Your loves and hates

Thought it might be fun to see what everyone loves and hates to see trend/fashion wise!

I love anything with lace/broderie anglaise, smock dresses, nice neat leather monk shoes, simple but girly/pretty jewelry in RG or silver only, designer handbags (I have a gorgeous plum chloe faye Grin) blouses with pussycat bows and anything with an unusual pattern.

I hate the new ‘athleisure’ trend, cheap handbags with metal link straps, sportswear being worn as normal clothes/fashion, the revival of 90s gear, teddy bear coats, cheap bodycon, cold shoulder (cut out ones, not bardot) tops/dresses (ugh, chavvy!)

That's us judged

thelittlesquidge · 22/11/2018 09:19

@littlemeitslyn Not judging, just interested to see what everyone likes/dislikes!

I love Athleisure and Japanese desigers. Just got a Issey Miyake Pleats Please dress on eBay for a good price. You do come across as judgemental.

BigusBumus · 22/11/2018 09:46

I dislike nearly all of your likes, apart from the jewellery.

I live mostly in nice jeans, black longline tops and ponchos so I suppose that's what I like.

thelittlesquidge · 22/11/2018 11:45

Not judging anyone, just thought it’d be an interesting thread - we all like what we like and all dislike what we dislike! Nothing at all wrong with that, I was merely curious!

Mercurial123 · 22/11/2018 12:02

But calling someone's taste chavvy is judgemental. Your likes would be my dislikes but it would be boring if we were all the same.

AutumnShades · 22/11/2018 12:35

You sound like a judgemental dick HTH

Bombardier25966 · 22/11/2018 12:40

Not judging anyone

I hate the new ‘athleisure’ trend, cheap handbags with metal link straps, sportswear being worn as normal clothes/fashion, the revival of 90s gear, teddy bear coats, cheap bodycon, cold shoulder (cut out ones, not bardot) tops/dresses (ugh, chavvy!)

If you don't think that's judgmental, what do you think is?

Bombardier25966 · 22/11/2018 12:43

And I'm sat here in two pairs of leggings and a North Face hoody. Is that chavvy enough for you? Grin

Ellapaella · 22/11/2018 12:48

I have a teddy coat, fair enough not to everyone's tastes but I bloody love it. So warm and cosy.

thelittlesquidge · 22/11/2018 13:18

@AutumnShades Because I’ve passed comment on what I like and dislike? Goodness it doesn’t take much for people to get riled up on here... Other people can think what I like is common/chavvy, I don’t care, I don’t really care what others want to wear, just thought in a topic for style and beauty that discussing what we liked and disliked was a-okay. What’s so wrong with passing judgement on clothing/shoe styles anyway? It’s great that we’re all different, life would be boring if we weren’t - so what’s the issue? 😂

AutumnShades · 22/11/2018 13:28

If you check your OP you will see clearly that by listing more items that you dislike and call 'chavvy' than items that do like you set the tone of the thread straightaway as being more judgemental and negative than wanted an honest debate.

You then say you don't really care what others want to wear - so why contradict yourself and start a thread in the first place Hmm I mean, if you don't really care?

Please stop starting goady judgemental threads about things you don't care about and perhaps go discuss it IRL with equally judgemental folk?

Kittykat93 · 22/11/2018 13:32

Op you must be able to understand why people dislike your use of the word chavvy and the whole tone of your post??

Of course we all like different things, but you sound like you're sneering at people which isn't in good spirit.

sizzledrizz · 22/11/2018 13:44

YOu must be very cold OP
Right now I love leggings under jeans, sheepskin liners in my boots, my North Face arctic parka, my uggs, and my hoodies.

SillyPsychicAcid · 22/11/2018 13:46

It’s using the word chavvy.

Fine for people to have differing tastes, and yes, exploring that can make an interesting discussion.

But using a put down to describe other’s taste is going to indicate judginess. Especially a word like that, which indicates you look down on other people depending on their background. Which isn’t ok no matter what word you use about it.

justforareply · 22/11/2018 13:49

I love the athleisure trend! It means I can wear trainers at work most of the year. I buy special fancy expensive ones and keep them for work so they are clean and smart Smile

Nettletheelf · 22/11/2018 13:52

Are all handbags with chain straps cheap, or are they ok on expensive bags? I must know. I might be chucking out the Coach bag later, depending upon your answer.

JW1226 · 22/11/2018 14:07

I like black black and more black!
Black leggings under my black jeans with my black jumper with my grey uggs.
No nail varnish but filed nails, deep purple or brownish/neutral lipstick.
(Very boring I know)

I don't like big fur, Pom poms on shoes, sequins on me I'm more of a plain Jane with a big personality lol.

SapphireSeptember · 22/11/2018 14:19

Love, frock coats, cloaks, robes, long dresses and skirts, tops and cardies with flowing sleeves (does it look like something a Harry Potter character would wear? If yes, I want it!) Favourite colours are black and dark jewel tones. Also love combat boots and pointy toe ankle boots.
Like, denim jackets, plaid shirts, band t-shirts. I like white, grey, brown and some bright colours, stripes, polka dots and some patterns, sneakers and ballet flats.
Hate, trousers, jeans, anything remotely sporty, pastel colours. Hate high heels and platform shoes, can't walk in them.
Jewellery wise, chokers, silver, black velvet ribbon, bling, anything sparkly, anything related to Harry Potter, (Hufflepuff crest, snakes, that sort of thing,) rose gold, cubic zirconia. Hate anything Christmas related.

LegoPiecesEverywhere · 22/11/2018 14:28

It comes across as judgemental as you mention chavvy and cheap. I prefer designer to Primark but I can afford it others can’t and I would never judge their clothing because they are cheap.

goingonabearhunt1 · 22/11/2018 14:40

I'm obv cheap; I love primark, hoodies and trainers Grin Also I like some of the 90s style stuff that's around atm (like the racing stripes and little dresses). I like the textured kind of fabrics that are around at the moment, got like a kind of tweedy grey dress in Zara recently and love it (not tweed but I don't know how to describe). I love grey and purple, converse and big colourful bags. I dislike anything with bows, sequins, embellishments or just general 'fussy bits' on it (can look great on others, not not me). Also dislike any heels that aren't low chunky boots and anything lace/velvet.

goingonabearhunt1 · 22/11/2018 14:42

I also like the tartan prints around atm and the big jumpers (oh and the furry coats!)

thelittlesquidge · 22/11/2018 15:40

@goingonabearhunt1 I’m loving all the tartan around too! So gorgeous. Just got a dress in blackrod (I think?) tartan last week and don’t want to take it off!

OP posts:
thelittlesquidge · 22/11/2018 15:41

@goingonabearhunt1 Absolutely nothing wrong with Primark, I love me some Primarni Grin their pjs are always fab!

OP posts:
thelittlesquidge · 22/11/2018 15:43

@SapphireSeptember Thank you for such an extensive reply! I love your “If it looks like something a HP character would wear” criteria! Who doesn’t want to swan around with a swishy robe tbh! 😉
