Are the Charlotte Tilbury products any good?

I've been seduced by their marketing I think - but going to be near a store tomorrow and wondering if any of their products are actually as good as the marketing and worth a buy?

I like the eyeliner, it's very good and long lasting. The lipsticks are also really good. Haven't tried much else!

gingernutrichtea · 22/11/2018 09:22

I just brought lip cheat lip liner and I think serena lipstick. I wouldn't recommend the liner it's really faint and needs sharpening all the time. The lipstick feels nice and smells lovely but it did look more pink
And now it's quite coral! So beware of colours

sofato5miles · 22/11/2018 09:22

Pillow Talk lipstick and the two times blushers

gingernutrichtea · 22/11/2018 09:22

Interesting about the eyeliner- I'm looking for a long lasting one, which dou use PP?

LizzieBennettDarcy · 22/11/2018 09:34

I was lured in by people posting on here how wonderful it is.

Don't fall for it! It's Rimmel quality at high end prices.

I bought a complete kit at around £150... and even my teenage DDs wouldn't use it. It was awful quality, especially the mascara.

I personally think she's got PR bots posting on here.............

Sweetheart · 22/11/2018 09:37

Ahhh interesting - I actually had a MAC makeover in March and brought their eyeliner so not really in need of another one just yet.

I had been eyeing up their magic cream (especially eye cream) maybe foundation or concealer

Get samples rather than splashing out.

I learned the hard way Grin

Great tip Lizzie - thanks Grin

Do not buy the mascara! Drops like pine needles from a Christmas tree.

LaurieFairyCake · 22/11/2018 10:26

I have the eyeliner thick pencil - it's grey glittery and looks great on my brown eyes. I use it every day.

The powder is the absolute best - it's the only powder I've ever rebought. It's incredibly fine and is the perfect colour for me. I never touch up during the day and I never touch my face - it does not sink into lines

Here is me wearing the eye pencil right now Grin

Mixed bag. I like their lipsticks and their eyeshadow creams/sticks. I also like their eyeshadow palates but think they may irritate my eyes. I thought their mascara and under eye concealer was crap.

Cabochard · 22/11/2018 11:28

Lauriethat eye pencil looks lovely. Does it last all day/ no smudging?
I’m 47, so l don’t want it bleeding all over my eyelids? Grin

LaurieFairyCake · 22/11/2018 11:50

Yes ! But like with all bloody pencils on our age group I have to use a base. I've been using one about 8 years.

I use a Laura mercier one

Ballbags · 22/11/2018 11:54

I love Charlotte Tilbury (don't care if it's all about the marketing!).

Favourites are: Scent of a Woman perfume, the new Mascara, the eyshadows (Golden Goddess and Eyes to Mesmerise Bette), Magic Cream (v.v expensive though) and Beauty Light Wand.

Don't like the lipsticks, no better than cheap ones

StillSmallVoice · 22/11/2018 12:08

Ballbags - Just goes to show how subjective all this stuff is. I absolutely love the lipsticks.

If you are going into the shop be aware that they are very, very effective sellers. It is very easy to come out with stuff you didn't really want/need, having spent a stupid amount of money.

Pretamum · 22/11/2018 12:18

I love Charlotte Tilbury stuff - and I'm definitely not a PR bot! I love her eyeshadow palette for the Dolce Vita look. It's the only pallette I've ever bought where I, a makeup doofus, can make my eyes look as if they've been professionally done. I always get lots of compliments on my eye make up when I use it. But I do find that the glittery eyeshadow in the palette can irritate my eyes, so if you have sensitive eyes / skin it might not be right for you.
I bought one of her blusher/bronzer compacts too - loved it but then I dropped it and the powder shattered, gutted as it just doesn't apply the same now it's just clumps of broken powder.

Cabochard · 22/11/2018 12:59

Thanks laurie 😉 - true.

EraOfTheGrey · 22/11/2018 13:17

I like the Magic foundation but no more than I like Nars weightless foundation.
I've bought the eyeshadow quads which were ok but was disappointed in the lipstick. I bought into trying the 'iconic' pillow talk lipstick and although I like the colour I found the lipstick drying.

I won't be buying anything else as the quality doesn't match the price.

TheMonaOgg · 22/11/2018 13:26

I love Walk of Shame lipstick. It manages to make my measles lips look plumper and fuller.

MissLadyM · 22/11/2018 13:33

I'm not a fan. The eyeshadows look pretty but the pigmentation & staying power is crap. The lipsticks are no better than cheap ones and the foundation is thick & claggy. She uses her celeb pals to push her brand but I'm not impressed with any of it

TeddyIsaHe · 22/11/2018 13:34

Yes don’t spend money on CT and save up a bit and go for Hourglass instead. I’ve bought a few bits and not had a single dud yet, nothing from CT lived up to the hype.

Talcott2007 · 22/11/2018 13:34

I really rate the pillow talk lipstick and lip liner. This one was recommended by the make up artist during my wedding trial. Its the only lipstick I found that doesn't make me look like a corpse or that I've been smearing jam around my face!

SillyPsychicAcid · 22/11/2018 13:41

Biggest tip would be don’t bother! Overhyped, overpriced, doesn’t deliver. It’s all marketing, no substance.

Ballbags · 22/11/2018 13:44

@StillSmallVoice I've got Pillowtalk in my handbag. Have just reapplied it but guarantee it will have slid off by 2.30pm.

EraOfTheGrey · 22/11/2018 13:49

Agree with TeddyIsasHe
For the same money then I would go for Hourglass. I'm a massive fan of Hourglass because the quality is simply excellent.
