Are my eyes green?

I've always said/thought my eyes are green but now I'm not sure. DS has very bright green eyes and mine seem a lot darker. Are they green or are they actually hazel?

I don't wear make up because I've never known what colours suit my eye colour. I don't really wear a lot of coloured clothing either so don't have a clue what might suit me. I just want to start smartening up a bit and spending more effort on clothes and my appearance.

I'd appreciate any advice or suggestions please. I don't have lots of money so can't afford high end designers but could afford a couple of "key pieces"

They look green to me.
I would go to a make-up counter in a department store and ask for suggestions.

They never seem that friendly, but they probably know what they're talking about so worth a shot. If you're going to buy one eyeshadow you want it to be one you really like.

DonDrapersOldFashioned · 07/11/2018 12:58

They look green in that photo, a greyish khaki colour with a brown/gold ring around the pupil.

Bronzes and old gold tones look beautiful with green eyes. Mine are hazel, more on the khaki greenish end, like yours (but mine are definitely hazel). If I want them to look more green I wear the following colour eyeshadows,

bronze
old gold (warmer shades)
Olive
Cranberry/plummy colours (but not purple)

SilentIsla · 07/11/2018 12:59

Green.

DonDrapersOldFashioned · 07/11/2018 12:59

MAC are good for make up colours. They have an enormous range of eyeshadow colours and so you are sure to find a colour that suits and aren’t just going to be shoved in a shade that the brand has, rather than a shade that really suits your colouring.

LuckyDiamond · 07/11/2018 13:01

I have very definite green eyes and yours look blue to me. You probably have those eyes that change colour depending on the light, Lucky you.

Bugjune · 07/11/2018 13:10

Yep, green.

WobbleTime · 07/11/2018 13:14

Your eyes are similar to mine. They look green or hazel depending on the light. I call them ‘sludge’ coloured. Glamorous I know.

OHolyNightOwl · 07/11/2018 14:10

Yes, think the colour is called bottle green!

bubbles108 · 07/11/2018 14:12

Olive Green

ColinsVeryJolly · 07/11/2018 14:34

To misquote Joey “you’re my eye twin!”

I call mine murky green 😄

ems137 · 07/11/2018 17:34

Ah thanks everyone!

When I've googled it says gold and purples look good with green eyes. That's why I wanted to make sure they were actually green before buying.

Yes, depending on the light or even if I'm feeling ill my eyes can seem darker or lighter. They were grey/blue until I was around 8 years old and then changed, so did my hair colour.

My mum had blue eyes and my dads are brown. My siblings have got either blue or brown and I seem to have mixed the 2 colours together and come out with green.

Oh OP please go out and buy some green shirts or tops, similar to your eye colour or slightly brighter. I have a friend with similar eyes to you and whenever she wears a certain green shirt, I notice her green eyes, it looks great. In other colours I don’t really notice her eyes so much.

For days when you’re wearing other colours, I always thought purple was good for green, surprised to see it’s apparently not.

GhostCurry · 07/11/2018 18:26

PS LuckyDiamond can we have a photo of your eyes? And OP, one of your son’s?? I never really see anyone with bright green eyes, would like to!

Bodicea · 07/11/2018 19:44

Mac expensive pink is a great colour on green eyes.

dementedma · 07/11/2018 19:48

i am the only one of five siblings who has green eyes - (mums are blue and dad's are brown) - all the others have degrees of brown. This is because I am the special one!!! Love having green eyes so watching with interest as am rubbish at make up

SilentIsla · 07/11/2018 22:00

Sludgy green is lovely around green eyes.

I've always wondered what mine are. I'd say the ops are definitely green. Could anyone perhaps tell me mine please?!

I thought they were brown for years but my mother has rich brown eyes. I know these are different.

Sludge brown??! They look different in different lights!

My eyes are a similar colour. If I wear purple as in aubergine/plum colours they look more green. However, I quite like wearing blue as in sapphire/cobalt/denim as it seems to cancel out the blue in my eyes making them appear more amber.

Knitwit101 · 08/11/2018 14:34

Dr has eyes very like yours op. His seem to change colour to match his t-shirt!
I have never seen anyone with actual green eyes. I think eyes seem to be either really blue, really brown or somewhere in between and changeable depending on what colours they are near.

LuckyDiamond · 08/11/2018 14:40

Here’s me

They don’t look that green in this pic though Grin

Your eyes are green! It’s quite a dark, khaki, maybe bottle green? Kindof neutral too, neither warm or cool. You can probably get away with most makeup looks.

I have bright yellow-green eyes, I only really suit purple and golds. Green liner and shadows are the worst. Pink makes me look ill but that might be more to do with overall colouring with skin and hair too. Why don’t you try a cheap palette from pound land to test colours? Then you could guage it better!
