Yep, that's it. And that pale pink pearlescent lipstick too!

Marina · 13/06/2007 20:00

Oh they even have Doan's backache pills

marthamoo · 13/06/2007 20:01

I bet they have "Tweed" and "Charlie" too - probably in gift sets with bath cubes.

TheDaVinciCod · 13/06/2007 20:01

And those bath salts in improbable colours in tall decanter-type bottles - my poor Mum had to look delighted every time my brother and I got her some.

TheDaVinciCod · 13/06/2007 20:02

My mum brought me one of those when I was wracked with agony after my second section cod. I was so hungry I thought about eating it though

Peachy · 13/06/2007 20:29

ooh actually we do have the chemists (I odnt go there they scare me- snatched back lollipops from the ds's because I apid with too big a currency {a tenner ) but they do all the funny lentheric eprfumes, old Navy sweets, nasty cheap Christy make up, foot pdour stuff, and thats about it.

We doa ctually have 2 estate agents but I think they cater for the Uni- oph yes

in our vilalge with no shops we have

a Uni

but the students msotly live in the city and bus it in, else they'd starve

trippleshot · 13/06/2007 20:34

Logistically I have the best, living 10mins walk from Oxford St, but now I'm pushing a buggy am the most hated woman in London. Shopping is a thing of the past.

TheDaVinciCod · 14/06/2007 08:57

thought about eating WHAT?

a video?

Marina · 14/06/2007 09:49

No the cologne stick. It looked more appetising than the vegetarian rissole

bundle · 14/06/2007 10:11

i love ancient chemists too, they're just pipped at the post by a good hardware store or a haberdashers [sigh]

Enid · 14/06/2007 10:13

I have a fantastic ironmongers/hardware shop called Abbey Decor - the best shop in the world bar none

and a lovely lovely chemist that sells penhaligons perfumes (cannot afford but just smell them weekly)

Marina · 14/06/2007 10:13

We have a sensational old-style hardware shop in our nearest "real" high street bundle. It has men in brown dust coats and plenty of fork handles
I always think of your local knitting shop and religious artefacts combo at times like these...

Marina · 14/06/2007 10:14

Hello enif how are you feeling today?

Enid · 14/06/2007 10:15

my hardware shop also has massive Lakeland style section with every single size of Pop and Lock box you could possibly want

run by horrifically ugly woman with hairy moles and orange stumpy teeth. Dd2 puts her hands in front of her face so she doesnt have to see her

Enid · 14/06/2007 10:16

hello marina, slept well last night, feel wobbly and a bit sensitive today, slightly better though. Have decided I am having a burn out , not quite sure how to get through it other than resting as much as I can.

bundle · 14/06/2007 10:18

lol @ pop n locks

our hardware store is a mess frankly. it's run by a chinese family. the one who serves has teh best command of english. you can get absolutely anything in there including compost and seeds, paint stripper and slightly rusty nails at rock bottom prices.
it's called Mix.

marina
will endeavour to take picture of Lenarow, in all her glory, next time i'm in there

Marina · 14/06/2007 10:27

Rest really is key, hope you get as much as you possibly can

bundle · 14/06/2007 10:34

enid, yes do rest. I'm still seeing my GP forthnightly and the ADs have really helped me, along with a month off work and admonishing some of my responsibilities

nearlythere · 14/06/2007 10:37

mid wales is truely s**t, we get the worst of everything- shopping, weather, roads etc! Holiday makers think it is quaint, and ALWAY ask- "so where's the shopping centre" to which in an embarassed mutter we have to reply "this is the shopping area" well we have a woolies 'lite'!!

Poor sods- living in a caravan for a week without the creature comforts of an asda or m&s!!!!

GrumpyOldHorsewoman · 14/06/2007 12:18

allieBongo, I moved from Newmarket in Sept last year, and DD1 went to the catholic middle school in Bury. She would have gone onto St Benedicts had we stayed, and it is a very decent school. You're right. Newmarket Upper is a bit scary. Too many girls in too few clothes smoking within the school boundaries. That can't be good. And how to they take books to school in a diddy little handbag?

dottyspots · 14/06/2007 18:13

Doncaster is much better shopping-wise than it used to be - and no, I'm not from here, I'm from Birmingham (where decent shopping can be had), but I've lived in places with worse shopping prospects than Doncaster, so it's not as awful as it might be.

Bundle- Wetwang gets me everytime we drive up to my SILs in Brid.

dottyspots · 14/06/2007 18:16

Forgot to add, I do tend to hop on the train to York though, but for purely cosmetic reasons really (York looks nicer ;) and I like a couple of the shops there) although there is a Monsoon in Donny to look around and if I need something quick for the kids, H&M does for odd bits and pieces).

allieBongo · 14/06/2007 22:13

hello GOHW. where have you moved to????I went to the upper school and it wa fine then (many moons ago) It seems to be like grange hill now. My only problem with the catholic schools is that I hate religion... major snag there i feel
