PLEASE help me find new shoulder bag for work

It needs to be leather, in a tan or lighter brown shade. It doesn't need to fit a laptop. Messenger style bags are too narrow, and I don't like satchel style either. I always carry a paperback and a water-bottle. I want it to have a shoulder strap but I like grab handles too. I like a softer, unstructured sort of look rather than anything too boxy. I don't mind if it has pockets or not.

I like Fossil, but the Rachel Satchel seems a bit small. The Fossil Maya satchel is a contender, but I worry it is a bit frumpy looking?

Budget is 250.

I could have written your post! I am on an eternal search for a bag exactly as you have described.

I saw a great one in Joules a few years ago and like a fool, didn't buy it. Biggest regret.

I am so glad I am not alone. I haunt the internet like I'm searching for the holy grail. I do like the mulberry bayswater, but I can't afford it. I don't want a fake, but a design perhaps inspired by would just about do the job.

Fix yes I do! V similar to the one I saw before. Wouldn't mind a bit bigger though.

I have a similar style from a couple of years ago but same leather. Its excellent and my first grown up feeling leather bag. I constantly carry too much stuff in mine and its gets rained on, kids water bottles and milk bottle has leaked in it. A rub with leather protector brings it back (although didnt fix the smell of milk).

Fix, I really don't think it's ugly at all - though at that price I'd hope all of it would be!

All of it would be leather, obviously.

I'll get it out and have a look when it comes, then see how I feel. I can return it, but the returns process is a bit longwinded and it might be three weeks before the money is back in my account. I COULD buy another one and be a bit skint until the return money comes through, but it feels a bit risky and indulgent, if you see what I mean.

I can't find any pictures online of anyone carrying it, or a good look at the strap either. And most Fossil bags have got pretty detailed reviews online from bloggers etc, but not the Maya Satchel...

I have loved this charity shop buy but it’s knackered - is this what’s known as a tote? It’s not so big. Maybe the depth of a paperback plus a few inches

I was tempted by the Maya too - in pale blue with the suede band around the base. I saw someone with it a week ago and loved that bag!! The suede base was horribly grubby so I was pleased I didn't buy it, but the shape and size of the bag was lovely so I'm hopeful for you!!
