Is there such a thing as an edgy waterproof coat

I'm looking for something properly waterproof with taped seams, not a boring colour, not North Face or didriksons or anything from GO Outdoors. Rains jackets look ok but I think they could be sweaty and I'm not sure how I feel about that rubberised material. Budget of £200. If you can help me I will give you a big fat snog.

I was looking at the Alesha Dixon X Regatta range as I too need a decent waterproof coat.

At present I wear Parkas because they have hoods, and are warm & fashionable but the two I have are only 'shower resistant' not sure how they'd cope in a full on downpour.

The Lucasta Regatta parka looks good actually- currently £59.95.

love the net.porter coat, wish there was something on the high street like it

I've ordered the Finisterre Solus parka after trying it on and loving the fact it's very light, yet warm. Not edgy but good environmental credentials! Smile

TheTeaFairy · 29/11/2018 06:11

PS it was £££ so will be my Christmas present to myself Wink

SchnitzelVonKrumm · 12/01/2019 14:13

@TheTeaFairy How warm is your Solus? Bought one in the sale and it's thinner than I expected.

TwigTheWonderKid · 12/01/2019 14:45

Think how much wear you'd get out of ChineseChicken!

TheTeaFairy · 13/01/2019 15:13

@SchnitzelVonKrumm
I find it warm enough but I'm in the far south west of the UK, where it doesn't usually get very cold. Occasionally I layer it up with a skinny Puffa - I got a size 10 but it's more like a 12 so there's plenty of room. I love the fact it's so light to wear but the layer of padding it's lined with still keeps me snug.

When I was in a Finisterre shop recently, the shop assistant told me that they are re-sizing the women's coats for next season because customers have been saying they are too big. That's certainly my experience but I like fairly baggy clothes.

What do you think of the Solus? Smile

beanaseireann · 13/01/2019 16:19

Are the Protected Species coats warm ?
Or are they just waterproof ?

beanaseireann · 13/01/2019 16:26

The Mira Mikati coat looks fun OP

dudsville · 13/01/2019 17:35

I thought edgy rainwear was a hoody and shorts?

breadwidow · 13/01/2019 17:40

Take a look at www.miamelon.com/. Canadian so shipping may cost a lot. I got one of their commuter jackets designed for cycling but doesn't look like a cycling jacket (probably not on their website now as not current season) via a Uk cycling website (www.cyclechic.co.uk/shop/clothing/mia-melon-commuter-jacket-olive-20)

beanaseireann · 14/01/2019 14:49

Secretsales.com have a sale of Hunter products at the moment.
Sorry I can't do links.

SchnitzelVonKrumm · 16/01/2019 22:38

@TeaFairy It's a very nice coat but I think it won't be warm enough to replace my ancient Didrikson and I've already got a not-dissimilar lightweight parka that's waterproof. And it does come up large if anyone else is thinking of buying one!

tartantroosers · 16/01/2019 23:53

I have a stutterheim. V edgy:-)

Bloominglovely · 17/01/2019 01:17

I don’t think that edgy and waterproof coat belong in the same sentence.

I don’t think any of the coats linked are ‘edgy’ tbh. If the Scandinavians haven’t managed it, we most certainly won’t.

It is far better to be warm and dry and look sympathetically at the people who are cold and sopping wet in their quest to look edgy.

tierraJ · 17/01/2019 09:42

I bought the Alesha Dixon X Regatta Lucasta parka.

It was half price so £52 & it really is waterproof (been tried & tested very recently!)

It's navy quite shiny but not tacky / cheap looking shiny. The black faux fur on the hood is removable for when the weather is really wet.
It's quite fitted & a nice shape.

I've had quite a few compliments on it & it's actually smart enough to wear to bars & restaurants to keep your outfit dry.

I think it's also available in black & red.
