I like Brigitte Macron, she’s very rock n roll!

user1457017537 · 02/12/2018 08:57

I just love Carole Middleton and all she has achieved.

Parker231 · 02/12/2018 09:06

User145 - I agree. She has worked hard and developed a successful business. I imagine Christmas at her home would be a lot more fun and child friendly than at Sandringham. More sitting around in your PJ’s all morning opening and playing with presents.

Clionba · 02/12/2018 09:08

Carole always looks good. She's worked hard, and has got negative press because she's a woman, and because of her origins. Why break the silence? Who knows.
That red dress is lovely.
I agree about Princess Madeleine, her wedding dress was gorgeous and she always looks good.

mrscampbellblackreturns · 02/12/2018 09:11

Maybe as someone suggested they are gearing up to sell Party Pieces?

If William and Kate are going to Sandringham for Christmas - well I would love to be a fly on the wall. Can you imagine Andrew chortling away at all the bad press that is going on at the moment. And what would the atmosphere be like?!

QueenOfTheAndals · 02/12/2018 09:14

Andrew is a waste of space! And shouldn't be too triumphant as dodgy revelations about him may be forthcoming. Meghan may have her faults but at least she isn't mates with a paedophile!

Clionba · 02/12/2018 09:14

The Daily Mail (sorry, I know) are now leading with a less unpleasant piece. Basically saying William was concerned that Harry was rushing into marriage, he hadn't known Meghan long etc. That seems plausible to me, but probably much of the rest is hearsay and conjecture.

IPromiseIWontBeNaughty · 02/12/2018 09:18

Well dh & I got engaged very quickly also. DBIL told dh to not rush into anything either - perfectly sensible. I don’t hold it against him because he had his brothers best interests at heart. Hopefully it’s similar & makes sense.

DM was scathing of Kate & her mum & now they have another victim. It’s in their dna. Gits.

mikado1 · 02/12/2018 09:20

I assumed CM was interviewed as owner of PP, rather than mother of DC..

Parker231 · 02/12/2018 09:20

I’m from Belgium and like following what our Queen is wearing. She has a great sense of what suits her and has an amazing shoe collection. It will be interesting to see Princess Elisabeth’s outfits as she gets older.

Goat isn't maternity, they just do shift dresses which are very forgiving. I was looking at them a lot for myself before I lost the baby weight. You can get them on sale from time to time. I think they're on the Outnet.

Carol has gotten rid of her fringe and looks tons better for it. Fringes can be harsh on the over 50s sometimes. Not sure why - maybe because they come down to the eyebrows?

I absolutely hate all those negative stories, though I reserve the right to discuss them since this is both style and gossip. And by god its some serious gossip. Its clear Meghan is "doing a Philip" and pissing off people who maybe should cop themselves on. Philip wanted to modernise and he got a fair bit done. He got the Coronation televised and was huge in that process, he got phonelines put in to end the ridiculous system of footmen pottering to and fro with messages. He made good changes all along, but by God he was loathed at the time. A penniless nobody, and not even properly English!

IPromiseIWontBeNaughty · 02/12/2018 09:48

Didn’t some courtier try & explain to Philip about how Windsor worked & he said I know, my mother was born here or some such thing?!

Clionba · 02/12/2018 09:55

Yes, he was being given a tour of Windsor Castle and it's history was being explained. That's when he told them his mother was born there! Sting! I know some people meet and marry quickly, I did, and it has been long lasting. However, I can understand William's concern, given Harry's situation. He must also have thought about their parents' marriage and how little they knew each other before they wed. Fiasco.

Bloominglovely · 02/12/2018 10:10

Want2bSuperMum You probably understand the politics of living in the palace more than anyone else here. I’m fascinated by the idea you grew up with staff. What is it like? Did you see your parents often? Did you realise as you got into your teenage years about the level of poverty in the UK? Were you told to keep away from many areas? Did you have people to run errands for you? Did you have to dress in a particular way? Were you ever photographed at events? How did your brother who grew up in the same environment end up driving for PH? Are you the same poster who is looking at gowns for 10K? Did you study and achieve huge success professionally? Did you marry well? Do you have staff now? Don’t answer if you don’t want to of course. I am fascinated by it all.

Clionba · 02/12/2018 10:19

Parker nice pic of the Belgian royals. Mathilde is very attractive, and they look like a happy family. I like Elisabeth's trousers, it's so difficult to dress girls appropriately, isn't it?

QueenOfTheAndals · 02/12/2018 10:20

Think you might need a new thread for all that @Bloominglovely!

OP posts:
QueenOfTheAndals · 02/12/2018 10:21

I don't know @Clionba, the Spanish and Dutch princess are always well-dressed, as is IA of Norway. It's only the Brits who insist on dressing girls like 50yo matrons!

OP posts:
Bloominglovely · 02/12/2018 10:22

Maybe 😀

But st least the answers would be factual instead of the endless surmising on the thread.

AhoyDelBoy · 02/12/2018 10:23

Yes I’m SuperMum ask me anything perhaps?

Clionba · 02/12/2018 10:24

The Spanish princesses do dress well, I assumed that was down to Leti, one of my style icons! I've also seen the Swedish children dressed nicely. They seem to avoid labels, crass designs or making the children look too young or too old.

QueenOfTheAndals · 02/12/2018 10:28

It'll be interesting to see if any of Max's daughters inherit her panache!

OP posts:
beanaseireann · 02/12/2018 10:46

I loved Carole Middleton's outfits she wore at both her daughters' weddings. Absolutely beautiful.

Butterymuffin · 02/12/2018 10:58

Yes, do an AMA @Want2bSupermum!

chumsnet · 02/12/2018 11:04

People who work as senior members of the Royal Household (“courtiers” or “mandarins” or “Men in Grey Suits”) are not just poorly paid and easily replaced employees. They’re certainly not domestic staff.

They’re usually the younger sons (and very occasionally daughters) of titled or certainly landed families. They have usually had a prior career in the Army or Navy and then do a stint for five or ten years for one of the Royals before moving back to their farms or family business and getting involved with County administration (things like TA, Lord Lieutenants etc). They’re Masons and Freemen of the City and the bedrock of the Establishment. So they’re much posher than the Middletons and the Markles and they usually need to have you know it. They’re completely institutionalised and like hierarchy and territory. They see their stint as a bit of fun, not a career. So woe betide anyone who thinks they need to shape up.

chumsnet · 02/12/2018 11:05

Meghan’s assistant - the one who quit - is not the usual kind of PS and I suspect it was her colleagues and not her boss who made her most miserable.
