Am I a winter?

I suit navy blue, white, dark wine red, and emerald green - does this make me a winter? What other colours would suit me?

How does black work on you? It flatters most winters, so if navy works better, maybe you're not a winter.
Although ' navy'' comes in a variety of tones, so could be misleading. How does Brown work on you?
Most winters find jewel colours can look great on them, cobalt and hot pink, as well as emerald.
I'm a blue- eyed fair skinned winter, and find that black, charcoal and aubergine all look good on me.

Thanks. I always used to wear black but try not to these days as feel it makes me look awful so try and stick with navy. I've always avoided brown...

Watching with interest, OP. I have always assumed I'm a winter but never had my 'colours' done so wouldn't know. I don't think I've ever worn emerald green in my life...

PaulHollywoodsleftbollockhair · 01/11/2018 10:02

Winters generally are told they need the contrast of a lipstick to pull off dark colours. I can wear black if I wear red lipstick.

Actually I found my perfect deep matte blue toned red - Loreal Paris cherry.

Have a look at the dark winter palette...

Do you usually look better with a white blouse or a cream blouse? That usually helps to determine whether you are winter or not. A winter person will look good with white or black, but not very good with cream.

TheSunflower · 01/11/2018 10:29

I'm a winter. I suit black, white, bright blue-based pinks.

AnaChocolatte · 01/11/2018 10:38

I'm a jewel winter - I had my colours done by House of Colour.

I think it's hard to diagnose yourself - I thought I was an Autumn.

There are different types of winter but in general it is the cool, bold unmuted colours that you will suit. So the navy is French navy not a muted Navy. The blue a bright colbalt blue or a china blue etc.

The classic winter type is someone like Nigella Lawson with pale skin and dark hair. There are other versions such as a blonde winter but they are much rarer.

I was told to avoid black near my face and go for French navy as it suited me more.

I’m a winter too and suit black, white, charcoal grey and bright jewel colours. I tend to wear a lot of black or dark grey with jewel colours to accent eg scarves.

MissTeriName · 01/11/2018 10:49

Analysed years ago as a winter, I can NOT wear navy. It makes me look awful. Black and white look good, as well as cool, clear colours,

Same here.

Agree. This is my colour palette.

Fashionista101 · 01/11/2018 11:02

I love love love wine red colour with baby pink at the moment!

I don't really do pink but I got a gorgeous pink cashmere jumper and wore it under a wine red wool coat.

Dontfeellikeaskeleton · 01/11/2018 11:14

You sound like a winter to me.
it's hard to know though, especially with the different shades I. E. Jewel, cold, etc.

Dontfeellikeaskeleton · 01/11/2018 11:15

Yup, fashionista that's a great look. Love navy blue with pale blue for example also.

alittlebitofritasallineed · 01/11/2018 11:23

Yep I've recently realised (taken 40 years!) that I suit white not cream

lurkingfromhome · 01/11/2018 11:30

So hard to diagnose this kind of stuff unless you're so clearly one season that you just couldn't be anything else.

I think I'm a winter (dark brown hair, blue eyes, pale skin, quite contrasty) BUT I have freckles and my hair is not ashy dark brown but has red undertones (when the sun shines on it you can really see the red). I don't think I suit jewel colours but I do suit navy. I have no idea what this makes me ...

PaulHollywoodsleftbollockhair · 01/11/2018 11:39

Lurking....... clear spring

lurkingfromhome · 01/11/2018 11:51

Ohhhhh, spring, you say? I hadn't even considered that. I thought I'd be a summer if not a winter. Off now to have a look!

AnnaNimmity · 01/11/2018 11:56

I'm a deep winter. Can wear all of those colours. Plus Grey, Cobalt blue, Bright pink, purples lots. Raspberry red.

Can't wear cream. Can't really wear gold (jewellry).

Can wear different purples and pinks too - not warm colours. Ice pink or Ice green or even yellow (icy), lilac too looks nice. Silver tops.

AnnaNimmity · 01/11/2018 11:59

I'm a brown eyed, olived skinned, dark hair winter by the way, not pale skinned at all.

lurking I would say with red hair you're unlikely to be a winter. Could you be an autumn?

lurkingfromhome · 01/11/2018 12:07

Definitely not an autumn, I don't think - I look TERRIBLE in warm, autumnal colours. All the lovely rust, brown, mustard, orange colours around in autumn make me look dreadful.

I definitely have a "cool" look to me - it's only when you get up close that you see the reddish tone in my otherwise very dark brown hair and that my skin is prone to freckles.

I've got the same kind of colouring as Claire Foy here, although you can't see any red undertones in her hair (they might be there though).

Am I a winter?
quirkychick · 01/11/2018 12:08

I thought I was a winter, but when I had my colours done I came out more of a cool/jewel summer. It was using Directional Colour Analysis so not exactly the same, I'm mostly cool, a bit light and slightly muted. So, mostly cool summer colours but I also particularly suit white, emerald, cornflower blue and crimson red, more winter colours.

WitchyMcWitchface · 01/11/2018 12:13

I'm autumn and suit cream not white. Gold, khaki greens, teal but I was a cool autumn or some such, so it's not just 4 seasons.

FaceLikeAPairOfTits · 01/11/2018 12:17

This is a v helpful breakdown of the Winter types.

LesLavandes · 01/11/2018 12:28

Maybe you're a Summer
