Its a party frock. Big birthday. Probably wear with boots or gold heels and bag (if i can find some)

Can't work out if the hem is too up and downy, if its frumpy or floaty and fab.

I think you could make it look really cool with a pair of stiletto heeled ankle boots and no tights

Mwnci123 · 18/10/2018 20:01

I like it, but think the short one with the shiny bits is better for a night out. I always wear black though, and totally get wanting something a bit brighter and different.

TheNavigator · 18/10/2018 20:04

Unless it's your 50th no!

Is this yet another example of the insidious, casual ageism on Mumsnet? If not, what exactly do you mean by this @hottub?

OP - you have a lovely figure and the dress swamps you a bit.

Ellapaella · 18/10/2018 20:05

I'll be honest I don't think the Hush dress has enough of a wow factor for a special night out.
The black dress looks lovely though.

Oblomov18 · 18/10/2018 20:10

The black dress with the heeled boots makes you look fabulous, young and trendy.

The blue specked dress is ok, but does little for you..

The first red dress is awful, swamps you, is too floaty and ageing. You have a fabulous figure, so this is so wrong for you.

stevie69 · 18/10/2018 20:12

Unless it's your 50th no!

Does something special happen style wise when you reach 50???? Confused

GooodMythicalMorning · 18/10/2018 20:13

Not keen on the first but you look fab in the other 2. Yes good figure. Couldnt see it in the 1st.

bellsbuss · 18/10/2018 20:14

Definitely one of the other 2, you look fab in both. The first one is too frumpy.

iMatter · 18/10/2018 20:17

Black ones are much much better

You look great in them 👍

Mokepon · 18/10/2018 20:19

The back up dresses are both much nicer.
I didn't mean to be negative and if YOU love it and feel comfortable in it then wear it.
mIMO something a little more tailored like the back up dresses look a lot nicer on you.
I think if you want something with a longer skirt you need it more fitted on top.
There is nothing wrong with your figure, you juat look better less covered up!

moredoll · 18/10/2018 20:23

The first dress really doesn't flatter you. The others are much better.

Chewbecca · 18/10/2018 20:46

I really like the original dress BUT, it must be styled in a more boho / hipster like way, with clumpier, shorter boots & maybe a long, delicate, twisty necklace & tousled hair. Styled like that it is much more modern than the other two IMO.

Chewbecca · 18/10/2018 20:47

& biker jacket as others suggested

livinginabubbletea · 18/10/2018 20:51

Much prefer the last 2.
Even without your face in the photo I would put the second 2 dresses on a person around 20 years younger than the first dress.

livinginabubbletea · 18/10/2018 20:52

Also you look 2 dress sizes larger in the first dress.

ZenNudist · 18/10/2018 20:52

@Chewbacca i agree about the styling and was going for similar thinking (though im yet to find a biker jacket that fits my middle well). I also agree with everyone else that its too big especially on top.

GeorgeTheHippo · 18/10/2018 21:02

The back up dresses are much better, sorry!

CountFosco · 18/10/2018 21:42

I like the first dress but agree it needs styling to look cool rather than frumpy. Agree it needs boots, biker and messy hair. Just the way those of us approaching 50 wore teadresses in the 90s Wink

Your legs are fantastic which is why lots of people prefer the shorter dresses. But fashion is not about looking your 'best' (by which people usually mean dressing to show off your sexual 'assets') it's about looking cool. And almost frumpy in a teadress is cool.

LaurieFairyCake · 18/10/2018 21:52

I like it but I'm wincing because you're dressing like a fat person when you're all slim, leggy and gorgeous.

Can you please just leave the big prints to the fatties like me who actually need them

namechanged0983 · 18/10/2018 21:54

I never reply to these threads for some reason. The black dress wins hands down. You look great.

Others are horrid. Don't do beautiful-you justice!

florenceheadache · 18/10/2018 22:00

That first dress is awful sorry. Your back ups are much much better.

Atalune · 18/10/2018 22:04

The velvet dress is doing nothing for you.

I find hush looks fantastic on the Uber skinny. And I saw that as a woman who is a 8/10 apple like you and hush makes me feel fat. Always. I think oh that’s gorgeous! And I’m petite! But actually it works best on long limbed slim women. Not petite apples.
Sigh.

So that dress but in a smaller size.

Or the black one with great footwear.

Also- leather jackets must never be done up so it doesn’t matter too much if it doesn’t fit around the middle! Mine doesn’t

Highcontinental · 18/10/2018 22:59

What about a compromise of a mini tea dress? Asos does next day delivery...

Should i keep this dress?

The first one is too long. If it was just on the knee and a lower kneck line is would be better.

Could you wear the black and get some new stylish healed ankle boots.
