into beauty.
I just think your natural eyebrows look better.
The other shape look to harsh to me and a little dark.
I always think that full natural looking eyebrows are more youthful.

AssassinatedBeauty · 10/12/2018 22:19

Well I dye my hair and occasionally shave my legs, so perhaps that renders my opinion valid in the eyes of people like bluntness.

Womantheonlykind · 10/12/2018 22:22

I've never met anyone matching Blunt's description on here or in rl.

Seems like a weird misogynistic cliché that.

Whilst egging someone on to tattoo their face.

I have always held with the opinion that tattooing your face is never a good idea. Fashion changes and so do faces. Adaptability is key.

CrookedMe · 10/12/2018 22:27

Bit dramatic Bluntness Confused

In all likelihood microblading will be old fashioned, as will thicker eyebrows, in a year or two, and so many people will be stuck with lines drawn on their foreheads!

chopper2311 · 10/12/2018 22:40

I had micro blading 18 months ago, was rubbish and faded on me leaving just a few hair strokes.

Just had my 'top up' of my semi-permanent hairstroke/shaded eyebrows. BEST THING EVER !!

I have naturally fair (invisible) eyebrows and always waxed/tinted... now nothing just beautiful natural looking brows 😊😊😊

Zoosie · 10/12/2018 22:42

Anyone willing to share their eyebrow after pictures?

OP posts:
Zoosie · 10/12/2018 22:44

I'm 38! Just a little too old to get the dramatic eyebrow look but I think my brows need a little help!

They were the same shape to those who asked! I do think it's the angle of the picture.

OP posts:
Refilona · 10/12/2018 22:47

Can you not shape your eyebrows differently? They are a little tadpole like someone said but surely you can shape them so they look more like the top ones? Then use a brow pencil or powder to fill them?

Noloudnoises · 10/12/2018 22:51

Ooh bottom picture is MUCH nicer! The top one looks too fake. Any chance you can grow them? Also a make up artist mate once told me to use a suitable brown or grey eyeshadow to fill in eyebrows rather than a pencil as it looks more natural.

Zoosie · 10/12/2018 22:51

Sadly my eyebrows don't grow! Have never had them waxed or plucked! This is what I've got!

OP posts:
Zoosie · 10/12/2018 22:55

Ohhhh Mumsnet is brutal!

Now that you've all put it in my head that my natural ones look tadpole like, it makes me more keen to tattoo!

I just think if I'm going to be pencilling in and filling and having to do them every day then why not make life easier

Thanks again for replies!

No.7 do a cheap n cheerful clear Lash & Brow perfector, works wonders.

OHolyNightOwl · 11/12/2018 01:05

I also prefer your natural ones. Brush them up, fill in gaps with fine liner and you are sorted.
You could try an eyelash serum on them if you want thicker ones.

TheDowagerCuntess · 11/12/2018 01:23

Much prefer your natural brows.

As others have said, the microbladed ones look bladed, and I honestly think that harsh, square corner looks so dated now. Much more dated than your regular brows.
