Royal style and gossip: the frocks, the rocks, the shocks

Here we go again!

And by popular demand, here are the previous threads:
Thread 1
Thread 2
Thread 3
Thread 4
Thread 5
Thread 6
Special edition: Eugenie wedding thread

Harry and Meghan have 2 days more in NZ before they head back to London and, if I was her, I'd put on pyjamas, get Netflix fired up, and not leave my bed for several days! William and Kate will be out for a sporty engagement in Essex tomorrow and I'm sure we'll start to see them more as she's now officially back from maternity leave..

No idea what the continental royals are up to but New My Royals (does that title even make sense?) is my go-to link for them!

Carole is well-spoken but I didn't think she sounded particularly posh, it just sounded like regular RP.

I wonder what M and H did with their new puppy whilst away? Seems a bit odd to get a puppy when you’re about to go on a long tour abroad.

VanillaSugary · 01/11/2018 21:25

I hate to say this, but I do think DoC is borderline anorexic.

Moononthehill28 · 01/11/2018 21:31

Yes she is beginning to look like Diana did when she was bulimic

Jack65 · 01/11/2018 21:34

VanillaSugary hardly, she looks a picture of health. And why bitch about another woman's health anyway?

Moononthehill28 · 01/11/2018 21:35

Not bitching. I love her but she is far too thin.

QueenOfTheAndals · 01/11/2018 21:38

Hmm, maybe it's time to draw a line under the discussion about Kate's slimness. It may be down to genetics or it may be down to diet and exercise but we have no way of knowing, and speculating that she might have an eating disorder is perhaps a step too far.

Let's stick to the clothes and more general gossip, shall we?

OP posts:
WipsGlitter · 01/11/2018 21:39

She looks fit and healthy. I don't think she looks drawn at all. We've totally lost track of what a normal weight is anyway.

Can we stick to taking about the clothes? I know body shape comes into it but I don't think she has an eating disorder. She's just disciplined.

VanillaSugary · 01/11/2018 21:44

Ok - fair enough. She looks great in photos and I love her wardrobe. Her heels are virtually vertical. Respect to the lady for mastering the art of gliding along in those.

Clionba · 01/11/2018 21:46

@QueenOfTheAndals - thank you. Let's do that. I notice Camilla is in another long tunic and loose trousers today - very practical and stylish.

UrsulaPandress · 01/11/2018 21:53

I really want that Camilla look. Joanna Lumley channeled it on one of her programmes and I’ve been lusting ever since.

Clionba · 01/11/2018 21:57

Yes, it's very elegant, isn't it? On that Camilla programme someone said that she really struggles with the heat and is always very uncomfortable. She manages to look elegant in spite of that.

Moononthehill28 · 01/11/2018 22:01

Yea she apparently hates flying too! Joanna Lumley is a friend of hers so don’t know if they buy their clothes from the same designers!

Pupsiecola · 01/11/2018 22:11

Pictures of Meghan and Harry in the Fail. She's in black trousers and a puffer style jacket.

7salmonswimming · 01/11/2018 22:14

I think the most stylish shoes I’ve seen for comment on this thread were, incredibly, the plum suede ones KM wore the other day. Difficult to pull off velvet shoes. I wonder if she added the matching belt, or found shoes to match the belt.

QueenOfTheAndals · 01/11/2018 22:20

@7salmonswimming Yes those were beautiful. I love these deep plum Prada sandals too, though the dress is very Liesl from Sound of Music!

Yes those are very pretty, but somehow they make her legs look stumpy! That’s one thing KM isn’t! Maybe it’s just the camera angle.

Personally, I also think “ouch” - they look veeeeery difficult to walk in. But then, maybe those shoes ain’t made for walkin’...

Jlynhope · 01/11/2018 22:26

I love that outfit on KM!
I also love Camilla's wardrobe most of the time. I think she has good taste.

PinguDance · 01/11/2018 22:29

I think Princess Charlotte is going to grow up to be a dead ringer for Carole Middleton! They’re so similar across the brow. I’m going to join in this thread after weeks of secretly following royal-watch Instagram accounts and having no-one to talk to about them. Grin Sad to be too late for any tiara chat that might have been had.

QueenOfTheAndals · 01/11/2018 22:43

Yes, I can see yoke resemblance. And George is the spit of grandad Mike, which bodes well for his hairline!

OP posts:
QueenOfTheAndals · 01/11/2018 22:44

Yoke??? That was meant to be a resemblance!

CoachBombay · 01/11/2018 23:47

I love those shoes in the last pic of KM!

I also love a vertical heel personally, I wear them all day for 9 hour shifts on my feet. You just get used to it after a while.

7salmonswimming · 01/11/2018 23:52

@CoachBombay

Shock How do you do it??! Don’t your back and pelvis hurt? May I ask how old you are roughly? I managed a 2-3” heel max in my 20s and 30s before my pregnancies. Now in my 40s, at a push, I can manage an inch of heel for a couple of hours. I’m far fitter and almost as slim as I was back then, but my spine / pelvis / shoulders / head all feel out of kilter in heels. Plus, I’m convinced I walk like a duck.

Also (I know I’m being really nosy here, so feel free to ignore) are you required to wear high heels for your work? Or do you choose to?

CoachBombay · 02/11/2018 00:31

I'm in my late 20's and from a sporting/dance/gymnastic background. My back/pelvis/hips have never hurt. My feet however are mangled 😳 but that was before the heels, mainly sport lol!

I'm not required to at all, and if anything my male boss often says "wouldn't a flat shoe be more comfortable?" But I just laugh and say "no dear it would not" I also use my clip clopping as a warning sign for jnr staff to "look busy" 😂 they all hear me coming.

I wear shift dresses and dress/suit combos a lot and just feel a heel is a more polished look.

Regards walking and running I can sprint to a fire alarm panel in my heels and have beaten other staff members so no drama there. The thing is to "trust the heel" lots of people I think fear it going to break so totter on their toes. It won't break, strut ladies strut 😉!
