As for the dungarees or overalls as we call them in the US, I grew up on a farm. So no, unless you are a toddler or planning to plow the back forty.

DontCallMeCharlotte · 12/11/2018 20:42

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Meghan would do well to check out Leti's style. I think it would suit her really well. If she can find her own British Caroline Herrera...

Paradyning · 12/11/2018 20:55

Agree about Leti's style suiting MM.

I've never liked those Prada sandals of Kate's though. Sorry guys.

QueenOfTheAndals · 12/11/2018 20:59

I think Meghan is pretty wedded to Givenchy for the time being, and can't say I blame her. Clare Waight Keller is British so at least that's something!

Will need to dig out some Leti maternity clothes. Would be interesting to see how she did it.

Paradyning · 12/11/2018 21:13

Found this
www.harpersbazaar.com/celebrity/latest/g14773230/royal-pregnancies-pictures/

Thankfully the world has moved on from Diana style mat wear!

Paradyning · 12/11/2018 21:17

It's weird seeing Leti with boobs and her old nose.

Colabottle10 · 12/11/2018 21:37

Need to go back and read to catch up on the days posts but OMG how funny is the gofugyourself blog!

Quantumblue · 12/11/2018 21:38

Love how Max did pregnancy, still so vibrant and larger than life.

Paradyning · 12/11/2018 21:39

I just adore Max

CrookedMe · 12/11/2018 21:39

The DM is really starting to get the claws out for Meghan isn't it?

They're comparing her make up yesterday to Kate's, insinuating that hers was for attention and Kate's was 'more grown up'.

Took them, what, 6 months to get round to tearing her down?

Paradyning · 12/11/2018 21:41

I think they may have gotten the idea for that piece by reading this thread. Queen maybe subsequent threads should have in the title go fuck yourself DM.

No female who ever marries into the RF is ever good enough

The newest recruit is the one in the firing line, is how it works (after an initial burst of 'breath of fresh air' praise for them). Then it softens over time and eventually the new bride is held up as example of how it should be done. Diana and Fergie followed this pattern and now we're seeing it with Kate and Meghan. Meghan needs to hold her nerve and remember that she's survived the TV industry so she can do this too and no one's perfect from the off (or at all!) I think she did tremendously well on Remembrance Sunday under a lot of scrutiny.

I am very pale so I really should try a nude shoe - could do with the height boost too. I don't mind whether or not they're cutting edge fashion if they work well for me. I know that ankle boots with skirts don't suit me, for instance, and I take heart from thinking that I've never seen any of the Royals wearing that combo either (someone will post a photo now, of course.. )

QueenOfTheAndals · 12/11/2018 21:55

Hah, good point @Paradyning, though I think makeup is fair game on this thread! Meghan can have a heavy hand with the highlighter but that's no more of a crime than Kate's eyeliner. Funny how they criticise her for defining her brows but then say Kate's looked more natural when they were twice as dark and looked sharpied on! Personally I prefer the dewy/luminous look to the matte one as it's more youthful.

Talking about pregnancy wear, I found this weird interesting comparison on Twitter. Apparently MM has been taking maternity fashion inspiration from the Kardashians..

@Butterymuffin Kate has worn ankle boots with dresses before, can't find photos right now though.

They don’t limit themselves to picking on the blow ins- look at the grief they’ve given Beatrice and Eugenie over the years. Not just about their careers but their clothes, weight, boyfriends etc.

It’ll be Lady Louise’s “turn” in the next few years, unless media reporting does a non-misogynistic 180.

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 12/11/2018 22:02

I laughed when I saw the make up article I immediately thought the DM had been reading this thread!

PennyMordauntsLadyBrain · 12/11/2018 22:05

YY Queen.

I quite like the “crimes” of heavy handed brows and too much highlighter. Those are things that normal women do all the time- I don’t think DoC uses a makeup artist (there were reports of her getting lessons so she could handle that side herself) so it’s only natural that it’s not magazine cover perfect.

QueenOfTheAndals · 12/11/2018 22:15

Yes @PennyMordauntsLadyBrain, and I'm conscious that on this thread we need to be careful about not tipping over into spite. Critiquing fashion and makeup choices is fair enough, as it's an S&B thread, and I don't think there's any harm in reminiscing about the days of Diana and Fergie either, and the gossip that was attached to their shenanigans.

What I think we need to avoid is the talk about too thin/too overweight, needless speculation about the marriages of people we don't know, or unnecessary digs at someone for 'smirking' or 'simpering', when that may just be the expression they have in repose.

So basically I'm saying we should critique the clothes without getting person about the wearer!

The problem with the more dewy highlighter heavy look in my experience is the highlighter really brings attention to any imperfections such as wrinkles in my experience I don't think it would be a good look on Kate although I agree I think maybe she needs to have a re think about a few things the eyeliner in particular

Harebellmeadow · 12/11/2018 22:16

Oh No! Hope the palace put some serious protections in to prevent the media bothering Louise - she seemed such a shy, kind sweetheart at the Royal wedding and that skirt-stair business was extremely
Unkind.

RosinaAlmaviva · 12/11/2018 22:16

The newest recruit is the one in the firing line, is how it works (after an initial burst of 'breath of fresh air' praise for them).

Indeed, it's cyclical, like the phases of the moon, usually goes something like this:

She's A Breath of Fresh Air
She Is So Pretty
Everyone Loves Her
Has She Done Something To Annoy The Queen?
Did This Outfit Break The Royal Rules?
We Don't Like Her Makeup Any More
Exclusive: Not Everyone Loves Her, Corgis Say
OMG She's Such A Bitch
OMFG She Is Pregnant!
She Is Still Pregnant
She's A Hands-On Mum
It's A Breath Of Fresh Air
She Lost All Her Baby Weight Already!
Everyone Loves Her
etc.

SenecaFalls · 12/11/2018 22:18

That article is a hoot.

"Matte" is more grown up. Who knew? I've always been told (by numerous YouTube vloggers) that the older you get the less matte you want your face to be.

QueenOfTheAndals · 12/11/2018 22:19

@itswinetime I wasn't suggesting highlighter on Kate, but maybe a lighter foundation with a softer formulation. The one she was wearing looked too dark for her. God knows money isn't an object for her so she could get the best there is!
