mamag and the fleece shop wins!!

InternationalMouseOfMystery · 13/06/2007 12:28

i grew up near barnsley

really shite shopping - highlight was chelsea girl next to the market

then... benetton arrived

we (at 14ish) were amazed and delighted

it took them about 5 weeks to realise their market research was duff and they closed up and left

fryalot · 13/06/2007 12:33

there's an Ethel Austin about ten miles away - nearest city with Next, etc. would be probably 35 miles away

Nbg · 13/06/2007 12:33

lol dont be silly

they're re doing the inside market to accomadate nice shops, theres some lovely boutiquey places down the arcade and the alhambra centre has some good shops.
New Topshop on the high street and a redone M&S.

bigknickersbigknockers · 13/06/2007 12:33

Carmenere the town I live in has no chain stores.. ONLY individual shops that are too expensive and only last 6-12 mths.

ELR · 13/06/2007 12:33

InternationalMouseOfMystery · 13/06/2007 12:34

mousey - Leeds

i KNEW i'd miss the shops most (sorry Mum)

Peachy · 13/06/2007 12:37

Define locally

The city s only a few miles away and a large town in the other direction, but I cant really get there most of the time so here i have

2 spars
2 over priced baguette bars
16 pubs
a shops selling angel paraphernalia (FGS)
a wedding shop
a post office / souvenir shop
a costume jewellers
a handmade card shop
a chippy, 2 chinese takeaways and 2 indians

Back home tho it was a town yet we only ahd access to a DottyP, BeWise, Wilkinsons, supermarkets and approx 57 charity shops. Shockingly bad.

InternationalMouseOfMystery · 13/06/2007 12:37

Peachy · 13/06/2007 12:43

Well as you know I live between the two

Now dont get me wrong- its nice- just not always somewhere to be with a couple of Sn kids and irregular car access, iyswim.

unless you like angel themed photo frames of course. In which case its- er-
