Wrong gel colour on toes

Bugger. I've just had a pedicure on holiday and I chose the wrong gel colour. It looks like a fungal nail infection instead of the lovely gold I thought it would be.

Can the colour be painted over if I go back tomorrow and explain?

Not sure whether you could have a different gel colour, or if they would have to remove and start again.
You can put normal polish over it though: maybe you could just do that yourself.

BerylStreep · 29/10/2018 20:46

Thank you. It's horrific. It's channeling Halloween witch nails. Honestly, it's really that bad. I'll speak to the place tomorrow and see what they say.

I should have said something as soon as she put it on the first nail, but I thought a second coat would improve it. It didn't.

You would have to take it off and start again , I've never heard of anyone putting gel on gel. I chose the wrong colour today to I'm really cross with myself.

BerylStreep · 29/10/2018 20:55

But does it look like this?

You'll have to cover it yourself with a normal polish or go back and ask them to re-do it. IF they are feeling very generous they might not charge the full price but i would be surprised.

On of my DDs has her own nail business and recently had a lady come back with the same issue. (orange colour) She charged her half price for the off and on again in a different shade.

InfiniteSheldon · 29/10/2018 20:57

I had a nail colour I didn't like they just put another coat in a different colour

Haircutdilemma · 29/10/2018 20:58

Just paint over it yourself. Would be an expensive mistake to have to start again.

Laiste · 29/10/2018 20:59

Forgot to add - The reason they wont cover it with another gel is that you'll have a base coat, one/two layers of colour and a top coat already. It might take 2 layers of colour to cover what you have on plus another top coat ... 7 layers !? Not good, and would take an AGE to soak off again.

userxx · 29/10/2018 21:01

Fungal nail infection 🤣🤣. It's not that bad but it's not what I'd choose myself.

florriepeck · 29/10/2018 21:04

Oh, it's not that bad!
Forget about it, and enjoy your holiday.
At least you will know to choose a different sort of shade next time.

Laiste · 29/10/2018 21:06

Oh you could put normal polish - something sheer or pearly over that quite easily. Pinking to warm it up? It'll be fine and cheaper for now.

I was imagining some sort of really deep dark green/brown nastiness Grin

Laiste · 29/10/2018 21:07

pinking? pinkish.

PouchofDouglas · 29/10/2018 21:11

Christ that’s bad. What colour did you think you were choosing

TheOneWith · 29/10/2018 21:15

Oh dear, that really does look like fungal toenail colour.

Paint over it with a normal polish.

BerylStreep · 29/10/2018 21:41

On the outside of the bottle it looked like a really opaque gold.

PouchofDouglas · 29/10/2018 21:49

Gold in white skin alwsyd bad

Dafspunk · 29/10/2018 21:52

Glitter on top? You can’t polish a turd but...

squirrelnutkins1 · 29/10/2018 21:58

Yeah glitter on top will help 😊

Notcontent · 29/10/2018 22:08

Agree that those sort of colours never look good on pale skin - you need something dark or something vibrant. My mum once had a similar honey brown shade on her fingernails - I think she thought it was a good neutral choice, but it really wasn’t! It looked like nicotine stains on her fingers... Grin

Yonijust · 29/10/2018 22:10

Get stick ons.Grin

SouthWestmom · 29/10/2018 22:14

They've cut your nails really short - is it sore?

AnyFucker · 29/10/2018 22:18

That is terrible

slithytove · 29/10/2018 22:26

Paint over it with normal varnish, you can do this a few times as there are acetate free nail varnish removers which won’t affect the gel underneath

BerylStreep · 30/10/2018 17:30

I went back to the nail place today and they happily painted over a new colour. Did an extra 2 layers of colour and another top coat.

Thank goodness, no more gruffalo toes.

Ginkythefangedhellpigofdoom · 30/10/2018 22:21

Show us then!

I've never had gel before but I always do a sky blue or turquoise on my toes because it can never make your toes look bruised or bleeding or infected or nicotine stained p!
