Its a party frock. Big birthday. Probably wear with boots or gold heels and bag (if i can find some)

Can't work out if the hem is too up and downy, if its frumpy or floaty and fab.

Yes it really suits you and is very in.

I would wear ankle boots but not the heavy ones in your picture with a nude leg or thinner denier tights.

MrsLettuce · 18/10/2018 19:06

I like the cut of the dress, the fabric and the pattern. They don't combine at all well though, which is a shame. I suspect you can find something a lot better.

Atalune · 18/10/2018 19:06

It’s lovely! Where is it from?

Yes with little pixie boots or a western ankle boot and bare legs or a barely there tights.

Mokepon · 18/10/2018 19:11

I'm going to disagree. I like the pattern but it looks frumpy.
I also think it's drowning you. The sleeves have too much volume and the length is wrong.

JosellaPlayton · 18/10/2018 19:17

Hmm I’m of the opinion that it’s right on the line between frumpy and fab. With a high heel, heeled ankle boots for example, it could look great. With the shoes you’re wearing in the pictures I think it looks dowdy (sorry). Overall, for a big birthday I think you could do better.

Knittedfairies · 18/10/2018 19:19

I don’t think I like it, but can’t put my finger on why. I think it might be the length, and the style of the sleeves..

zippyswife · 18/10/2018 19:19

I like it. Would look good with biker boots and leather jacket.

SimplyPut · 18/10/2018 19:20

I think you could find something better tbh. X

Cherrypie32 · 18/10/2018 19:23

Not for evening, more of a day dress to me.

ZenNudist · 18/10/2018 19:23

Its hush. Hmmm i love the fabric / colours. Not sure about the peasant smock top half but like the midi floaty bottom half

Unless it's your 50th no!

Cherrypie32 · 18/10/2018 19:26

You look like you’ve got the figure to wear something a bit more dazzling for a big birthday but depends if you’re comfortable with that. Personally I think that’s a great time to shout ‘still got it’’

loveskaka · 18/10/2018 19:31

I think maybe a smaller size x

ZenNudist · 18/10/2018 19:33

Thanks for the nice comments. Im going to a non-fancy bar with a group of girl friends but thought with boots it could be casual but eye catching. I thought id pair it with gold heeled pumps for meal in a fancy trendy restaurant (really more bright young things in fashionable/ revealing clothes). Wanted to wear it for meals out with family at Christmas again more casual gastro pubs.

I like to be comfy. I am apple shaped so tum hiding is name of the game.

I think it swamps you. Lovely dress but perhaps you're too petite. Am not even sure if a smaller size would work.

ZenNudist · 18/10/2018 19:44

Sigh I Dont think i will find something else now. I will end up wearing a back up dress, but they are both a bit dull. One is bugundy velvet and the other is black wuth blue white copper flecks. Hoping to get rose gold or glittery black jewellery

Not keen sorry.
Definitely not party enough for fancy nights out.
I agree with it swamping you. Bet you have a lovely figure under all that material.

SimplyPut · 18/10/2018 19:48

Those are both much more flattering... the first dress swamps you! X

BBCK · 18/10/2018 19:49

Much prefer the black but if you want to stand out get something more figure-hugging, you have the figure for it .

Redtartanshoes · 18/10/2018 19:53

Would look better with shoe boot and possibly thick black belt

SugarandVinegar · 18/10/2018 19:54

The black dress looks lovely on you. The first dress doesn't do anything for you, it's too frumpy - sorry.

ZenNudist · 18/10/2018 19:57

Its nice of people to say ive got a good figure. I just see the big tummy and spare tyre. No bum or boobs to balance it out.

Maybe i will look for a better fitting red dress to wear at Christmas. Still like the fabric of this one!

Unless it's your 50th no!

I'm 50 and wouldn't wear it!

I much prefer the black one OP.

JosellaPlayton · 18/10/2018 19:58

Love the black dress with the heeled boots! Much more fun, youthful and flattering.

And you do have a lovely figure.
