Look like a lap dancer forever ;) I'm 32 this year, is it time for the chop ?

BTW - I am a lot older than 30... but that is roughly when I gave up the witchy hair - regretfully - 'cos kidded myself I could carry it off. When I see actresses like the desperate hosuewives who are 40, but the new 30, I jus think its time to pass the baton to the twentysomethings along with the baydoll nighty things worn in the day.

ahundredtimes · 19/06/2007 21:27

Also bear in mind that in your 30s you hair isn't quite as lustrous and gorgeous as it was in your 20s. Or is that just me? I used to have longer hair in my 20s but now rapidly heading up towards 40, I think it'd look a bit lank and unremarkable if it was longer than shoulder length.

Ah there we are, I'm bitter, that's why I want you all to lop it off.

CountessDracula · 20/06/2007 09:45

where is pph when you need her??

tarantula · 20/06/2007 10:00

PMSL at this thread. I'll join StG in the witchypoo corner. I think its fine to have long hair at any age you fancy so there (sticks tongue out). (says she sitting at work with long hair in a bun and not a clip or grip in sight. It holds itself up)

MintyDixCharrington · 20/06/2007 11:40

long hair down to waist is ALWAYS horrible

no exceptions

chop it off

I've done threads on this before. you may think it looks nice but in fact it looks creepy and wierd. and people with excessively long hair always identify themselves with it, like that is all they are, hair

eurghghgh

cut it off and cultivate a personality instead

bundle · 20/06/2007 11:41

there was one on trinny & susannah the other week, she looked sooo much better without it.

Hideehi · 20/06/2007 11:42

Fecking hell minty it's only hair

groovergirl · 20/06/2007 11:53

Does long hair suit you? If so, keep it. It's not a question of age, and anyway, I get very suspicious of people who say women should not have long hair after a certain age. They'd probably also say a woman shouldn't have sex after a certain age. I am 41, have glossy chestnut tresses that give me much sensual pleasure, and I'm always glad to see my 98-year-old friend who has waist-length silver hair worn in a most elegant French roll. Oh, and long hair is also super low-maintenance; wash twice a week, trim twice a year. Easy.

MamaMaiasaura · 20/06/2007 22:01

hmm minty if I had to choose between my long hair or your personality that you are portraying on this thread I know what I would choose!

I have had alot of positive comments from strangers as well as friends about my hair. Long, dark red, wavy, thick and healthy. I absolutely love it now (hated it growing up tho). OK mine isnt to my waist but to bra strap but if you are happy with your hair then have it styled how you like.

MintyDixCharrington · 20/06/2007 22:51

calm your pants awen
bra strap fine. lovely, flowing, cindy crawford, rita hayworth, whatever.

waist - creepy and bizarre (unless you are southeast asian actually)

It is just a rule of life. western women with waist length hair never have a sense of humour, are a bit wierd, and completely identify themselves with their hair.

so sayeth Minty

stevethesturgeon · 20/06/2007 22:56

Mine is past longer than shoulder length, but wouldn't like it too much longer as it looks a bit nuts in may.

I've realised though that i may well be mrs badgers scatty old bat who puts it up messily. Its wavy, and i put it in a loose bun, and bits always stick out and hang down. I kind of think it has natural charm, but now i realise its scatty bat. Oh dear.

(i'm boco, must go change out of my costume)

stressteddy · 20/06/2007 22:58

I think longer hair is fine on any age so long as it is in a style
When it is just left to grow any old how it usually accompanies someone with no make up on and cheesecloth tendencies!

Hideehi · 20/06/2007 23:00

Well as i said i'm more lapdancer than cheese cloth , feck it i'm keeping it now, it cost enough

Long long hair on women is too Plymouth Brethren for me and does look odd. I also think it ages you a lot.

Imagine having it cut and the bounce and style you would have.

Take a photo and show us now and then book into an expensive hairdressers and chop it off! And show us!!

Ive got bra strap length hair in good nick.

DH always nags me to cut it, but I feel weird with short hair.

It suits me, its thick and easy to put up.

I personally wouldn't go lon ger than bra though. did you see that castaway woman on BBLB last night? she had long extensions in and lookd dreadful

Lullabyloo · 21/06/2007 09:00

Had my hair cut a couple of weeks ago...from sitting on length to mid back...it's glossier & thicker.....but I miss it

bozza · 21/06/2007 09:14

I've got top of shoulder blades length which is the longest I have had it for a while. I quie like it but don't think it will go much longer without getting too wispy at the ends.

In a way I quite fancy an angled bob, but I don't think it would suit me. I have a wide jaw and my hair is naturally a bit wavy so would have styling issues.

Cammelia · 21/06/2007 09:19

My 50 year old sil has beautiful extremely long glossy chestnut hair and it still looks fab.

hatwoman · 21/06/2007 10:07

I was thinking about this thread when I watched BB last night. I'm a massive Davina fan but I'm really not keen on her longer hair. is it her age? is it the casualness/girliness of longer styles? (or of her particular style) is it because it's not thick enough to be long? is it because it's lost its gloss? or does it just not suit her? I can't put my finger on it but she's not looking as good as she can.

Hideehi · 21/06/2007 10:17

Ok can a clever person make me a link please ?

Here I am with witchy/lap dancer hair and for good measure I've enclosed one of me with a POB to compare.

mp;gid=16894035&uid=6755737&members=1 there you go

I think i prefer the shorter style

MamaMaiasaura · 21/06/2007 10:24

hatwomen - its cos she not pregnant

MrsBadger · 21/06/2007 10:27

mp;gid=16894035&uid=6755737&members=1 link here

hair looks in much better condition with the Pob IMO
but the long ones do not appear witchy

this is witchy and weird

MrsBadger · 21/06/2007 10:28

gah, your link has a space in so will fox the MN system
