Anyone bought any lovely new makeup recently?

Went shopping yesterday and bought a chanel lipstick (my first one) a Bobbi Brown eyeshadow stick and Becca undereye corrector, which I've never had before. Usually use Bobbi Brown but don't love it so going to give this a go. Love buying new makeup and trying out new bits. Anyone bought anything recently that they would recommend (or not)?

Hourglass ambient lighting edit I lucked palette. I wouldn’t usually buy such a think on impulse but I was in the mood to shop, saw it (haven’t tried anything from ambient lighting before but have wanted to and the colours looked really nice) and got it. I really like it.

EraOfTheGrey · 04/11/2018 20:41

I wish I’d seen the hourglass ambient light edit before I bought the three full size powders. I could have saved myself a small fortune. I can’t regret it though as I do love them They do seem to blur out my fine lines so it’s worth the cost.

stoplickingthetelly · 04/11/2018 21:01

The hourglass powders all look beautiful. I really wanted an hourglass blusher, but couldn't decide on a colour. Would want it to be absolutely perfect for that price.

Ledkr can I ask which one you bought as there seem to be different types of LG baked foundation?

TheWiseWomansFear · 04/11/2018 21:23

The Sisley Phyto Rouge lipsticks or Guerlain lipsticks are gorgeous!

AliceRR · 04/11/2018 21:55

I know what you mean. If you don’t mind spending £69 then the palette is quite good as there a couple of blushers (I think the colours are really nice) plus two finishing powders and a bronzer and highlighter.

There’s also the hourglass ambient lighting edit volume 4 which is slightly different colours. I didn’t know about that one when I bought the other one but luckily I think the colours in the one I got are right for me.

I also bought the benefit eye brow pencil, the one that’s like a pen with different colours in it. It’s not that great TBH.

This week I have a delivery coming with the following -

Tarte contour concealer
Charlotte Tilbury million lashes
Huda nude eyeshadow

All new products to me and I’m very excited Grin Will let you know what I think!

Fstar · 04/11/2018 22:22

Too faced gingerbread pallet and 4 matte lip, also their peaches and cream setting powder is gorgeous

Haircutdilemma · 04/11/2018 22:31

@Megsmcgoo is that the shape tape concealer? I have it on Light Medium and Light, I am not loving it to be honest, the applicator dispenses way too much and although it blends really well I think it emphasises my fine lines, even with powder over it.

When I have used these up I am going back to Nars Radiant creamy concealer which is a couple of pounds cheaper.

I am a huge fan of Tarte, that one just doesn't work well for me.

Hourglass ethereal light and blush (I'm pale and they're both great)

FAB bendy avocado concealer - blends like a dream and doesn't crease under eyes

Conceal and define revolution foundation - great coverage and shades

Stila stay all day liquid lipsticks - don't budge

JanetLovesJason · 05/11/2018 08:19

Coleur Caramel black eyeliner

SurfnTerfFantasticmissfoxy · 05/11/2018 08:33

Charlotte Tilbury Colour Chamelon in Bronzed Garnet (chunky eyeshadow / liner pencil)

Charlotte Tilbury luscious Lip Slick in Very Victoria and a lip cheat pencil in Pillow talk

Love them all !

I've just joined Beauty Pie.

I'm impressed - got the tinted moisturiser and a lipstick.

Only problem is the spending limit is a bit rubbish - I went for the £5 one but it means I'm really limited with what I can buy.

TeddyIsaHe · 05/11/2018 09:04

Beauty Pie here as well, their eyebrow pencil with a spoolie on the other end is ridiculously good.

Also Hourglass stick foundation. It’s bloody expensive and doesn’t last a huge amount of time, but it makes me looks utterly flawless and I don’t think I can go back to anything else now!

MrsCar · 05/11/2018 10:00

I got a mascara that I've never heard of in a Look Fantastic beauty box. It's called 'Fully charged' and is hands down the best one I've ever tried. It's quite heavy (false lash look) so not for you, if you prefer a natural look.

I've never tried any Charlotte Tilbury products, but treated myself to the advent calendar. Glad to see all the positive posts here. The pillow talk lipstick is in it, although I'm not generally a fan of nudes, and prefer colour

stoplickingthetelly · 05/11/2018 10:14

I've never had any Charlotte Tilbury either, but like the sound of the chunky eyeshadow pencil/liner. Going to have a look at those. I'm wearing all if my new bits today and so far I like them all, especially the lipstick. The Becca undereye corrector isn't as dark as my bobbi brown one, but it's not as heavy and really brightening. Just have to sort out concealer now. Never been able to find a perfect one. I'm using bobbi brown full coverage at the moment and while it does cover I find it very heavy and it settles in my lines quite a bit. I'll use it up then might give Nars a go.

The Benifit blush bar which is just fantastic. A Charlotte Tilbury lipstick and liner- disappointed with the liner though it needs sharpening already and only used it twice- and have to buy their sharpener!

Ameliarose16 · 05/11/2018 11:01

Also if you like trying new bits I'd deff sign up for Birchbox- every month you get a box of high end things to try- it's around £12.. it's so worth it

Elledorado · 05/11/2018 11:36

Smashbox liquid lipstick. Lasted all day, non drying, and fab colour.

AliceRR · 05/11/2018 12:37

There’s a good set on boots for about £30. It’s the smashbox ablaze palette with a brush, primer, make up setting spray and mascara. I think the palette alone is £20/25. I have the palette so wouldn’t buy the set for me but it’s a good deal.

AliceRR · 05/11/2018 12:38

I’ve never tried Charlotte Tilbury either which seems weird!

starkid · 05/11/2018 16:55

I bought the Maybelline Eraser Eye Concealer at the weekend, and it's a little pale for me at the moment but me choosing the wrong colour aside, I've just had a quick look and it's still looking good. Usually I look haggard all day from my dark circles!

Just had a look at some of the things mentioned on this list, geez am I the only one who shops in Superdrug/Boots?
Haha, I jest, but still.

SapphireSeptember · 05/11/2018 18:52

Superdrug is the land of Revolution/I ❤ Revolution/Revolution Pro and Make Up Academy, who do some fantastic make up. Stuff like L'Oréal, Revlon, Sleek and GOSH are really good quality. I don't really do high end make up.
Anyway, I ordered some limited edition Revlon lipsticks off Amazon recently. They were exclusive to Walgreens but somehow Amazon got hold of them, so I couldn't say no. Grin

If you're interested in contouring, you could use the too-pale concealer as a highlighter on your jawbone/ centre of nose/chin/ forehead. It's how I used up a similar concealer, made quite a difference to my overall make up routine.

PunkrockerGirl59 · 05/11/2018 19:09

Lady that Hourglass palette is stunning. I know I won't like the response, but do you mind telling me how much it cost ? Smile
